GM used commonality of parts. I have often wondered, is there any real difference between a Pontiac 326 and a Chevrolet 327?

IMO- Pontiac was ahead of everybody from '58 through the early 80's. Particularly interesting to me are the "Canadian" Pontiac's, some of them are pretty rare these days.

My parents bought a new '60 Bonneville Vista in the same color exterior and interior as that convertible. I was a little boy in kindergarten and so loved that car, especially on long vacations. That trunk was unusually huge compared to the other GM cousins, especially the silly Buick rear end. The air conditioning, which was so necessary in that all-glass four-door hardtop, could conquer even our sweltering Texas summers. I have so many photos and memories of this car. My parents usually traded about every 3 years, but they loved this car so much that they only replaced it in 1966 with a gold four-door Bonneville--that was also great. The most beautiful dashboard this year of any of the GM's except possibly Cadillac. Thanks so much, Lou!

A childhood friend of mine had one of these. He showed up at my house in 1968, and that engine was tired, and smoking a lot. While idling there were no knocking or extra loud ticking sounds, so in my amateur opinion I thought valve stem seals had gone bad. We found the parts we needed at the second parts store we called, friend stayed overnight, and the next day in my driveway and with about sixty bucks of Craftsman tools we got him all fixed up. Changed the oil, did a tune up by cleaning the plugs, checking the timing and re-gapping the points, and he was off. No more smoke. I guessed right. Two years later he had the engine rebuilt, and a couple years after that he had the whole car restored. He still has it, properly licensed and insured.

Hi Lou Ivan J here haven’t written 2 u in quite a while first of all thats when you can tell you had a serious ride back then and America’s big 3 were at their best, finest and peak it’s a shame they have lost it’s edge but they are trying to make a comeback and also when they built real quality rides especially their luxury rides that they built for the open expressways, highways, roads, streets and passable bridges as I am writing to you right now I’m watching a classic episode of Mannix in the 1st opening part of the scene they showed a Sky Blue Color 1970 Plymouth Fury Convertible with Deluxe Wheel Covers and Wnitewall side tires man oh man what a 1 amazing ride 2 b towing a horse trailer 2 b parked in front of a horse stables. I love watching MeTV because they have all the classic tv shows from Perry Mason to Barnaby Jones because of the rides that were driven on the series & shows. Call me nostalgia but I love Antique, Classic, Vintage, Luxury Land Cruisers, Liners, Yachts f Muscle Cars. IvanJ.

We had a 1960 Parisienne Station Wagon in that metallic copper colour. It was a Canadian car. Parisienne was the top model in Canada. It was special ordered by a Pontiac dealer owner in Calgary. It was a gift to his wife, but she wanted power windows, so my father bought it as used car with very low mileage. My father was told it had been special ordered with a 409. I was only 8 years old at the time. All I can say is the valve covers were that same shape as the pictures of 409’s I see online. It only had a Powerglide 2 speed automatic, but we had no problem passing cars on the uphill passing lanes through the Rockies, while pulling a large holiday trailer. It would be a really rare car to own today.

We had a 1960 Parisienne station wagon in that Sierra Copper metallic colour. It was special ordered in Calgary by a dealer principle for his wife. She only drove it for the few months it took him to get one with power windows, the way she wanted.. Apparently, he had ordered what he wanted instead. My father bought it as a used car, but ir hardly had any miles on it. My father was told it had a special order 409 under the hood. It looked like the pictures of a 409 I have seen. Whatever it was, it was very rare and had huge torque. We used to pull big travel trailers on summer holidays through the mountain passes to BC like nothing. Took a lot of power to do that with a 2 speed automatic. My dad sold it to a neighbourhood friend in 1963, as he was being transferred to Ontario that summer. .

I remember seeing quite a few 1960 Pontiacs when I was a child, even though they had become used cars by the time I was born (I turned 58 years of age just over a month ago). And oh yes, I was really into cars, and have been ever since. As time passed, the older cars disappeared from the roads and eventually were crushed. I hated to see them go like that. But it's so good to see a car this 1960 Bonneville again, especially this one, and it's a survivor at that! Those "bubble-top" GM cars from the 1960 model year are real beauties today. All five GM makes - from Chevy to Cadillac - had it. Great car. Wonderful video. Oh Lou, you've done it again! _(7/2/2022)_

That was my first car. White with the triple blue interior. That was real wood on the dash and not plastic. That voltage regulator
will keep the voltage steady, especially in high revs, as to not damage the cars electric components. Old generators weren't always power friendly.

The reason why the 1961 Pontiac Bonneville had a bubble top is because Men and women of the day wore hat's, so the bubble top gave the people wareing hat gave them the extra clearance too ware a hat. I can always remember going to the Detroit auto show in Detroit with my dad and uncle, and my uncle when he saw a car that he liked he always gave it the hat check, if he could get in and out of the car with out knocking his hat off he would give thumbs up . And that is why he purchased the Pontiac Bonneville, sweet car.😁👍🇺🇸

A family in my neighborhood was friends with our family when I was a kid. They had a 60 just like this, same color. Our familys got together once and went on a Picnic near the beach. We took 2 cars, I rode with them in this car. At the time we had a 55' Rocket 88 Oldsmobile 2 door Hard top. Our Olds looked cooler than this Pontiac.
