My parents built our house in 1969 when I was three. We had powder blue and bright yellow tiled bathrooms, an avocado green oven, dishwasher and refrigerator in the kitchen, orange shag carpet, and a completely paneled rec room with a red and black squared linoleum floor.
That was VERY fashionable!! If it wasn’t the avocado green, or orange, it was red/black. My husband’s mother had a room that was red and black. We called it, “The Bordello Room.”
When we bought my in-laws house, we pulled paneling off of most of the walls and painted over the rest. Every wall was brown paneling. After repairing and replastering and putting sheet rock where necessary. The house is beautiful now.
I painted over many Wood panling ,really don't like. Glad my grandma didn't put Panning up after we spent 3 days peeling offul wallpaper. She just went back to paint and I was so glad. Textured walls, when I was a real little girl. We had texture walls and it had glitter in them. And we loved them
Nothing wrong with wood paneling, but I'm an introverted guy that doesn't care at all what visitors think. The old 3/16th wood paneling was VERY economical. I wish it would make a comeback. You could finish your walls at around 1/8th the cost of drywall, and even a drunk just working for his next twelve pack could install it good.
Okay, how about the “mirror” wall with the gold vein running through it??!! It was usually in the dining room, because some article said it made a room bigger.
C'est le temps de ma jeunesse mais je ne connais personne qui avait ces horreurs de plus mes fauteuils étaient des authentiques fauteuils moulés de couleurs blanche avec de discrets coussins attachés de couleurs marron clair, ces fauteuils sont maintenant recherchés et je les ai toujours dans ma bibliothèque. Je n'aime que le carrelage et sans tapis même des les chambres et c'est plus hygiénique donc tout le monde ne mettait pas ces tapis à grands poils; J'ai 76 ans donc j'ai très bien connu cette période;
Some of those wild wallpaper designs literally made me sick 🤢. However, I loved the golden brown shag carpet and woodgrain panelling in the house I grew up in!

Nice choice .
Remember those "rain" lamps? Had a statue in it and oil would drip along thin wires.
Don’t forget the fake plants. Or how about a “shell” lamp. Macrame stuff too.

Who remembers trying to figure out how to play the 5-note Close Encounters theme on your touch-tone phone? 😊
Remember the pebble effect kitchen lino that was popular back then . Engendered a feeling of walking on the beach
We had wood paneling, avocado green kitchen appliances and burnt orange carpeting and kitchen tile.
1970… I was 12!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
