This is my reaction to 10 Things NOT To Do In Australia
In this video I react to Australian culture by reacting to things not to do in Australia if you travel to or move to Australia. This is also includes some Australian culture shocks.
Original Video - • 10 Things Not to Do in...
Oh no. The first one about don't speak politics... that was the New Zealand flag 😂. We do look similar but the Aussie flag has 5 stars and are white and the NZ flag has four which are red 😂
I'm pretty sure it was a joke, then again could have been a major insult XD
The footage used left hand drive cars, too!
It's so funny because he's putting things in that are wrong XD The flag in the beginning and the monkey walking across the for examples XD
As an Aussie, when I visited London, I was standing right at the Counter in a Coffee Shop about to Order, and some guy stepped in front of me and started to Order. I pulled him up on it, saying, “Hey mate, I was about to Order, wait your turn”, and he just looked at me shocked, not knowing what to say (I’m a solid guy and quite tall, and he was pretty short too). I proceeded to Order and the guy behind the Counter must’ve loved the exchange, cause he had a huge smile on his face and gave me my Order for free. The little guy then just sat at another Table occasionally looking at me just seething. Crazy business.
I do find people visiting other countries or new to Australia generally don't wait for passengers to alight from train before pushing ahead of others to board. They also take the designated disabled seats. I am a disabled senior, and they have no qualms about pushing into me or taking my seat. Locals know the unwritten rules.
It’s not like it used to be. I remember when I was in my school days if you were seen not standing for the disabled/pregnant/elderly you would soon find a piece of bamboo wrapped around your legs.

Didn’t know we had monkeys and moose as part of our wildlife lol.
Fellow political nerd here. You can talk about politics in Oz 😊 It really depends who you're with. Some ppl like discussing it and and some don't. Best to err on the side of caution until you know the other person a bit more. Just commonsense really.
I’m Australian & my Dad brought us up to not discuss politics or religion, however it doesn’t bother me if people do.
Yeah, I'm fine with that as long as they're not trying to push their beliefs down my throat. Good heavens, politics and religion can be laughed at as well, and important. I enjoy the dialogue. 😀🇦🇺👍
“Do not talk politics or religion” is a traditional etiquette rule.
Best thing a visitor interested in politics can do is ask questions rather than judge or lecture. Smoking can be painful as each state can have slightly different rules. Hard for visitors including other Aussies.
Our littering campaigns are based around versions of “don’t be a tosser” lol
Shame the footage often was not Australian - left hand drive cars, and animals of Canada, rather than Australia. Re queues, I have seen Americans try to cut lines and have been quickly told to get to the end of the line!
You probably won't see many monkeys or mooses on the road.
G'day mate. See if you can find the Opera House decorated in poppies. You WILL like.
Drive on the left he says, then shows a left-hand drive car 😅
Most of our safety laws are to prevent or minimalist injury. We try to have a health system based on prevention, not curing after it happens.
Public transport is absolutely fine in the capital cities and if you want a car you won't find many left hand drives.
We don’t discuss politics unless it’s important but it won’t be a long conversation. We also don’t allow politics to interfere with our relationships. Religion is much the same.
I think he's mistaking us for Americans about politics who are much more aggressive about their left and right views. But the question is, why would it be a topic of conversation for a tourist anyway? Lets just say I certainly wouldn't be offended if someone asked me about politics, not sure where he got his info from. By the way, you'll never see a moose or a monkey in the wild in Australia. This guy is clutching at straws with this video.
They’re just stock images/videos. You see that sometimes with these long videos. They run out of relevant footage so to flesh out the content they just fill it with clips that (loosely) fit the theme of the discussion.
I didn't know we had monkeys here. You can always learn something about your country you didn't know.
or Moose. We also don't have LH drives.
Any subject is on the table for me. The deeper the discussion the better.
“Do not talk politics or religion” is a traditional etiquette rule.
Moose are not native to Australia, and there are no known populations of moose in the country.
I must admit I’ve started to politely call people out for jumping the queue 😅 I don’t mind for myself so much but it does bother me when our elderly struggle with impatient people. It is usually a cultural thing & as soon as I speak up & say this lady or that gentleman was next, they’re quick to apologise & let it go, which is nice. As for the rest it’s pretty much commonsense really, be observant & all should be good ✌🏼
As an older person with a painful back, I thank you! 😊

Thanks Matt. People pushing their religious opinions annoy me, whether they're theists, or atheist. Driving? Seems like the youth of Canberra think that means spinning the wheels everywhere. Tyre dealers must love them. Buying tobacco now is a serious investment. Govt' taxes are strangling the industry, yet they're happy to keep it legal. Our 'Fresh food/kid friendly Supermarkets sell tobacco. It should be sold through their separate Liquor outlets. Thanks for the video. 🇦🇺👍
Melbourne is he biggest city in Australia, and in my opinion, the best. Since the turn of the century, Melbourne has had 50 degrees Celsius or about 126 degrees Fahrenheit.
This is a joke about temperatures, right?
@@brackenboy6321 it depends on the suburb. The CBD hasn’t had 50C, but mine definitely did a decade or so ago. I had to do a short walk, it was like being in an oven. The tempreture felt like it dropped not just 5C under the trees from shade, but also an additional 5C from the water evaporating off the tree. You could feel yourself walking into and out of an invisible mist of water around every large deciduous tree.
It is helpful if ppl walk on the left on footpaths and escalator it makes for a flow of ppl and stops weaving around them. Say please and thank you to ppl in service industry. Or just in general. I know some countries don’t do this Australians do. In places when being asked how are you a good response is good and yourself. No one wants the story of your life but it’s polite to response. Don’t be too full of your own importance because Aussies won’t be impressed and will (trust me on this) take the piss like you have never heard before.
number 11 don't listen to this cuz its full of (fill in at your own leisure)
UA-cam, you're banned in Australia 😂
Hey mate, how are ya? Politics, only depends on how people approach it, it don't bother me if a tourist has something to say about it even bad, as long as they don't start on me. Every ones right to have a say. A good one in this is the distance, as some friends from overseas and even friends here have often not done their homework on how far some places are, and l had to explain to a few people "Gonna need a better car & a shit load more supplies than that". Once your 500km inland from all beaches, your in outback, and don't believe so called temp records, it gets higher than some think aye, l have heard of 54-55 degrees C. Dangers galore in the outback for the un-prepared. 👍
I knew was going to be crap when they showed the NZ flag 🤦♀️
I feel that Australia is less cyclist-aware than the Netherlands, so perhaps that is why they are less stringent re helmets.
Kiwi flag, tells you all you need to know about this video?
If anyone started speaking polotics to me, no matter whether they were from Oz or elsewhere, then time to order an Uber. A definite no no.
Political conversation is had and it depends on who you’re with. You sound ppl out first before discussing political.
It's the same in any country
I would agree but I think in some countries it’s probably safer to discuss politics than others. Australians tend not to make to big a deal out of it but I think discussing politics in a country unless you are familiar with the political arena is best left out of social conversations unless the other persons instigates it. Least said soonest mended is my motto.
Seriously, New Zealand flag, left hand drive car and apparently we have moose and monkeys, where on earth is this? The clip needs a little editing.
Are you kidding, showing monkeys and mooses? 😢😢
Don’t fly the NZ flag in clip either
No monkeys in Australia
So he shows a Moose and a monkey? C'mon, be a little bit professional.
Don't talk politics, means not discussing the parties or politicians.... the topics of political discussion are open, so discussing the environment is good, not the environment minister, or opinions of political parties - unless the people you're with raise it first.
Driving on the left, wear a seatbelt - and phones cannot be touched whilst driving.
No Trump supporters lol but I think it depends on who you are with. I usually just discuss with like-minded. I think being a tourist anywhere means being respectful
For funny Australian Political Insults, there's this one - ua-cam.com/video/BgHyUodL5LI/v-deo.htmlsi=BfL6LCuH2WKwEUZ_
However, for one of the most powerful moments in recent political history in Australia - ua-cam.com/video/BgHyUodL5LI/v-deo.htmlsi=BfL6LCuH2WKwEUZ_
First off, NZ flag used at start... and wildlife on roads... WTF? moose & monkeys??? "Remember to drive on left side of road" - but then they show driver in left hand drive car, driving on right side of road???? No smoking sign not Australian.... Renting a car - not possible to rent a left-hand drive car here. 10 things not to do is a shocker video!
Number 11, dont shit in your wifes handbag!
I don't enjoy talking politics - or anything important that affects my life - with uninformed idiots. I can't imagine that is an Australian- specific thing, though.
We love talking politics!
that was a pretty boring Australian video. I am guessing it was written and directed by ChatGPT. I hate watching stock video its so dull. I'm guessing it is 100% AI generated voice included.
I do copywriting and could tell it was 100% ChatGPT from the phrases used.
Dont even mention the word politics here in Australia
You can talk about Politics here, but if anybody actually listens is a different story.
Number 3
Don’t show people driving on the right when doing a video about Australia.
Can't stand queue jumpers. Frowned upon. The old saying is don't discuss religion or politics. Can get heated with some. Lol
Number 1
Don’t use a shot of the New Zealand flag in a video talking about Australia. Duh.
I reckon that whole video was crap, from the obviously wrong stock footage. It's got to be a piss-take surely
Number 2
Don’t use shots of moose and monkeys when doing a video about Australia.
A Brit telling people what not to do in Australia with an incredibly badly put together video that includes the wrong flag and wild life... Yeah, nah, nah mate!
Don't discuss politics. What rubbish? Everywhere I go, people talk about politics all the time. I can't tell you how many people have said to me, what an idiot albo is!
This video is terrible. I'm only up to point 2 and point 1 showed a New Zealand flag, and point 2 showed moose (mooses? meece?) and monkeys as wildlife, and a driver on righthand side of the road? Switched off after that.
Not a good video to react to no Aussie images used except for the opera house..very generic, there are some good vids made by actual travellers that will be more informative, we talk politics of course but usually with friends
Most of this is common sense or a load of twaddle. Not well researched at all. Also we haven't many moose or monkeys running loose.
I usually really enjoy your videos, but couldn’t watch this one, all the way through. The flag was New Zealand’s, and the animals are not native to Australia. Didn’t bother watching after that. Not your fault, I know, but still really annoying. Cheers!
The only people who don’t like discussing politics are the snowflakes who get angry if you don’t agree with them or can’t admit when they’re proved wrong on something they’ve said. I can’t stand people who can’t admit when they’re wrong.
Is this a video for village idiots? 🤔
Please fix your screen RATIOS. The VIDEO being viewed should take at least up 60% of the screen. Please.
Video is meh... Politics is fine once you know a person. Many other errors too - NO moose or monkeys; Inflation is GLOBAL; Public transport is AWESOME in our cities.
Queue jumpers are very quickly put into line. (Pun intended.)
