- The 20mm Puma in War Thunder is an absolute plague. Well, at least it used to be. The Sd.Kfz.234/1 was added at the same time as the infamous Object 279 so it was overlooked at the time. If you were a new player when it was added... you had some serious problems!
The Sd.Kfz.234/1 is a German Light Tank that has the 140/1 turret that houses a 20mm KwK and a rare to see MG42 machine gun. It's basically an anti-air gun that can deal with anything around its low Battle Rating of 2.0!
It's also by far the fastest and most mobile tank at Rank 1 making it easily the best flank vehicle pound for pound at its battle rating.
I genuinely think this is one of the most OP Tanks in War Thunder.

Saving a lot of people a lot of time and frustration is admirable work indeed!
I love scout vehicles, especially on forested maps where the camo patterns are most effective and just park in the woods and scout everything heading toward a cap.
Once my team figures it out, they just wait and murder the scouted vehicles I feed 'em.
It's as much fun as actually getting kills.

@@redrum_bd1036Sweden grind is actually painful luckily the IKV 72 has everyone's backs it carried me to 3.3 I killed a few Kvs with it amazing tank and half the low tier tanks for Sweden have the same 37/57 cannon...

I remember when this thing had 64mm of pen, it was purely diabolical.
I'd routinely take it to BR3-4 it was great. Entire german SPAA got turned into crap, can't side pen most tanks now with 48mm 20mm. Especially russian stuff.

there is a reason why low tier aa like 20mm or even 50cal is so popular, 45mm pen auto cannon at 2.3 is absolutely insane, considering most canon at this br have similar pen and have 5 to 6 sec reload
They were even more popular back then when they had even more penetration + projectiles actively exploited 0mm own thickness to punch through any known holes in armor. Add most tanks having exposed turret ring that used to pass the ammo and not just eat it - and things got messy.
Wirblewind wasn't THE AA/tank hunter. It was a final boss of all tank hunters.
The sd.kfz 6/2 has a 37mm autocannon in 1.7

Hey Odd! I take it you noticed the nice buff they gave it about six months ago? Turret rotation speed was this thing's only issue, and it's gone now! It was about 12 degrees per second, now it's 30 or so with ace crew, absolute madness.
I think this was 1.7 when it came out. Not that 2.0 really makes much difference...
@@kharandros correct, it was indeed 1.7. I'm not sure that it doesn't make a difference, if German 20mm hadn't been nerfed from 64mm penetration @10m to about 40, then sure, but with the nerf? not sure.
Still love the way it drives though, a good challenge to drive fast and not overcook the steering, with it being eight-wheel at all times, it can be pretty difficult.

18:50 this bug is very common now. for some reason if a tank gets hit, it can just fly away with a small chance
Usually happens during ammo racks. they added a knockback to the tank if it gets ammoracks and survives but its a little overdramatic

It used to be much better when it had historic HVAP pen before Gaijude nerfed German SPAA to the ground. Now they have lowest pen SPAA, unhistorically. I used to love taking the 234/1 up to Br3-4 and it was amazing neck penning t34s lol.
It's not the top speed, it's the unbelievable acceleration that makes this thing so fun and OP. Fun fact: the M8 LAC has the same top speeed but it takes an eternity to get there and most of the times you can't even get there anyway. The M8 LAC is my fav vehicle in the game and this Puma is my dream vehicle, I'm gonna get it one day.
I just sold this puma for about 7 dollars... I'm pretty sure it's much more expensive now.

i got this puma during the soviet ufo event, along with the slick all-black camo you could earn for playing the space fight event. looks nice.
Well just a little PRO TIP...dont wait...after such videos the price increases...and the vehicles sells faster then we "win" new one of the events..so the price always get higher and higher..now 50...next year 70...then 120...and so on.
@@giovannifoulmouth7205 guess what ? I've bought the shitty QF 3.7 Ram with it, and activated that coupon. My God, I always get goosebumps when I see the current pricetags of those vehicles.
The hardest part of playing those is resisting holding down the mouse button and dumping mags when each round is as effective as the single shot 2lbers you mostly face.
Come now, that's offensive to autocannons at this tier. The English 2pdr is still in the tech tree at 3.3, and barely good at 2.0. That gun is truly atrocious.

This tank is one of the vehicles that i played the most in the game, every match is a slaughter
and german 2.0 is strong, especially with the he112A-0's 20mill being able to snipe tanks its brutal

I am SUPER on board with Odd having a "screwing around" lineup of fun/weird/bad vehicles in his line up for the off games he gets a'sploded right at the start!

But I do have the starter pack panzer 35T thing with the same gun and it's an absolute menace
Even more so than the puma because you can actually take a good few hits
The Panzer 35T doesn't have the same gun as any puma variant in the game

man, i had to go on a trip during that event that wasted about 2 days so i ended up only with the object 279. and i was soooo close to getting the puma too.....

I didn't know the reverse speed could go forward.
Now I regret not buying it when it was cheap. But back then I hated the 20mm and wasn't able to use the speed. It is much harder to play in AB^^

This thing was BR 1.3 and was absolutely insane, I was making 8-12 kills in average game.

this tumor puma was 1.3 at the beginning but did lack the high pen AP rounds. those were added later. it was still very potend. now with the relative new turret and gun speed increase its very evil.

@07:32 Not invisible, just silent, It might be just me, but every time I play against Puma's close up, they're like fully electric drive, totally silent.
Deceptively "tanky" as well, I used to make the mistake of shooting them in the hull between the wheels, with Russian 76mm APHE, or US 75mm APHE thinking hitting the driveline would trigger the fuse and some decent post pen would happen. I'd just get a yellow wheel or driveshaft as a result.

Best wheeled tank in game, ever. You can have Pz.II DAK, Pz.II C, Pz.II F, Sd.Kfz 140/1, Sd. Kfz. 234/1, Flakpanzer I, Flakpanzer II and glorious He 112 A-0 - all in one setup and ALL WITH FLACKs 20mm!

I call it the Flak Puma (i know its not Flak) because its a Decent AA car with its MG as the main gun for planes, and the 20mm is for tanks that get too close, and planes that fly head on

Yeah I remember when I got this from the event, it was indeed 1.7 and an absolute terror to the enemy team. The ONLY thing that could beat this was the B1(TER), t-50 and SU-122... I have easily racked up over 5k kills with this, as an AA works magic as well.

Top tier has much worse bias then low tier. However the kv1 could do to move up seeing as it’s running a 65% avg win-rate.

I genuinely use it. For AA, for AT and for some scouting if I can't pen something. Usually get popped real quick since the high mobility teases me towards a more aggressive play

They modernized this back in the1970's-80's. I think it was called the Lynx. And was actually amphibious. Because of two propellers. I couldn't find out to much information on it with a quick search. And I never really looked into it deeply...
Of course then they developed that little monster on treads with a 20 mm!

This thing is pretty good for uptiers but I much prefer the Pbil.
I feel like the 20mm puma is very good but i prefer the sdkfz 222 being about abit slower but more smaller and having the same cannon and turret

You forgot the sdkfz140/1, the panzer 38 with the same turret as both of the cars you used today.
Pretty much ruined with the nerfed unrealistic pen and the raise in BR. The extra armor won't help because you are a lot slower and heavier.
The quick turret won't safe you as none of your rounds will pen anything at 3.0 BR or at range.
