I've seen Standardbreds react the same way when started in hopples. The only way through it is exposure, just what you're doing.
Some just are real bad about their legs, have to keep at it to help
Why I like watching your channel and the common sense applied to working with your horse. Go back break the issue down move forward in small steps reward the right thing make the wrong thing hard.

You never know how a horse will react to something new. Glad you weren't hurt when she acted out.
i have this horse right now. it will be interesting so see how yours comes along. i like your loop off the horn idea as it seems really adjustable and simple to put in place, i think i'll try this more at britching height first and then gradually drop it down a bit.

Definitely not a good reaction.....sure glad you caught this behavior before someone got hurt!! Once her mind clicks that she is not getting eaten by a shark, she should fine!! 😊 Takes extra steps to correct but important so this nice mare has a future!! Horses like her that are allowed to behave like this can end up in an auction!! A discard!!
There must have been some really scary event involving things touching her rear legs.
Maybe but some horses have mental huddles just like us folks can. She’ll be a better safer horse with this training

Just like everything else, if you can't get improvement to quit on by 45 minutes you've done too much too quick.

She fine for us around her back end, just not ropes.
