    I can’t begin to say how grateful I am that we had presidents like Roosevelt who realized the beauty in these lands and refused to let them be destroyed for future generations. I think our national parks are the greatest thing about the US.

    One error - the video claims Sequoia was the second national park, established in 1890, however, this was not the case. Congress established Mackinac National Park in 1875, consisting of most of Mackinac Island. Like Yellowstone, no money was allocated by Congress for its maintenance, and Mackinac National Park was staffed with Army personnel from Fort Mackinac, also on the island. The Army closed Fort Mackinac in 1895, and at the request of the state of Michigan, Mackinac National Park was disestablished and turned over to the state, which continues to run it today as Mackinac Island State Park.

    i think some were left out by accident like pinnacles and Shenandoah, but never knew white sands had become a national park

      Not by accident -- the original cut of this video included all 62 parks, but it felt too long-winded and boring so about half were cut.

    Did you skip Great Basin NP?

    • @435American
      @435American  3 роки тому +1

      Starting with 1933, I only talked about some of the more notable parks as to not make this video more than double its length-so yes, I did skip Great Basin, but it was intentional. In the bottom left you can see the numbers of each.
