Thank you! I learned a lot and enjoyed every minute. I always asked myself, what correlation the names of the inks had to ten Haag. Finally somebody explained it to me. This video is a candy for all fountain pen and ink enthusiasts, and maybe a good treat for persuading the significant other to visit den Haag because of your wonderful pictures. Thank you for all the effort you put in this video.
Maria Weiß thanks for the compliments. It was tricky making it, since it ended up being a rather lengthy video. So it is good to hear you indicated that it wasn't too long :)
No! It worth every minute! (I could have listen to you for much more time....) Some good information need some time. Thank you! So much effort you put in it and I will clearly use it for persuading some person to visit den Haag! "Uups - there is the Passage. We have to enter. Will we just look? Just for some minutes?" I have to visit the Netherland nevertheless this year. Just because it´s so beautiful. Thank you for making a visit to den Haag a "no question". Yours, Maria
As a Dutch guy, and a Hagenees (inhabitant of The Hague), and a fountain pen writer, I loved this. Of course I knew all the meanings, but I just loved to watch this vid. I only discovered the Akkerman inks yesterday, but they will be my favorite inks for the rest of my life :) My first bottle will be............. I think...... Parkpop Purper or Bekakt Haags.
@Kees Kouwenberg : Thanks! In the purple range, my preference would be Simplisties Violet since it is a better shader and because of its darker tone has a better legibility (in a fine nib) than Parkpop Purper provides. Unless you want to pop on a page in a broad nib ofc. Brown inks... unsure.
@@gerardzonjee I ordered the Parkpop. I like the color, and well... I'm a Parkpop fan (for the same reason - being a fan - I have the Diamine November Rain). But... also a fan of Koot & Bie (Simplisties Verbond), and well, you can't have enough inks can you ;)
Thank you for such an interesting and informative presentation. Do you think Akkerman would ever think about designing an ink named after the band Golden Earring? How about a Verhoeven Soldier or Oranje? If the Netherlands were to win the FIFA World Cup, would Akkerman design a special ink as well?
Well, the Golden Earring is a band from The Hague, so I think if the 100-year-Akkerman ink line had a yellow/golden ink, I might have been an appropriate name for it :) And Soldier of Orange Erik Haelhoff Roelfzema was born in the Dutch Indies but lived in The Hague in the 1930's. I'm not sure about a World Championship Ink but if anything would arise after the Dutch Masters series, we just established there are enough The Hague themed names available :)
Just spent a painful 30 minutes trying to make an account on a store site in the Netherlands to get that Israel zeeblau ink and no matter what I did it wouldn’t let me change my country to U.S. from the default of Afghanistan! The search continues!
Annoying! Would it work with another browser? Is see that Vanness is currently out of stock of that color, and Anderson Pens does not mention it at all, so ordering locally is not an option :( A workaround would be to create an account at the Dutch shop, and mail info(at)vulpennen.nl to let them adjust the country information from your account, and then place the order with an existing account with correct country information.
As a Belgian i so wish Akkerman would have a collaboration with someone from BE to have local colours as well, e.g. smth like "Fields Of Flanders poppy red", or "Gekakt Brussel" 🤣
I wish you would make more videos
Thank you for mentioning that the inks are available in the US at Anderson Pens. I just ordered some.
