… Yes, there are other bands and not just Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Black S. etc - there is also Deep Purple and they have been making damn good music since 1968 ... especially from 1969 to 1975 the best songs for me. 🎸🎹🥁🎤 Thank You
I brought my pencil. Give me something to write on, man. They recorded this when they weren't getting along, and weren't in the studio at the same time. And still put out great music. And I agree, this is an underrated album. Peace
The best band in the world takes a few days off lays down some great backing tracks then Ian Gillan came in and sang. Probably Roger Glover was there with Gillan just to work out lyrics. Something they pretty much did all along and still do. But to the song at hand, it's a great blues song because it's not a "girl left me" or "got no money" blues song; but a sci-fi novel inspired song about a life of standing in lines. Once I knew that information, I had more respect for this deep cut. Great solos at the end too.
I love that you're going off piste with Purple, checking out stuff that's not obvious. If you fancy another underrated album, also recorded when the band weren't getting on, try The House Of Blue Light, recorded 14 years later. Bad Attitude, The Spanish Archer, Strange Ways, Dead Or Alive, so many great songs on there.
You have sometimes reacted to Rainbow's song Mistreated when Dio was the vocalist, so now you could react to Deep Purple's original version, for example this Deep Purple - Mistreated "Live in California 1974" performance. Thanks in advance.
A much underrated Purple album, but an excellent one despite being conceived in unfavourable circumstances! (tensions between Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore, leading to the singer's resignation and departure five months after the release of Who Do We Think We Are).
Purple themselves hates, now maybe hated, this album. As already said they never were all five in the studio during this recording. Gillan did the vocals after the music was done. But later on they agreed that Woman From Tokyo was a great song, and Mary Long as they came to love. Rat Bat Blue was played live after Ritchie had quit. And then you have Smooth Dancer which is Gillan singing of the way he felt about Blackmore, and has never been played live. But they recorded this album before they went to Japan and made the best ( always ranked in the top three live albums ever ) live album ever Made In Japan. And Gillan had already written his resignation letter.
Before Made In Japan there were Italian sessions, where they recorded only two songs - Woman From Tokyo and Painted Horse, the second did not make it to the album and maybe it was this song that became the apple of discord between Blackmore and Gillan. The rest of the songs were recorded in Germany after Japan.
@@ninoorjonand for the record Gillan did not write his recognition letter until a month after this second session. In other words if black more had come to his senses this would have merely been another strong album from the current lineup.
I bet you have never seen or heard this amazing band and singer from London Skunk Anansie . She will blow your mind. I can recommend the song Weak . You will love it
Not a go to Deep Purple album or song for me. Ritchie Blackmore didn't think Ian Gillan was a very good blues singer, which is why he was looking to work with Phil Lynott and Paul Rodgers around this time. This just sounds like a band that had run out of ideas. For a better blues song by Ian Gillan try If You Believe Me by Gillan.
@@delorangeade Quite possibly! I've never been attracted by this bluesy number, which seems to go on forever (and live it was even longer). I don't know, on the whole Glory Road appeals to me a lot less than Gillan's debut album or Mr. Universe. On Glory Road I especially like ‘Unchain Your Brain’, ‘Sleeping on the Job’ and ‘Running, White Face, City Boy’ but not so much the other tracks.
Blackmore and Ian Paice considered forming a three piece band with Lynott, but after playing with Phil, they decided that as a bass player he just didn't have what they were looking for.
Hey guys,i have to commend you for covering this track. Its usually forgotten about this album but it's one of my favorites.👍
Quel phénomène ce Ritchie Blackmore 🎸👌👌👏👍🎸🎸🎸🎸

At last, Deep Purple, of the 70s.
Johon lord monstrueux clavier 👏👏👏👏
Stonking track and album, never understood why it’s not up there with the other classic DP albums. 🤷🏻♂️

It's funny, for my part I've always appreciated the spontaneity of "Place in Line" whereas "If You Believe Me" always seemed a bit forced!
