I watched reruns of The Cisco Kid when I was young. Years later I was a bit surprised to learn the ages of Duncan Renaldo (Cisco Kid) and Leo Carrillo (Pancho). Renaldo turned 50 during the show's run and Carrillo turned 70 right before the show began. They both looked younger, especially Carrillo.
One of John Elredge's last roles..was playing a racetrack secretary on an episode of"Mr.Ed"..another semi-regular on"The Adventures Of Superman"TV Show..Ben Weldon also appeared on that show as a race track tout.
I remember reading about Gary Cooper's sad death at only 60 in May 1961 from cancer. I did not know it was specifically prostate cancer. He was one of the best and highest-profile actors in the Golden Age of Hollywood, and will never be forgotten!
He was very ill during the last roles he had and sadly his mother was in attendance at his funeral and was 87 years old. His prostate cancer spread into his lungs and bones before his death.
@@scottknode898 Thank you for that interesting info. So Cooper's mom survived him. That's not the way it is supposed to be. He was beloved by almost everyone in the acting community. He was almost exactly in real life the men he portrayed on the silver screen. Take your pick: "Sergeant. York" ("Best Actor" award) or Lou Gehrig ("The Pride of the Yankees"), or Marshall Will Kane ("High Noon" ('Best Actor' award) or a combination. The first award was presented by his good friend Jimmy Stewart. How many well-known people does anybody know who come from Helena, MT? His real birth name was Frank James Cooper. I don't believe there has been any actor as beloved or as admired as Coop, with the possible exception of the very similar man, good friend Jimmy Stewart. Both are the same type of courageous men whether portrayed as a character on their films, but also in life, and deeply missed from the last Golden Age of Hollywood in the same era. The American Film Institute (AFI) ranked Cooper at #11 on its list of the 25 Greatest Male Stars of classic Hollywood cinema. Gary Cooper, 60 (May 7, 1901 Helnea, MT - May 13, 1961 Los Angeles, CA)

The popular race car driver Tony Bettenhausen was killed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 12, 1961 while testing another driver's car. The real shame is that this accident was clearly not Tony's fault - a part on the unfamiliar race car broke which caused the tragedy.
Ernest Hemingway also wrote From Whom a Bell Tolls which is a song by Metallica but he wrote A Farewell To Arms based on his experiences when he served in World War 1 as an Ambulance Driver and was seriously wounded . He was in a lot of pain and poor health at end of his life and was suffering from hemochromatosis when diagnosed in 1961 before committing suicide and dealing with severe depression.
A lot of people smoked and drank heavily then as well contributing to heart attacks, cancer etc a lot of legendary Hollywood golden age actors died in their 50s and 60s or younger like Humphrey Bogart in 1957 from esophageal cancer at 57, Gary Cooper in 1961, Errol Flynn in 1959 at age 50, Clark Gable in 1960 at age 59 all from years smoking and drinking that caught with them.
Gary Cooper was so loaded with charm and overall charisma. It was a shame he died so relatively young. Fine, Fine actor and human being. He played especially well against another legendary actor (I prefer the term actress), Ms. Barbara Stanwyck.
Mr.Joe Schenck's brother..Mr.Nick Scheneck went to take over Lowe's Inc. after the death of the company's founder Marcus Lowe and he ran the NYC offices of MGM.
Gail Russell did not die of malnutrition, she died of an alcohol indicted heart attack caused by her drinking. I know, I have a copy of her death certificate.
There were two things that surprised me about Duncan Reynaldo: First of all, he was actually Romanian. Secondly, , he served a short sentence at McNeil Island Federal Pennitentury. I think it had something to do with illegal entry into the United States. When a drama group I was traveling with decades ago did a performance at the prison, Mr. Reynaldo's autographed picture was on the wall in the warden's office.
Ah, Lee de Forest! An inventor, a self promoter, an egomaniac. He invents the triode vacuum tube, so electronic signals can be amplified. Very important. From this he anoints himself "The Father of Radio. " Are you listening, Marconi?
I must admit, the majority of these people, I don't recall. However, I am glad to hear of them now. May they all rest in peace 🎉. Thank you 😊 for posting this. 4/13/24.
Hemingway is buried with his last wife in Ketchum, Idaho. Interestingly, Kerchum doesn't publicize Hemingway, doesn't do any Hemingway Festivals, best of bad Hemingway contests, etc.
I wasn’t born yet but heard of plenty of these people. Dag Hammersjholt, I saw his plane crash story on Mayday. It’s interesting that many of these people were born in the 1800’s, which one, a female was born in 1861. Wow, I’d sure would have liked to talk to her. I think Marion Davies was William Randolph Hearsts mistress for a very long time.
Even though I don't remember some of these people, because I was only 3, I find this channel very informative.
It helps young(er) people see who lived before them, who had a large influence on our present life.
1961, the year I was born... another wonderful video, thank you. 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it

😊 I must admit, I am more familiar with the Cisco Kid radio series than the television show. 4/13/24.
I have several Cisco Kid Episodes on DVDs that I bought from a Dollar Store 20 years ago!!
I was also surprised by the ages of Carrillo and Renaldo.
" The Cisco Kid " was one of the first TV shows filmed in
color.
True and they hated each other's guts.
One of John Elredge's last roles..was playing a racetrack secretary on an episode of"Mr.Ed"..another semi-regular on"The Adventures Of Superman"TV Show..Ben Weldon also appeared on that show as a race track tout.
Frank Faye was also the first performer to play"Elwood P.Dowd"in the original Broadway stage production of"Harvey".
48 was much too young for Joan Davis to pass away. She was great on "I Married Joan" with Jim Backus as Judge Bradley Stephens.
I've never heard Hemingway's voice before, and it was not AT ALL like what I expected.

There were an awful lot of heart attacks of men in their 40s and 50s this year. Also, most of these people were born before 1900.

Anna May Wong and Belinda Lee were so pretty andd so was Joan Davis and Gail Russell!
I came a year later and through my mom i remember most of the actors. I also knew some of the more famous writers. Great video, hope to see "62" soon
That's an interesting quote. (Benjamin Franklin. )
Yes, its very profound .
& very true .
I remember learning the name Gary Cooper from the 1983 song Puttin' on the Ritz by Taco Ockerse which was actually a cover of an old 1930's song.
Gary Cooper was so loaded with charm and overall charisma. It was a shame he died so relatively young. Fine, Fine actor and human being. He played especially well against another legendary actor (I prefer the term actress), Ms. Barbara Stanwyck.
Jeff Chandler was a very good actor who was in a lot of movies worth watching, rip.
Barry Fitzgerald was one of my FAVES!!!! He was soooooo GOOD in "Going My Way"!!!! Of course, "The Academy" must have thought so as well!!!!
Year I was born 🤗
Me too, the only year if you turn it upside down still is same year…try it 😉
R.I.P. Gary Cooper.

It's amazing and tragic to see so many young people passing away from heart attacks on this list
Mr.Joe Schenck's brother..Mr.Nick Scheneck went to take over Lowe's Inc. after the death of the company's founder Marcus Lowe and he ran the NYC offices of MGM.
Thanks for that, Kevin.
Jeff Chandler was the original
Mr. Boynton on the radio version of " Our Miss Brooks " .
This is the best of the obituary video sites.

Sad how the truth of Michael Rockefeller's disappearance may will never be known.
Some think he may have had his head shrunk, and I don't mean psychotherapy.

Wow, Gary Cooper died 3 days after I was born.
Love Chico's Italian takes on the English language. It added so the the overall mayhem for the Marx Brothers.

Most of these died relatively young compared to today's standards. Most would now be in their 100s had they not died.
Most of this people are forgotten already, like they never existed, i wonder if i die before my dog if he will remember me? 😮
Wow very interesting Edith Galt Wilson passed away on President Wilson's 105th birthday
If you watched The Big Bang Theory you know all about Schrodinger's cat!😅😅
I'w=d like you to put the birth year too so I don't have to try to calculate it every time. I love your videos!
2:15 That sounds a lot like Lou Gehrig in a speech at Yankee Stadium after being diagnosed with ALS, not Gary Cooper.
No, it was from the movie.
@@inmemoriam2000 Thanks - you’re correct. Of all the Cooper clips they could have played they picked one that mimics a real person.

R.I.P. Ernest Hemingway.
Somehow I imagined Ernest Hemingway’s voice to be more rugged, manly. His actual voice sounded like a girl’s.
I always wondered why the 'Mayor' of 'Mayberry ' was only in the early episodes. He Died not long After Andy Griffith debuted in 1960.Too Bad.
I wasn’t born yet but heard of plenty of these people. Dag Hammersjholt, I saw his plane crash story on Mayday. Rumor was that Citizen Kane's last word, "Rosebud," was Hearst's nickname for a favorite part of Davies' anatomy.
I’m reading a sort of autobiography of Davies. I think she was with Hearst for 35 years.
