  • The first of a number of videos from the Ffestiniog Railway's 2018 Victorian Weekend.
Filmed from the train, enjoy the sight and sound of Taliesin slipping on the wet morning rails on the Saturday. It was an excellent effort from the crew to recover the situation.

It was certainly an eventful run through the forest, although given they ran out of sand in one of the sandboxes and the other kept clogging up, the crew did a sterling job in getting up to Tan-y-Bwlch

I think that in slipping conditions it would be better to give little steam so that the friction condition remains rolling and not sliding friction, so the progress of the locomotive will be better! With my compliments for the great footage: Cheers, Fabrizio

Autumnal leave fall and the ruling gradient of 1:80 makes it more difficult to maintain traction regardless of how little you give it.

See what difference the sanding makes when finally (belatedly?) applied at 15:00.

Doesn't the engine have a sanding system? Someone should have gotten out and pushed, yep before it rolled back that is.
