Seems anesthesia is very under appreciated as a medical specialty. After learning about the history of anesthesia and watching your video it makes me feel many hospitals and medical facilities are shooting themselves in the foot by not supporting innovation, tools and invention in this field. It would help make surgery and non surgical procedures safer for all patients and therefore create more money for the facilities as people would trust the procedure..you need more pay for the precision and work you put in.
You are right. It is leadership which should the most important trait in an Anesthesiologist. And it is leadership qualities which should be taught & honed with equal emphasis along with the science. Right from the interaction with the patient and the family in the PAC to intraop management to postoperative care or pain management Anesthesiologists today play the role of a leader being not only an astute clinician, but also knowledgeable & dependendable person on whom the very life of the patient depends. Present day Surgeons and even the Hospital management recognize & respect the vital role of such a leader. It is to this level all of us must elevate ourselves. Surgery is teamwork & I believe the present day surgical experience needs 2 Captains-one for the cutting part and the other for the entire non cutting part!😀
Dr, in my country intensive care specialists came out of anaesthesia and the two specialities diverged in 2000, intensive care is what anaesthesiasts essentially do with their patients when they are unconscious in surgery. Was this the case in India as well? I am very surprised by leadership being such an important trait in an anaesthesiast (which you both agree with) because it seems incongruous with never famous. Finally what reason would a manipulative person have to become an anaesthesiast? My gut tells me that manipulative people are generally drawn towards psychiatry, obgyn, neurology and general medicine, so how do as a writer harmonise these contradictions?
Sir, i think i would disagree is that work life is not balanced for Anaesthesiologist. And we are really underpaid for what we do. Rest other points are bang on!!!!
There are braches you love and there are branches you hate but most med students have a love hate relationship with anaesthesia. It is an extremely intriguing branch and a bit in the grey zone. Atleast for me.
Is it a bad idea for someone with generalized anxiety disorder to take up anesthesia? Does having GAD automatically imply you'll also be panicky during medical emergencies?
Sir , the saturation aspect is fearful … and that’s the only point that makes me sceptical about anaesthesia . Is the demand going to decrease that soon ? I am willing to take up anaesthesia this year
Sir, for someone interested in Emergency Medicine, where does he/she fit in the spectrum of Critical Care Medicine, given Anaesthesiology and General Medicine already do a lot of the work an EMed Physician would do?
@@DheerajMasapu in my country anaesthesia and ICU (which you guys call critical care medicine) where once trained the same and anaesthetists trained before 2000 also did ICU medicine. However they diverged because there is just too much to know in both fields. Was this the case in India as well?
Sorry disagree with work life balance. We are overworked and under paid . No switching off after hospital hrs .phone rings at any time and have to attend .stress is very high especially after 10 yrs of experience. Rest of the video is great.
Discouraging video for who look forward to take it. I had seen a video from same presenter mentioning that the demand is highbit here it is vise versa.
Goode evening sir! I want to take anesthesia this year..but acc.to my rank most likely i will get dnb..so while choosing clg..does it matter its in periphery or not(Is this true more hands on in periphery clg and more of thory/learning in non peripheral clg?)

Thanku sir for this excellent video. Learnt a lot from ur video. Three questions 1. You are telling about the ceiling of earning....can you please tell us what is this ceiling amount for an anaesthesist in a small town? 2. If i get a fellowship degree in critical care will there still be a ceiling on my earnings? 3. How tough to crack a fellowship of IDCCM or PDCC or FNB? Is it as hard as neet pg?

I am writing a novel where one character is an Indian anaesthesiast, and at the moment they have the personality of a coat hanger. Their father is from Mumbai and their mother is from Calcutta.
Thankyou @@DheerajMasapu sir for asking that question. First of all the music is scary. Next thing is about the medicolegal issues in anaesthesia. Never thought of such a situation would be present in anaesthesia also. It's better that panicky personality or anxious personality people select anaesthesia to avoid these situations. Also it will be scary for those who want to become famous as a doctor because anaesthetists work behind the scenes. So I suggest people to choose wisely. Thank you sir for the video it was so informative.❤
