And there's a Batman villain, the Great White Shark.
Multiple superboys. They need to shift to the idea of unstable continuity just just being part of the setting. People run into alternate versions of themselves that didn't exist the previous week, and it's just not worth talking about.
Marvel also had their Shark-themed villains. Aside from Tiger Shark, they had a World War II character called the Shark who showed up in 1977 in Invaders Annual #1 where he - um - stripped Namor of his swimming trunks to give them to the Nazis.
I really like this version, but I also love Hammerhead King Shark, too bad Gunn couldn't make it work, it makes eye contact a pain. In the past several years, we've had SO MANY interpretations of him in media, like: Assault on Arkham: Yeah, was someone's idea of a shark man. I really like the Harley Quinn Version because it’s a refusal to do the obvious trope; plus the characterisation works with the theming of the rest of the show.
I'm also pretty tired of the trope that just because I keep the same name and appearance, that should somehow gel into some kind of consistent "character" or "personality". It's a little too obvious. Just change all that shit along with the scenery and the rest of the house plants that call themselves people.

King Shark is the freaking best! I love all the iterations of him. He's great in The Flash on CW and in the Harley Quinn animated series and I've just always really enjoyed seeing him in things. I don't really have a favourite version but I do really hope the Gunn version of him isn't just "he dumb".

Considering how names should work, The Shark shouldn't even be a shark, he should be a shady loan SHARK. This is why Wolverine isn't a wolverine. Superboy from the 90's is one of my favorite characters, I started collecting comics starting with the death of Superman, and I have every issue of the 90's run. Superboy started with issue 1 (Feb 94). Issue 0 (Oct 94) falls between issues 8 (Sep 94) and 9 (Nov 94), as it was part of the "Zero Hour" event, and all DC titles had an issue 0 in between their regular issues. Still a fan of your channel!
I feel like for superboy specifically having so much back stories being younger and in titans and stuff it's easy to associate him fighting batman villains. But he's also part superman so it makes sense he's fighting superman villains. I get it. I could see why him vs any bad guy would kinda work.
I love the concept of a hyper evolved shark because sharks have been basically the same for millions of years. Fast forward a shark's evolution for a few million years and... You're still just gonna end up with a shark. They pretty much peaked eons ago
Loved this series when I was younger. I always remember Superboy fighting with a villain in the sea and realizing that he didn't know whether he was swimming up to the surface to get air or deeper in the depths to his death. If you want a comic that was way into the 90's youth culture then check out the X-Force Road Trip Years which I think started with issue 70. It was Road Rules before Road Rules or at least The Real World with super powers. B~)

Fist time I ever saw King Shark was in the Assult on Arkham animated movie. I’ll admit that at the time, he didn’t had a very good first impression on me. I’ve only started to actually really like the character in the Harley Quinn animated series and now he’s pretty much one of my favorite DC characters.
Since you seem to enjoy covering Silver Age wackiness, and covered stories that were used in the 50s Superman show... I highly "Batman: The TV Stories" a collection of Silver Age Batman comics that inspired episodes of the Adam West show.

The HQTV series deserves the bulk of the credit of King Shark's recent popularity. It is such an unexpectedly funny and well acted/directed/written take. Finally at some point he have to do an entry comparing Rick Jones and Snapper Carr (two "hip" characters whom the publishers thought would form a connection to "kids"). As for his size, as King Shark notes, he is regular size for a shark but big for a man.

Way to make me feel old, Sasha. "Four or five" when it came out? I was 16-17 and graduating from high school. I had the entire run of that original Superboy run that started in the 90s, until I purged my collection a few years ago. I have a soft spot for those versions of Kon, Tim Drake, Kyle Rayner and Wally West. That said, I am familiar with The Shark, but prefer the King more. I'm not familiar with any of the updates they've done to him since, but I loved him in The Suicide Squad. Nom! Nom!

I’ve only started to actually really like the character in the Harley Quinn animated series and now he’s pretty much one of my favorite DC characters.

The HQTV series deserves the bulk of the credit of King Shark's recent popularity. It is such an unexpectedly funny and well acted/directed/written take.
Finally at some point he have to do an entry comparing Rick Jones and Snapper Carr (two "hip" characters whom the publishers thought would form a connection to "kids").
As for his size, as King Shark notes, he is regular size for a shark but big for a man.

Way to make me feel old, Sasha. "Four or five" when it came out? I was 16-17 and graduating from high school. I had the entire run of that original Superboy run that started in the 90s, until I purged my collection a few years ago. I have a soft spot for those versions of Kon, Tim Drake, Kyle Rayner and Wally West. That said, I am familiar with The Shark, but prefer the King more. I'm not familiar with any of the updates they've done to him since, but I loved him in The Suicide Squad. Nom! Nom!

That's Humberto Ramos? I barely recognized it from the eyes. He draws in a more surreal and expressive style now, and I like it a lot.
I'm not sure if it's the one I like the most or if it's just the one that wins by default because of how well it works within its setting, but Harley Quinn's King Shark being a well-meaning hacker, trying to run away from his responsabilities back home would be hilarious even without Ron Funches' voice.
