I love your approach to this theme. You gave us many options of ways to go about creating our page. I love the use of vintage books, embroidery, hand lettering and documenting part of a passage in your own handwriting. Very inspiring! ❤
So lovely Essie! Anne is one of my favs too. I owned and loved all her books. Read and reread them. Books are definitely dear friends and filled with lovely places we've visited in them.
Just beautiful! Great to hear your voice again. Love your ideas on the travel prompt. I never know what to do with travel stuff as I'm a homebody but your ideas really extend on the topic. Hope you are doing well.
I adore Green Gables and your page turned out beautifully! Thank you for introducing a new method of travel and giving me the word that I have always felt for PEI. It's a "bucket list" destination and the various elements you included only reinforced that for me!
Anne has always touched my heart. It was the first books I ever read and I live in Nova Scotia Canada right next doorbto Prince Edwrmard Island and I love going there and exploring around Green Gables. Such a sweet layout and nice memory.
It must be so wonderful to have such a connection to that place! That extra layer of shared experience with Anne must add so much to the reading experience. The only time I’ve visited Canada we were on the west coast so we didn’t get a chance to visit, but I’m determined to get there one day!
This is so lovely. Thank you for sharing. I used to love Anne Of Green Gables… my friends and I watched the film in the 80’s over and over again. Lots of love from England 🇬🇧❤
Oh, yes, the one with Megan Follows? I loved that too! And I knew the books so well that I could tell every detail that they’d changed or omitted for the adaptation and felt like a true, die hard fan for being expert enough to spot them 😂
Your layout turned out so very well! I am so inspired by your use of the book page and embroidery. So many of us who do any kind of journaling seem to adore L.M. Montgomery's writing. You are right, her imagery is so vivid and you captured it so well with the illustration and the Welsh word. (However you pronounce it!) I'm about to start reading Emily of New Moon. How did this 71 year old lady manage to neglect reading this for so long?! ❤ from Arizona
What a delicious treat to have a ‘new’ book from a favourite author! I’m so excited for you! I can’t tell if we love L. M. Montgomery because we were destined to be creative dreamy types, or if she had a part in making us this way by giving us such a fantastic role model in Anne. It’s probably a bit of both ❤
I'm not 100% sure - I just used a scrap from my miscellaneous stash 😬 Any lightweight, woven interfacing would work. The one I used was an iron-on kind, but you could also use one without that adhesive and glue it on with a light layer of matte medium or similar.
Oh my gosh!! I was not expecting how even more AMAZING the stitching made the illustration!! Gorgeous end result. 🤩

I really love this little page, especially that Welsh word and how you did the stitching on the book page. Really, really lovely.
I too have the connection to PEI and so loved being there and remembering Anne. I thoroughly enjoyed your design and stitching. Thank you.
This is beautiful in every detail. Will also be trying using the interfacing.

It’s on my bucket list too - to wander the ways that Anne trod in my mind is a dream. I hope we both get to make it come true one day!
Oh so pretty! I love the idea of travel through books and stories and games. Thanks for sharing!
I never thought about stitching around a picture like this. Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure! I’m such an embroidery addict, I can’t help myself. Stitches on everything!
Absolutely beautiful and inspiring! Thank you!
Oh, this is so pretty, Essie. Love Anne of Green Gables. This was just all the way lovely to watch.
Thank you, sweet friend! I’m so glad you enjoyed it xxx

I loved this. I travel once a year to the Caribbean and looking at travel in the ways you described is awesome. Lovely layout as well!
Nice to see you back. You are always so creative with your journals. Love the way the stitching looks. Thank you for sharing this.
I’m so glad you like it - thank you for saying so 💐🩷

I love the tassel! That is very cute!
Essie, it's beautiful, and your storytelling of how and why this page evolved was lovely.

So insiring and beautiful 🤩🤩🌾
I'm so pleased you think so - thank you! 🪡
Love this page! Which interfacing did you use? (Can you provide a link?)
