Am I at all interested in Taylor Swift outfits and accessories? No, not at all. But the V&A is an amazing institution precisely because they do stuff like this - current culture AND the previous several hundred years of culture. Whether or not they have a show like this, it's a must visit in London.
The design of having her pieces all over the museum forcing guests to explore parts they’ve never been to before is true genius. It would have been so easy to display these all in the exhibition space, but each piece shines much brighter when placed individually in a themed environment.
I don't dislike Taylor Swift, but her music is just not made for people like me. However, the Craftsman that make those intricate amazing outfits don't usually get to display their craft unless it's worn by artists like Taylor Swift and I find it really great that people are looking at their work even if it's only because of who wore it. And of course, anyone bringing joy to people in this world needs to be celebrated both Taylor and the crafts people making those outfits. We all certainly have enough people who make the world a more difficult, sadder place.❤
Sounds like an interesting exhibit!! Her costumes are usually quite detailed, her costume designers do an exquisite job. And for those hating on it, don't go! I am glad that you stand for diversity, which includes gender, race, culture, and even the ability for people to like different types of music!!
What a great exhibit, done throughout the museum! I wouldn't have particularly thought of going for a TS thing but it's so beautifully done I now would if I could!
I wondered if it was from the show "Spitting Image." They were all creepy. I think they were used for the "Land of Confusion" music video (I seem to recall that they sold off the puppets and the video producers bought them). Could be wrong on all of this... I am old lol.

I love the V & A! Especially when you see the loooooong queues to other museums. You can just pop in and spend a lot of time seeing stuff that are fascinating and surprising. You see an artefact from the grave of a pharao over there, and the next minute you're looking at silk stockings and how they are made. Great place! And the cost? I had to donate some money because it was free...
I am not all that familiar with Taylor Swift (at age 73 I am hardly her primary audience), but it looks a well managed exhibition. You had me stumped with V&A, I don't think anyone called it that 50 years ago.
_"You had me stumped with V&A, I don't think anyone called it that 50 years ago."_ Funnily enough, 50 years ago (1974) was exactly when the Crafts Advisory Committee opened its specialist retail outlet within the museum named "Craft Shop V & A"
The V&A is basically a museum of design. It was created back in the 19th century when people realised that British industry was falling behind its rivals on design quality, to inspire new generations of industrial designers as much as anything. It’s always been about the best design and craftsmanship, whether historic or modern.
I misread Trail for Trial, and wondered why they were holding trials at museums now. 😆. I have seen a few plays staged at the v&a , one I especially remember was held in the library that had a minstrels gallery. Also, weirdly ,some DJ sets a few years ago. It’s a nice museum to have a wander around in and view exhibits I wouldn’t normally even think twice about, but then find myself looking online for more information when I get home. Thanks for your videos by the way. 👍
It's very sad that people have preconceived notions about swifties. Personally I found that Taylor Swift fans have been the kindest and politest fanbase I've come across. There really isn't much filming going on during the concert, which has been something I've hated when going to live shows in recent years. I took my 2 kids to the eras tour and everone was so sweet to them and very protective. If anything swifties are like a bunch of sweet sisters hanging out and having a good time.
That’s pretty much how we felt when I took my teen the other day. Including the fact that we’ve been scores of times, but always come across something new.
Reading an article about how they spread out her pieces throughout the museum sounded So Cool. I really want to go, but it's definitely too far to make it.
I've wanted to see the V&A since I was a young child and read Noel Streatfeild's Ballet Shoes! Its so interesting the way they've displayed these costumes! (I'm American and can't just pop in ...)
That's interesting. I don't listen to Taylor Swift though I will say she's got good taste in fashion. Even if I think she sometimes gets a bit weird on fashion tastes at times. Nothing on Taylor Swift of course.
Nice thing about europe - the culture thinks it is a beneficial thing to give people off in the middle of the year so they can enjoy the weather. 🥰🥰 Course that was before the current trend of "Hottest year on record." 🙃
Very cool! They have some of my ever-so-great Grandfather’s (James Baynes) artwork in the archives. I’ve been to visit and handle them before. I love the idea that his work could be in the same space as hers. Especially since we also have pieces of his still passed on within the family. It would be a wonderfully obscure link to pop culture.
