I always feel so sad about Clara Blandick. Wracked with the pain of rheumatoid arthritis, told she was going blind, she took her own life on Palm Sunday, leaving behind a note that ended, “I pray the Lord my soul to take.” May she truly rest in peace.

Beatle for only a short while, mostly an artist. Sutcliffe, from what I read, couldn't play the bass so when the Beatles were on stage, Sutcliffe had his back turned towards the audience.

Thomas Mitchell also "Uncle Billy" in It's A Wonderful Life. And for me, the Father of five sons, all killed on the same ship in WWII. The movie based on the event is called "The Fighting Sullivans". Their ship, USS Juneau was in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal when on November 13, 1942 their ship was attacked and sunk in a huge explosion. All five Sullivan brothers were killed with only 10 survivors of the entire crew of 687. The wreckage was located in 2018. Two ships were later named, one a successor called the USS Juneau and another named USS Sullivans. I watched the movie as a kid and have never forgotten it. It also was the reason going forward that brothers, with some exceptions, are not allowed to serve on the same ship in a war zone.

That movie about the Sullivan's is on UA-cam. I watch it on or around Memorial Day. Albert was always my favorite

Their deaths were also the reason for the 'sole surviving son' rule for the U.S. military as depicted in 'Saving Private Ryan', enacted so that family lines would not end. Just as an aside, I believe the ship was named, USS The Sullivans, but perhaps I'm wrong.

Will Wright. The only show I remember him from is the one left off this clip. Weaver's Department store owner in "The Andy Griffith Show" and most prominently the ONLY Christmas episode of the entire run of the show from 1960 to 1968. Andy Griffith had a lame excuse for it being the only one but it was likely a dislike of the holiday by most of the crew. I had read that Aunt Bea wanted no part of another Christmas episode and others may have felt the same.

Also in 1962. Kings County, Ca rural Hanford had its horrible tragedy on March 21, 1962. 15 year old Marlene Miller, a High School Sophomore was home alone sewing a dress for a upcoming first date she was looking forward to. She was beaten, raped and stabbed with her own scissors by Booker T. Hillery in back of her house. I was only 3 going on 4 at the time but for 70s, 80s and 90s there were follow up articles in Newspapers and News Channels even followed up on this. Very sad and senseless that she lost her life at 15. R.I.P. MARLENE MILLER.

I wonder since Lucy was not a racist if it had something to do with the problem they had at first "allowing" Desi Arnaz - being a Cuban - to the on The I Love Lucy Show. At times I read they called their being an interracial couple. Lucy was never racist and always stood up for

    • @LJ-ht4zs

always stood up for causes (not as an activist) but though her language ie about gay people and had a black maid for decades. When she rented a hotel in NYC while she was in Wildcat and her maid was told she could not use the white people's elevator, Lucy immediately said, that if her maid was not is allowed she was moving out
. I heard that the rat pack, when they performed in Las Vegas, black people were not allowed to eat in restaurants with whites and had to stay in separate hotels. It seems that Sammy Davis Jr had to endure that - which surprised me - Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford weren't racist and personally knew many owners that not one of them said anything to break the color barrier in those areas although Sammy Davis Jr performed with them on stage.

I too remember the day that MM’s death was announced. It occurred a few weeks before my 9th birthday. Several years earlier, my father had taken me to see “Some Like It Hot” - quite a treat for a 6-year-old! It’s the only MM film I can say I saw in its original release. My mother once told me that as a young boy, I’d look around on buses and subway trains to see if any of the women looked like Marilyn Monroe, a detail of my life for which I have only a vague memory.
