The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via CBS All Access, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. Normally I would give praises to the writers for making the monologue funny. Today Trump literally wrote all the jokes himself.

What did he do wrong??? Politicians get dirt from opponents from any source. That's always been that way. Also countries are always trying to influence each other countries elections. Isreal constantly influences our elections. In the 2016 election, Ukraine and England governments provided a ton of dirt on the Trump campaign while Russia and Israel supported the Trump campaign. There's nothing illegal or bad about that. It happens all the time. People are only bitching now because they don't like Trump personally and because there's lots of political forces with financial interests that want to keep Russia as our enemy even though they aren't.

We are just constantly fed by the media the idea that they are our enemy and aggressive to justify huge military complex budgets....also the government needs a buggyman to use it as fear to better control the population. Also the media is constantly dividing the population.... lastly we say Russia is the agressor yet we are the ones that have armored units stationed in their borders we have anti ballistic systems on their borders and we overthrew the government of their neighbor in 2014. So who is the aggressor? Imagine if Russia did that to us in Mexico?

Foreign governments and private interest groups are always funding different projects to influence people's opinions and votes. That's is how the ball rolls. In the end it's up to the individual person to make an informed decision or vote and issue. There will always be those spreading deception for political or monetary gain.... The fact that here we all have to vote by law maybe a good thing but we have a system that works on preferences so it too takes the power away from the people because the government makes the decision to whom they will align with. No wonder that around the world so many are so disillusioned with their governments too much power.

The problem exists with the electorate and having direct election of executive power. The current system works on the assumption of an infinitely knowledgeable electorate, perfect communication, and ideal judgement, when, in reality, the electorate knows almost nothing about what a president does, and doesn't have the time or inclination to determine reality from fiction. In particular the US has a culture of promoting delusional beliefs and accepting ignorant opinions as being as valid as wise ones. It wasn't the electoral college that gave the US Trump, it was the US.

If you say Sweden his supporters will have a hissy fit because the alt-right likes to imagine it as a dystopia because of progressive policies on gender relations and migration. Bringing Sweden up might also put a dent in that delusion.
He occasionally does use Finland instead, but Finland is in the Euro zone. Using them as a possible example would validate the Euro.
He can't really use Germany because he has an adversarial relationship with their leadership. They're also a key member of the EU and the Euro.
He can't use The Netherlands because they're also an original core EU member and Euro as well as having a progressive reputation.
He probably would use Austria if he and his base knew about Austria as they're a less central EU and Euro member as well as more conservative. I think the reason he doesn't is that the name is close to Australia's and that would confuse him and his base.
I'm not sure why he doesn't use Switzerland, maybe because of their more radical democratic system. Neither he nor his followers seem to be that keen on democracy.
