Excellent video! Opens my eyes to how a farm works and using our God’s creation to raise our food. God bless brother and keep the great videos coming
Well said!
Amen
Amen
He sounds like he reads the Bible and learn from the Bible
You’re absolutely right! Joel Salatin’s methods benefits all aspects of farming. Lots of modern day agriculture only benefits the animals for meat. Joel Salatin’s methods benefits the livestock, our health, our planets health, and the land the livestock graze on. It’s incredible! ✝️
This man is a walking, talking farm encyclopedia. Very impressed with his knowledge and approach. Politicians who think just anyone can farm should have an afternoon with him and tour his operation.
Exactly. Joel has all the grey matter
But but but they said farming was for the unskilled simpletons???? Wonder who the real simpletons are? farmers or politicians?
@@tollav Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were farmers. Check out Cato's preface to his farming 'how to' book. soilandhealth.org/wp-content/uploads/01aglibrary/010121cato/catofarmtext.htm
Amen Steve ! You got that right, he is a man of skill, knowledge, hard work and integrity. Salt of the earth.
I grew up in the city. I Would have paid more attention in school if he taught a farming curriculum. Not all public schools has the privilege of a garden.
You young people owe this man such a debt of gratitude. He is making the farming process doable. Lots of persistence and listening to nature and the world God gave us. He is making the most of and sharing the gifts he has been given. He connects all the dots to his creator. Thank you, Joel.
In the Bible, God doesn’t mandate for all of His followers to farm. We are happy God lead us away from the awful toxic and damaging practices of homesteading and farming and onto a better living environment. God bless!
@@EmilyGloeggler7984God created us to farm the land and care for the animals. It right in the first chapter of Gen.
Joel is a man full of wisdom, youve got a good friend there.
Joel Salitin changed my life. I've known I've wanted to homestead for years, but, as a college student, I didn't feel it was the "right time" just yet. However, after watching an interview Justin Rhodes did with him, I was so moved by his process that I decided there was no time like the present. Thanks to your channel, Justin Rhodes, and Sow the Land I had accrued enough knowledge to get me started. I only have a small flock of chickens but when I graduate and can afford some mountain land it won't be so daunting to really dive into animal husbandry. God bless.
Good on ya Christopher! God Bless you and your efforts.
taking action; excellent. Uh, being a selfish human ;) may i suggest you document your journey in video? you are going to make mistakes, I'm 54 and I STILL make mistakes, but you'll learn from them as Joel has I assure you and you would be doing a great service to the farming community.
That’s so cool, God bless you and your homestead! ✝️
I have watched Joel Salatin for at least 15 years. When he was younger he spread his way of farming all over the US. He is so intelligent about how he runs his farm! He works with nature not against her.
what Joel is doing on Polyface is great...and it aint exactly rocket science. As farmers we all must work along with nature...what Joel and his family have figured out is that it's much easier to work with nature than to fight nature! Very good point for sure! Many of the concepts that Joel uses are used on my farm
Joel hats off to you sir. The world needs men like you. Be well and god bless.
This guy is a living legend.
Josh I love everything you do but this episode here was especially great I learned a lot thank you
Glad to hear it!
Love the channel. I have a suggestion for your next video. Ive seen several videos online from Joel and some of his inspired farmers. Its super encouraging but I'm always left with a few open questions. It would be great if you could do a video on these items!
1.How do the small scale farms navigate the USDA and similar state requirements for on site butchering and sale of the animals (regardless of animal type)
2. How do the farmers market in their local area to find buyers for their animals. Many say friends and family but would be so awesome to hear details of how they found buyers.
Joel Salatin is one of the finest examples of a human being out there. Have followed his work for many many years and put his methods to work on my own farm.
He is 100% wrong about coronavirus and part of the problem. Sorry, but the reason New Zealand has 0 cases and we're drowning in deaths and suffering and massive hospital costs are people like him.
M P please explain?
This is so cool! I recently read Joel's book "Folks, This ain't normal" after watching your channel. Farming needs to come back so we can control what goes into our food, not the government.
You kept Joe standing in one spot for over 5 minutes. That must be the most grass that ever grew under Joe's feet. Lol. Thank you for the great video. 👍
It is so refreshing to see more videos that highlight how we can work organically together with the Earth; which provides Organic Food, Shelter & Water for all Creatures to live and thrive together. Our Native American People were the first Farmers, Ranchers and Stewards of Living off the Earth, and all that She Provides. We thank You and Appreciate You for the commitment, dedication and sacrificing your time in providing these videos. They add more and more value every time I watch them.
OMGosh Joel is just up the road from you? That's cool.
He is so kind, so generous in sharing his knowledge, and he is always smiling, always happy. I guess I would be happy too if I were living on a farm.
I love the brilliance of how Joel Salatin farms and manages the various animals. I only learned about him this year. Don't know why I had never heard of him before, but now I am devouring every video and book I can find! Thank you for this video/interview.
He's a wealth of knowledge for sure
Wow. What an interesting and informative tour of Joel's farm. He obviously knows the science behind what he is doing. Amazing video. Thanks for the tour.
Pure experience!! Ans I agree, he is awesome.!!
Joel has an incredible farm setup that we all can learn from! Great video. Thank you
Wow !!! I totally enjoyed watching this video. Joel is a walking encyclopedia regarding what is an amazing farming method. Thanks for bringing us along to visit his farm ... 👌☝️👍.
You both bless me so much!!! This is hopefully the future of my retirement!!! Thanks for your great videos!
Joel Salatin is one cool guy who knows of what he speaks. I could listen to him all day despite being mired here in suburbia. That was a truly great video.
That was very kind of Joel to give you a personal tour of his farm and share his decades of knowledge with us and even to "Whooo!" with you at the end.
Joel is a good fella...and we made a generous donation to Polyface farm for his time and attention....he's done so much good for the farming community..he's a wealth of knowledge!
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to share all this with us.
This type of farming makes so much sense it ought to catch on like wild fire. Mr. Joel sure knows his stuff and it's great to hear how much knowledge he has and I can see how he loves life.
I love your videos and love listening to you talk in them. Yet when in the presence of the legendary Joel Salatin you demonstrated great restraint and wisdom to let Joel do most of the talking in your video. You showed great respect for one of the greatest. Thank you.
Good interview Josh, Joel is a wealth of knowledge!
Joe is very informative and knowledgeable his explainations are laced together with lots of common sence and his braces are something else, the very best I've ever seen, thanks Joe I really got lots of satisfaction out of this video....
The way family and life should be. It's hard work and at the end of the day you may be a bit sore but look forward to the next sunrise. Thanks, SRF for taking us along and sharing. 🚜-Woooooo!!!
i am not a farmer ,dont own land ,dont have animals except cats and at 67 i probably never will, however this video is among the MOST interesting/eyeopening videos i have ever seen .the knowledge , humility and love of the earth that this man exudes gives hope for human existence without destruction .great video mr stoney ridge farmer
Amazing ! Love to see this kind of farming and it will help our planet 🥰
Very smart guy and one of the most thought out farms I've ever seen. Great video!
Joel Salatin is the man! My plan is to farm like this.
Josh, this was a phenomenal post. I was born 79 years ago and raised on a farm, but today I learned a bunch. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing this I am a huge fan of Joel and his way of farming! He has helped me learn how to raise diversified livestock in a natural and healthy way!
Wow, Just Wow! You got Salatin to say Whoooo!!!! 🤩
wow, what i admire about this is there is no dissenting of his 'competition' but simplistic honesty about the 'stewardness' of true farming or pharmacopoeia!! i first saw this guy in a documentary called 'Earthings" this is totally nostalgic as it brings back many childhood memories visiting my grandparents organic dairy farm!
This guy need his own show I can watch him all day so informative and love how he explains things
Farming in harmony with nature and Gods creation, the ultimate in stewardship. What a great video!
Hey Brother,
It's been a dream of mine to live on a small farms since I was a kid. Having a farm someday is my dream. I think all I need is 5-10 acres and that should be plenty for the wife and I to manage. And, thank you for sharing your good and bad farm experiences, they are invaluable.
THIS is So GREAT. Looking ahead and working with nature is always a good way. Many Blessing for the lesson.
Hi Josh. Joel’s an absolute inspiration what a great vlog. He’s a wealth of knowledge and great principles. 👍🏻
Salatin is a living legend! Amazing video - I hope one day to meet him
I have watched a lot of videos of Joel, you covered some questions I have not seen the answers to before! Great job! Thank you
Thanks....yep...I'm not sure that anyone has done what we did today on Polyface...a true look at the systems in place there on the farm...not tackling just one subject..but most all subjects was my goal..getting a true picture of what's happening on this farm
Josh, my wife and I visited Pollyface Farm on our honeymoon and plan to go back for our 1 year anniversary. While watching a video on this channel about a month ago we noticed you wearing a polyface shirt! I respect the pigness of the pigs. WOO!!
Man, Josh this is an excellent video. Joel has a wealth of great information to share with those who will listen.
I think I'm going to look him up and try to go visit his place and maybe get in on some of that great education he has to offer.
Josh thanks for encouraging us to feed the world.
I could listen to this educational information for weeks on end
welcome to the farm channel!!
Great video Josh. I’m a big fan of Joel and his farming practices.
Great video Josh, amazing people and farms!! Thanks for sharing Joel!
Fascinating!! What an awesome video. Thank you for the tour and taking the time to pass on the extensive knowledge that this farmer has. He has really done his homework and a gift to the world.
Mr. Salatin I have been following you for years and have the utmost respect.
Please please grab the ear of all these big ag fools who are now panicking over not having chemical fertilizers. Cattle feed lots and dairy farms, egg and meat bird "farms" have manure in abundance. Cover crops and rotational grazing and not one person will go hungry.
Perhaps now we have the opportunity to change how our food is grown.
Exactly how my grandmother taught me to "farm" in the 70s. I've made hundreds of those exact same chicken tractors over the last 40-50 years
Howdy from the Great Lake State , central Michigan ! 🤠 This episode was really cool 👌👍👏. Thanx so much . What a great way to encourage your audience . Keep on keep'n on ! Happy Homesteading 🌞
Look how thick and lush his grass is!
This has been a awesome tour I really have enjoyed . And this gentleman is very knowledgeable of how the whole farm and animals. Thank u for sharing this farm and his operation.
Joel Salatin is the king of farming.
One of your best yet. Full of info and ideas. Well done.
That was a very good video and I really liked all the information on raising the pasture chickens and pigs. I like the way you built your movable chicken coops compared to his , your look easier to move. I think I may be building some coops like yours real soon . Thanks for the info
I like the way you asked key questions that focused and clarified. You let Joel shine. So many people that do Poly face farms videos get in the way and in the process of making the video they blur the message. Yore Video is well shot and the images are well chosen. Thanks.
I can’t get enough of his teaching he is awesome 👏
I love this man, with this man goes so much information. I would had loved growing up with this as my dad.
60 years of farming teaches ya something don't it!
Loved this ! Every time I listen to him, I learn something else. I could watch him everyday.
I really enjoyed this whole video. Joel is incredibly knowledgeable, and it was a real treat to see how he does things. Thanks!
I feel like I have to watch this one again with a pen and paper! Awesome!
for sure!
So much science in farming that most people never realize.
it's all science!!
That dude is a national treasure. What a awesome farm set up and wealth of knowledge.
I could listen to this guy forever the knowledge you can get from this man
So much knowledge. Thanks for putting this in the records. I'm sure this will be viewed for years to come by people looking to invest in their land.
Very good vid. Love the lesson on permaculture. I could never have anything this big but I am thinking of starting small for homesteading. Love the water system. Using nature. Thanks so much.
This is so cool to see! I love your channel and grew up in Staunton, VA. The Boy Scout camp I went to every summer is right next to this farm!
Interesting and informative. Thank you, Josh and Mr. Salatin.
Stoney Ridge got me started but now i see Salatin on all the channels i watch. Salatin the Legend
Looks like Joel likes to raise the Cornish Cross. Pigs look happy not like the factory raised pigs, its amazing to see pigs wagging their tails.
2 Great Men.. Pleasure to be here...
Just Sucking it up...
Great Things GOD Teaches Us..
I'm in western Ny..Fort Niagara area. Going today to get 10 girls.. hopefully bared rocks..I have black sexlinks..

Thanks for the video. It's nice to see a video with a (kinda) different perspective and other parts of Joel's farm that we usually don't see 😊
Great Interview Josh!!! 2 of my favorite farmers together!!!
That was fascinating.. And good for him to pass along his extensive knowledge.
Joel is a national treasure.
Great video. Lots of good tips and learning. Really shows how the smaller farmer uses what it given to them by nature compared to the mega farmers that use their Dollars to produce.
Mike Bloomberg needs to spend a week as a hand on this farm.
Fred Carroll So true.
Joel would run Mike Bloomberg off the first day.
Haha he already knows how to farm... Remember... Put a seed in. Cover with soil. Add water and you have corn. He's got it figured out...
LOL !
I’d like to see him start a camp fire let alone d any farming.
Very awesome information.. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing this. The moment he said his farm was made to scale up or down I almost started to cry. Thank you again.
What a wonderful video with amazing people, thank you. I will be soon growing my own food too.
Great seeing and learning from both of you always from the part of the world where I am. @ Huge appreciation I always learn and get a ton of practical farming practices. @Joel that knowledge on keeping pigs like that is excellent....
Wow Josh! This was a really educational experience👌 gives me a lot of new ideas on how to develop my own homestead👍🏻
What a good man. So wise and happy to share his knowledge. Thank you for the video!
Very intelligent farmers, that is so awesome!!!Thank you for sharing your wisdom!!!
Great job Bud! Love the video. I like the longer ones like this, they can be really informative.
He has been contacted to be a delegate by every party you can think of! He's a smart guy so it's not hard to see why. What a great and inspiring place, I recommend visiting to anyone who can!
This was very good brother. Putting some of your principles and ideas in place. Thanks
Did he mention how many eggs he get a year Month etc
It's the quality of the chickens grazing area that really makes the difference. It's brilliant!
Me and my wife been there and loved it. We will be back
This was a great interview with Joel
Awesome information! Appreciate the recognition of the grand design, and how wonderful it is!
Hi SRF Family. Thanks Josh for the great interview with Mr. Salatin. He is definitely an inspiration to so many of us. I'd love to get into his two day seminar if we can ever fly out of South Korea again for vacation. Cheers and God Bless. ~Mike and Ester~
Thanks Josh Joel is an amazing source of Info... Looking at property just south of you and would love to implement some of these principles....
Wow, what a fantastic episode! First time watching, learned SO much (have many questions too) and hope to take advantage of Joel's offerings and to have a farm of my own eventually. Thank you again, Clayton (Austin, TX)
Great interview! Thank you!
I love how you're so willing to work with @JoelSalitan for the day on his farm while you're getting valuable knowledge and paying homage to those whose been doing this. #Keepupthegreatwork
