  • This week's video is live. :) We're making one mistake after another in this home renovation, the next one bigger than the last... but thankfully everyone is still (mostly) happy and healthy with the insane amount of work we're tackling 😅. I truly never thought life would take me from traveling full time in a van to brick wall building, tearing down old electrical lines, and running around after three ducks in a DIY garden, all in a post WWII property in the German Countryside, but here we are. This week was a wild one, folks.

Wow Maddie and Elli, you have tackled a lot of hard jobs in the last while… how exhausting! No wonder you needed to put the couch out… you deserve a place to relax! Elli, that was mega hard work making all the lines in the walls for the electricity… not easy holding your arms above your head for so long. You are both extremely hard-working gals… well done! Looking forward to your next video! ❤️👩‍🌾👩‍🌾❤️🐕❤️🐥🐥🐥❤️

You have me re-living my remodeling love story. Following a rough break up I bought a little cottage that had all the major upgrades already completed, new windows, new electrical system. Even though, there was almost a year of new flooring, painting, sealing, etc., to be done. This little cottage took me in and took care of me until I was ready to jump back into life. You will never regret even an ounce of the time, sweat and tears you put into your new home.

There might not be a place you can hang out inside your house while you’re renovating but you have a lovely garden oasis and your ducks to welcome you outside. And that’s not bad.🩷 How satisfying to be able to set up your sofa and have a rest. Even if you’re surrounded by varying degrees of unfinished work, it lets you gaze upon all that you have completed. 😊

Gawd this resonates so hard!! We are 2 months into a renovation. House smelled. Scope much larger than we knew because of so much bad original construction. Everything we own is in storage and we are renting a 400sqft cabin for the 2 of us and our dog with no place to sit.
I just want 1 room that isn’t full of dirt, that doesn’t smell and has my favorite yellow chair to drink coffee from.
    So empathize! 💪💪

I'm amazed at how hard and diligently you and Ellie have worked these last few days, and I praise Ellie's father for treating your woodblock flooring with such care, in addition to the most important electrical work. If your washing machine is kaput, you can always cannibalize its drum to later use it as a nifty firepit for when the chillier autumnal days arrive and you can then roast sweet chestnuts in a pan on top. Otherwise visit a scrap metal merchant and haggle for one. I made a smart perching stool with a 2nd drum, adding a foam cushion as a bum pleaser. In stainless steel the drum-seat looked awesome.
I would like to see you two wearing masks for any dusty work, even when pulling down old curtains. Really, I'm not nagging, but protect your lungs and at all times wear polycarbonate safety glasses to protect your eyes! Maddie, the change from living in a van to living in your house may take a toll on you, but to overcome any stress, please, please go to bed earlier because sleep really helps us emotionally. Cease use of your phones / laptops 2 hours before sleep (try telling my daughters that!!) 😆 You and Ellie's minds and bodies need to rest more. I'm 60 yet still need 9 hours quality sleep. There again, my business is saving lives, so I need to be in top form both physically and emotionally.
Take care both of you. Try and relax more. Much love and hugs, Wendi

Another great video! You ladies are doing an awesome job! I know you’ve heard the saying before, but remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day! I always try to remember that day in (probably) 3rd grade when we were taught that the 4 things you need to survive are Food, Water, Shelter, and Heat. It seems that you have all of those covered. Everything else is just comfort! Yes, your place is a mess, and No it won’t be perfect anytime soon, but it WILL get there and it WILL be perfect one day! As John Lennon said, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”. So, enjoy the journey!

Workshop needs LOTS of shelves. You should be able to walk in and see what u need. Peg board should have all your manual hand tools. Ie. screwdrivers. Players, hammers etc. you fill a tote to do a project. Then carry it back and put in its place when done. Add an electrical outlet every 6’. In every room. Write down which color is what on a wall. Because in two days you’ll forget.
