more than a little bit of help!, This about the best video out there in decades....simple..I come from the Puerto Rican scene and there is no way that anyone would reveal to any one the pattern of practice to play the the quinto like you do in this video...for them is a secret.not so much that it should be a secret, but rather that it is "Power" to know something others dont know and they choose not to share it
Thanks Michael, you have no idea how long I've been looking for a training like this. I used it last weekend when I got together with my rumberos friends and it worked like a charm ..
Michael. My journey in the world of Afro-Cuban percussion started many years ago when the resources for learning correctly were very few. You have used this contemporary technology to the fullest, kudos my friend. Your teaching methods and philosophy are exemplary--great foundational material from which to build on and develop individuality. Living in the U.S. now but born in NL (Arnhem area). Ik wens jou het beste en nog veel succes mi amigo
Thank you very very much, you are really a good teacher! Many years ago I went to Cuba and I 've been to Justo Pelladito home to take some classes... Now I play djembè, but conga is always my first love! :
Thank you, David. I'm glad that this video is useful for You. On my Patreon site I have Percussion Play Along tracks with Rumba, where you can practise solos: www.patreon.com/MichaeldeMiranda I wish you good luck!
The bass played by the right hand is important. The 2 basses (or palms) with the left hand are important for the timing. I've learned this pattern from my Cuban teacher and he used the bass of his right hand as a strong point where he ended lots of his variations.
Than you very much! And I know people like you describe. For me it is simple, if I can help people, I will do that and if I can learn from others, I am happy. So just share knowledge!
i think i requested some lesson on thge Yamboo, tres golpes and pozo's comparsas, and the afro cuban beat that made mongo so popular. you're the best brother...Rico Montalvo
Michael de Miranda you are a very good teacher. I started practicing with the bongos watching your lessons I'm already playing them in church I also been practicing with the conga but I get lost with my left hand I'll get it someday. thank you for taking your time explaining every lesson it is really helpful
hi mike, i just went into youtube to check out some of your stuff and upon several attempts i find that all of your stuff has been taken off. wht's up? i really enjoyed your stuff and want to see what happened. let me know how i can get into some site that has your stuff. I think that you give a good ilustration of your work. keep up the good work. ricom..
@nanigo Hi, thank you for your comment and compliment! Unfortunately I don't have a video. Perhaps in the future, because more people are asking me for a DVD. I'll keep you informed!
+Nelson Vega Hi Nelson, I bought these congas in Cuba in the eighties. They don't make them anymore, because they can't import the from Angola any more.... But I don't know the name.
+Michael de Miranda Thank you Michael, mine were bought in the 70's and made of fibreglass. Wooden congas with that traditional look and sound is superior in my humble opinion. 2 questions. Do you moisturize the skins, and what key do you tune each drum?
ijust got your message. i just wanted to touch base w/u/2 let you know that the problem was fixed. it was on my end that it was happening. anyway i've been playing for many years just for fun.there was a time i played those neighborhood clubs.i was raised in new york and was foertunate enough to grow up with tony n manny jimenez both went through Juliard school of music. tony ended up w/larry harlow for many years. my 2nd instr was Papi Torres who played w/ tito Rod 4 mny yrs both good inst lkeU
A QUESTION ABOUT A DETAIL... hey, I've noticed that at the beginning of the film you play 3 bass sounds and when you continue with the clave pattern there's only one... Is it something meaningful? I guess there are dozens of ways to do it, personal preferences also are important, but what is the "Cuban" way to do it? Btw, thanks for the videos man....
by going to 2230,your site i get all of your videos, but i still can't see your video's. i go to other sites and it works fine. on all of your stuff the screen comes out black with a message that reads; this video is currently unavailable.
