3 month wait to service my mower, so I bought the tools you recommended for a fraction of the price and followed your instructions and it worked a treat, starts first time and runs beautifully. thanks Mick!
Nice one, i have a works mower I'm going to have a look at as it starts then after a few minutes if not immediately coughs, spits then stops so hopefully just needs the carb cleaning.

Great Vdieo, I'm still having problems starting my honda hrx427, had the carb off twice and cleaned it but still no joy. Going to try a new plug next. if that doesnt work then i'll be ordering those thumb drills.
Hi Mick, I have a Honda Izzy approx 18 months old, it starts ok and at first it seemed to run fine but then it surges and starts to backfire. Any ideas please.?
No mate not at all, my lawns are very flat and I have not hit any large stones or paving etc. I stored it over winter with fuel in it, I use fuel stabiliser .
Hey mick just a question have you had any issues with the Auto chokes on these as I am currently repairing a mountfield HP42 with the ST120 engine. Have cleaned the Carburettor on it and it starts an runs lovely to start with then it progressively starts to run lumpy as if the choke is coming on. When you shut the engine off it starts leaking fuel from inlet and into and through the airfilter.
I would do the carb again.... It will run lumpy until the choke comes off.. maybe start it from cold with the air filter off so you can see when the choke comes off..
hi there mick could you help me ,have a Mountfield Universal SP42 Petrol Lawnmower .,and ive lost the carburettor idol speed pilot jet ,i tried internet endlessly ,where can i get one .june d

I've seen that some of those mowers have a blade system that has 4 short blades attached to a round piece of metal
I see that occasionally.
@@GuysPlayingWithTools they' are unique in there on Way to say the least

Have you hit anything like a brick or stump .

Could be fuel or autochoke problems.

he could've forgotten about the warranty
Must have
Sadly manufacturers don't class stale fuel as a warranty issue.
