His lawyers aren't bad people. Defense attorneys are required by law to defend their clients. He's 100% guilty, but the defense lawyer's job is to defend, no matter what he did.

This one hit me so hard. My son's birthday is 11/25. I remember being heavily pregnant the week of Thanksgiving, preparing for a holiday baby. Everyone in my family was so excited, including my husband. It was joyous and so special, just the way it ought to be. This strong and loving family had so much taken from them, I'm so terribly sorry for that loss and so outraged at this disgusting excuse for a firefighter. He betrayed everyone in his life by what he did, and he stole a strong woman and a baby with all the potential of becoming a strong adult someday from the world...he betrayed society. I hope he rots.

Also, the stove knobs were in the _off_ position which was another giveaway. Thirdly, his demeanor during that first interrogation was telling. Who answers "OH OK" after being told that the mother of your soon-to-be born son suddenly dies in fire?!
Also, why is his DNA there if it was an accidental fire?? The defence saying there was no evidence he harmed her is destroyed by the same DNA. If he was just there to talk his DNA should not be under her nails. No soot in her airways is the clincher.

After seeing the corruption in the system and that you have to be a defense attorney, I said NOPE. I cannot defend people like this or lie myself. Period. And it happens allllll the time where the client will confess to their attorney (because it’s attorney/client privilege) but the attorney still defends them as if they’re innocent simply because there’s no physical evidence connecting them. There’s not a single cell in my body that can do that. Especially when there are people being put through pain going through this process. Will never happen. Obviously he shouldn't have killed them, but that doesn't mean her actions weren't questionable too. She probably thought he would come around eventually, but telling his parents wasn't her place.

What I find so fascinating about interrogations is the room theyre held in is strategically set up to accomplish ONE GOAL...A CONFESSION. From the gray walls, chair placements, chair styles for example the suspects chair has no wheels which means the suspects cant move around the floor but the cops chairs have wheels to allow the cops to scoot closer or back away. The whole good cop bad cop facade is a great act. I bet more than half of the suspects don't know about body language and how they eventually confess without saying a word. These cops are so highly trained in effective interrogation strategy and I'm HERE FOR IT !!!!! ❤

IMO, she made a big mistake by telling his parents. That invaded a boundary that probably he felt threatened by. She apparently didn't believe him when he said he didn't want to be a Dad. She sent ultrasound pictures, mistake. She kind of pushed him to take on responsibilities he emphatically did not want. She deserved better than that.

I’m just at the beginning of the video, and I’m not trying to blame the victim here, but it sounds like she was trying to pressure him into becoming involved with pregnancy and baby, specially when she told his parents. He obviously didn’t want anything to do the baby, and it sounds like he was very clear about it from the beginning. Why insist? It seems like she had a good support system, so she didn’t need him around.
He is still responsible for his actions, and should face the consequences accordingly, but can’t help but think that maybe this tragedy could’ve been avoided, had she just let it go.

When someone tells you they don't want children, believe them. Don't push them and call their family and hold out hope they might change their mind. You might think you know someone but the truth is you can never actually know anyone, and when people are backed into a corner they can become unpredictable. There was no reason she needed to do any of those things, she had all the support she needed from her family...why try to force a parent that doesn't want your child to be there? She didn't deserve this to happen to her, it happened because she thought she knew someone and could trust them, but she didn't and she couldn't.

I personally do not think it’s a good idea to have a baby by someone who is against it. Too many fish in the sea, too many ppl who are okay with a co parenting situation to have to have a baby with someone or by someone who was so against it. Matt was so against it, that’s a huge red flag. Tying yourself to a person unnecessarily for life isn’t an ideal situation to me. At the same time though, they could have been married and it could have been the same outcome. That’s what makes these cases so unbearable.
Regardless, Melissa had the right to live and have that baby. Plain and simple

She may be warning others to carefully choose partners and know their procreation stances before becoming too involved. Sometimes that’s not apparent until the pregnancy happens, though. And then he made the cruel decision to end her life and the life of her son that he could have just walked away from. Now he’s rotting in prison where he belongs.

It's not true that Melissa wasn't asking him for anything. She was obviously hell-bent on him being involved in the child's life to the extent that she informed his parents of the pregnancy. Insistent on keeping him abreast of the pregnancy. Hell yeah she'd have filed for child support and hell yeah she'd have informed any future partner of his of their child. No one should be forced to be a parent. However, she didn't deserve to die.

Maybe, but cops aren't interested in your innocence. I think most defendants who don't lawyer up are hoping to go home that day, guilty or not.

But I don't begrudge ppl for requesting counsel, I think everyone is different.
