@@diegogodet1889 it got blocked by the studio after months of being up unfortunately :/
More films need to be just balls crazy. Not all of them, but we do need more of them. If someone constantly only judges media by how realistic it is alone, they should go watch documentaries and leave us alone.
A good movie can be ruined by a bad ending... and that's what happened here
Jump scares, flickering lights and creepy shadows are not balls crazy at all. I wish they could come up with something fresh for once
@@HScreecHC They did.
@@orvilleredenpiller338 No argument whatsoever. Expected. They didn't.
@@HScreecHC I'm sorry but the killer being the other side of your head is fresh xD
Unapologetic camp horror is my favorite everything. James Wan said, "Let's really dial this shit up" and everyone was on board. This movie was entertaining af.
He really made a campy over the top horror movie to the extreme for us lovers of it and knocked it out of the park. Will forever love this movie. It's a love letter to camp and absolutely ridiculous horror movies!
@@bay5854 This! It makes me sad when people don't look beyond the simple to what the movie really is. "iT's So DRaMaTic." Yes, Ethel, that's the point! Melodrama can be fun when done right, and in a horror flick? Sign me up for more!
The "I'm adopted" scene is one of my favorites in recent horror. I think it's moment the movie really shows you what it's about and that it's not going to be your traditional Wan horror movie. It's so cheesy, over the top and soap opera-like, but also a perfect encapsulation of the vibe this movie is going for.
It's brilliant
A good movie can be ruined by a bad ending... and that's what happened here
@@SonOfMuta Incorrect, this movie's ending makes it a 10/10
@@SonOfMuta Nah. The ending was great.

NOT MALEFICENT CAITLIN 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m weeping!!!
Ok cuz I was like no way she thought it was maleficent 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤣
“He’s broadcasting his THOUGHTS!” “You’ve been a BAD, BAD, boy Gabriel!” Those lines made me laugh so much in the theater. I really didn’t expect Malignant to be so silly, which is why I initially disliked it. But I’ve come around to enjoying it!
"It's like he's DRINKING the ELECTRICITY!"
I watched this at home with my roommate and I Could Not stop repeating that every time something happened with the lights or the radio. This movie just has so many lines that are just too good.
Going in blind to this one is the biggest service you can do for this movie. Even the studio knew that to the point that somehow the trailer spoils NOTHING. This was such a wild ride I was grinning from ear to ear the entire time
James Wan told the studio " I made you billions with Aquaman. Now give me a budget, full creative control, and no questions"
And that's how this movie got made
fun fact: the only time Gabriel isn’t “real” is the shot of him climbing down the fire escape.
This is James Wan's take on a Giallo movie. Giallo is a horror/thriller genre that predates slasher films. They often feature a killer with a signature bladed weapon, black gloves, a long cloak with a collar or hood that obscures their face, and sequences from the killer's POV. They also are heavy on the melodrama, and are big on really dialed up color to give it a unique neon-soaked atmosphere. The movie's even better knowing all of that.
I love Giallo and Italian horror and had to get this on BR.
@@LTDdmgOMG tell me a film like this too
This movie was inspired by argento's trauma
@@TommyDay-kq1jjyou should watch every dario argento movie from 80's
THE moment I saw this rated 5 starts on ur letterboxd… had to watch it immediately cuz girls got good taste. AND U DIDNT LET US DOWNNNNN
Wait what's her letterboxd
Malignant is such an unserious movie and I love it for it. From them thinking just pushing Gabriel’s remains inside of her will work out, to the *wild* soundtrack, everything is just perfect.
The fact that we got Ray Chase as the voice of Gabriel is everything. The man is a voice acting legend.
Fyodor! ❤
When people bring up the word camp/campy, this is always what comes to my mind as the epitome of intentional camp and cheese. You can tell that everything in this movie was intentional from the set design, to the score, and even her damn WIG. Not to mention you get horror, thriller, action and soap in one film. There’s so much movie in this one movie ‼️
Suggestions:
1. Keep watching the SAW movies.
2. The Nightmare on Elm St. movies.
3. Silent Hill
4. Event Horizon
..I´m sure you know by now that the actress is the same from ANNABELLE.
YES ABSOLUTELY YEEEEEES
yes, Silent Hill!
HUGE agree on Silent Hill
Silent Hill!
Yeah. Annabelle from Annabelle Wallis
This is one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME James wan nailed it geez
when i say this is the perfect movie to go completely blind into… oh boy is it a journey
Well, if nothing else...this movie has probably the funniest twist reveal I've ever seen in a horror film.
This movie is, no bullshit, one of my favorite movies to watch, only because of the reveal; it's very original, the villain is always backwards and really gave me chills when I put it all together. It's goofy, ridiculous and totally cheesy, but damn it's so well written and smart, worth rewatching. 8/10, loved it
They took "it's all in my head" to a whole new level
The actor who played the mother in Annabelle is also playing Madison in malignant
I am not sure if you will see this but here it comes..the one that plays Gabriel is a woman who did all the backwards walking stunts herself...she has the ability to move her body in ways that most can't. James saw her in America has Talent and he came up to her after she was on it and asked her to be in this. She said the hardest part was that the costume was so heavy and she could barely see through the wig and the mask but she worked hard on remembering where everything was on the set and in the scene she kills the woman in the jail cell the stunt actresess helped her memorize every movement so that she wouldn't have to 'see' where she was going and just do it..they worked hard with her on it. The blond woman in the jail cell is a famous stunt woman and so she helped alot in that scene. I personally really liked this one despite most people not getting the idea or hating that it was campy so I am glad that you liked it as well. Grate reaction and i also didn't see the twist coming so you aren't the only one.
This is my fave movie from 2022, it's remind me 80's movie that I watch when I still small kids in 90's on VHS. I know it's using basket case parasitic brother idea and giulio genre as a template of this movie
the crack in the wall where the back of her head hit is the shape of a face
I know this is ‘She’s Scared’ but it should be ‘She’s Pretty’ cause you are stunning hunny
The medical records in the opening credits give away the twist
The chair throw in the police station fight is genuinely one of my favourite action scenes/moves in any film. Like I can’t explain it but it’s just perfect. And definitely recommend watching Dead Meat’s Kill Count for this one, goes into a fair bit of detail of how they filmed this.
the ending with her tearing her head open is so next level 😭 the deaths were so ridiculously aggressive
Day 572 of asking you to watch The Others 2001. My ultimate favourite horror ever. That’s all I will say, for now
I don't know about the others being horror, but is definitely spooky. A great flick to watch in the dark.

The effects, stunts, music, and a lot of the shots in this movie are so uniquely awesome! Not to mention how surprisingly gory this movie is❣️ it’s so unreal
I’m excited for more movies like this in the future! I also love your ghostface plushie so much! It’s too cute, I’m jealous,I need one so bad🤗
15:40 - I've been binge watching your videos ever since the first one was suggested to me. I love how sharp you are. You have the plot or characters figured out halfway through the film with a lot of the films you have watched. It's refreshing to see with movie review channels. Usually reaction/review creators are like "wtf is that?!" or "wtf is going on?!".
I burst out laughing at the "im adopted" scene when i saw it in the cinema
Aaaahh I knew you were gonna vibe with this!!! It’s so campy, I love how you were like OMG SCREAM OMG OUTLAST haha! So good! The concept of a parasitical twin??? I’m still blown away. James Wan just doing it again!!! 👏🏻 I love it.
This movie is an absolute masterpiece, it's campy, it's soap opera, it's scary, it's bonkers, it's hilarious and so, so beautifully shot and edited. James Wan is a master of campy horror, he needs to be given more free rein over projects so he can go ballistic and do whatever the hell he wants.
Many consider this movie was inspired, or even a lose remake of Basket Case, a 1982 American horror film you should definitely watch sometime in the future.
Wow. I didn't think about that. Weird trilogy though, but yeah I can see the resemblance.
Let's be real here. "When Evil Lurks" is one of the most disturbing movies to ever come out. It's very scary. Has great reaction potential AND has good reviews. I am surprised you haven't done this one already and am surprised to not see that many people recommend this for you. Makes Evil Dead 2013 look like Home Alone.
When evil lurks may be a little too graphic for her lol😅
@@MasonicMafia Yeah you may be right. As a huge horror fan, it was too graphic for me lol. I still think about that movie. One of the only movies that has really scared me.
@@rebeccalewis938 agreed. there are some scenes in that film that I’ll never forget for as long as I live
I still picture the scenes vividly in my mind as I write this comment lol.
I loved it though and I wish more movies pushed the boundaries like that
Amazing fact, Gabriel's scenes were shot with a real contortionist, using minimal effects.
A cool thing about this movie is that the insidr of the house is a set that was cut in pieces like a life size doll house. That way they could move the cameras in between walls and ceilings.
I think this movie is in pair with From Dusk Till Dawn, in that the tone of the film shift radically halfway from a slasher film to a supernatural killer one.
SBSFJBFSNF OMG YOU PUT MY COMMENT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO. i love malignant so much i had to recommend!!!! so happy you got around to watching it
James Wan made "Aquaman", which was a smash hit. So the Studio probably said "James, we'll finance your next film, do whatever."
And that's what he did. Love him.
Yeah, Warner Bros released both movies, so I imagine this was his "one for me" movie.
I just assumed he was cashing in on his Insidious/Conjuring good will but this makes so much more sense 😂
Watching you now from your earlier days gives me joy as a horror fan myself! Your insight has grown, you often call the twists, and now you even notice minute details in the scenes. You’re not as scared as you were before, you’re a full fledged horror fan!!
Edit: I love how everyone who’s ever watched this movie commented on the cliff park job 😅
A woman's parasitic twin brother brutally killing prison inmates? This movie is insane, great reaction!
I would love a the cabin in the woods reaction, it has an amazing plot twist as well.
We won’t get it. I recently saw an older reaction where she said she won’t release it because she hated the movie so much ☹️
Yeah, she's not a fan.
I love I’ve shown this to non horror fans and talked about it with my horror fan friends and it’s generally considered Not Good but sometimes everyone’s just wrong, this is a masterpiece. I’ve never disliked James Wan but this movie changed my mind about his taste, it’s impeccable.
This movie is all kinds of weird and freaky.....in all the best ways possible!! It deserves a sequel!
I dont think it needs a sequel
“That’s wind. -BOOM- THAT’S NOT.”
Finally! Some good Eating! Love this movie so much!

-J Horror
-Anime
- B Movie Schlock
- 80s Gore Horror
-Aussie Freakout Horror
-Modern Blumhouse Metaphor horror
-And So much more!
A lovely mishmash of all the things that Wan loves and what makes him so unique as a filmmaker!
Always a good thing when they try to do something new for the genre. this is one of those cases.
younger madison/ emily is played by mckenna grace she also plays the Warrens daughter in Annabelle come home she also plays the younger version of a whole bunch of characters in different shows and movies
ONE OF MY FAVORITE HORROR MOVIES EVER!!!!! i love the plot twist so much lol
I love how this movie went from confusing to everything making sense when I watched it for the time I was like OMFG and the fact that James wan made this movie with creepy interesting good music and have good camera angles too I perfectly understand how this movie went 10/10!
this movie is INSANE!!! And girl, you're such a mood, i reacted exactly the same when i found out that twist. just...ugh, amazing movie. so glad u loved it ♥
I love this film because on first viewing you don't realise how just complete batshit it is until the reveal, and it leans into the crazy instead of shying away from it. And then when you go back and watch it again, you realise that all the signs were there, they didn't pull a fast one or trick you, all the insane balls to the wall crazy was there right from the start.
@31 minute. My exact same reaction. No girl you are not stupid. Its not us being stupid tbh its James Wan's brilliance. He gave us a thriller with horror effects based on parasitic twins and teratoma cancer. Genius film maker. Takes a small plot makes story around it and shot it in most realistic and thrilling way.
If you want behind the scenes stuff, check out the Dead Meat episode focused on this movie, James goes through the behind the scenes in quite a bit of detail.
Such a good movie. I remember when it came out, James Wan made a statement online and said to not expect the conjuring 5, he wanted to make a strange movie it feels like you have pulled off a shelf at blockbuster in the 80s. Also, you mention Outlast a lot so I would recommend Grave Encounters, which has been described as an outlast movie
omg I have literally streamed all your videos 😭😭 thank goodness there's a new one ty Caitlin
i always call this movie BALEGDA in the voice of that little mix girl lol
This movie is such a litmus test for the viewing audience. If you didn’t get into the satirical tone of this movie after the first 10 minutes you’re gonna hate the next 90. I’m glad that this movie eventually found its audience because the mainstream audience wasn’t it.
i absolutely LOVE this movie cuz its batshit crazy and sm fun and we need more horror movies like it
this movie was so overly dramatic but still actually terrifying 😭
It’s such a goofy, gory movie. I love it
I’m so excited you picked my comment to put on your video, thank you so much!!! Love your vids❤️
It’s so fun watching the big reveals at the end with you!!
15:42 bro you ALMOST got it right😂
This movie is essentially a tribute to Italian horror movies. I know because it's over the top and nothing makes sense, jut like an Italian horror movie. Also the black gloves, neon lights and camera work are very reminiscent of Italian horror movies. Props to James Wan he's a true horror fan.
I love your reactions!!! Also could you watch either “Us” or “Get out”? I think that you’ll like them.
Same, I love her reactions
If you like this you will LOVE The Psychic (also known as Seven Notes in Black). It also has a strong musical motif just like this movie does
your videos always bring me so much joy and this one’s no different!!💖
IM SO HAPPY YOU WATCHED MALIGNANT! ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITE HORROR MOVIES
This is one of my comfort movies! Definitely not for everyone but I’m so glad you reacted to it and loved it.
If you want another bonkers James Wan movie, 2007's Dead Silence is campy fun.
I really loved this. Was very surprised about the negative reviews. The bit where her mom fell through the ceiling had my jaw on the floor.
You'd also love Grave Encounters which is about a ghost hunting reality TV show spending a night in an abandoned psychiatric hospital that get more than they bargained for. Underrated gem.
You should watch Don’t Breathe next! Other ones I recommend is Get Out, A Quiet Place franchise, and Us.
30:07 At the Gabriel reveal Caitlin literally did the "Viola Davies takes her purse and gets up meme" lol. Great movie and reaction!
Annabelle The Creation
This movie is underrated to the corr
The medium (thai movie), people need to watch and know that film. So freaking good.
Love how James Wan made Aquaman, got his blank check movie, and decided to make an unhinged Sorcerer’s Stone
I love your new little ghost face sm❤
I was so excited for you to get to this movie!!!! I knew you would love it! It’s like a collection of actors from the conjuring universe!
“What is that?! 😲😲 what is that?! 🤔🤔 what is that(! 😔😔”
when i first saw this movie i rented it to watch it at home, i turned off all the lights and watched with headphones so I could be fully immersed and then i realized what kind of movie it was and i was totally let down because i had a preconceived idea of what the movie would be like. Having watched you watch it made me realize that this is a great movie for what its trying to be, a cult classic, super campy body horror with hilarious twists and turns and great action and gore. Like now i can appreciate the beauty of it.
It's so crazy to me that all the stunts are completely real. Marina Mazepa did a great job!
This film had me GAGGED and it has only become of my favourite ones to watch every Halloween! So glad you liked it too
You should watch unfriended. It's kind of like host and I saw that you liked that movie.
YES!!!! Thank You for reacting to Malignant; one of my favorites!
You should watch Separation (2021)
Seriously it’s wild! Some scenes are silly, but it’s such a different take on horror films!
This movie was such an unexpected banger for me. It’s nuts start to finish and I love every minute of it
This film is why James couldn't direct the 3rd Conjuring film but it's like this movie was so good it doesn't even matter tbh. James Wan to me is this generations Wes Craven & John Carpenter.
Speaking of James Wan, Dead Silence is a must watch imo :)
Movie reccomendation: Summer of 84
For me, it reminded me of the black phone and similar vibes. SUPER underrated movie as well!
I love this movie. Its one of the very few movies in recent years that had such a compelling twist. I watch this movie and The Wretched frequently because you have to pay close attention or you'll miss certain clues that give away whats going on.
Okay but her temporary confusion aside I’ll wholeheartedly say that Disneys Maleficent actually SLAPS and the sequel does too 😭🙌 they get me in my feels EVERYTIME lmfao, I’ll admit my bias tho since sleeping Beaty was easily one of my top favorite animated Disney film as a small child. I love the twist on the character and story and the acting and special effects are just chefs kiss 👏
One of the best horror movies of the last decade. It's entertaining, incredibly original and surprising. It was such a blast to watch this in theatres
What last decade? This movie was released in 2022
I will entirely be the only soul on Mother earth to recommend this movie, but Dead Silence is WILD, and I love every inch of it. Also a JW film.
it's like a horror soap opera lol I immediately loved it too
This movie genre is giulio. Giulio was created by dario argento in 70's. The plot is always about woman got chased by murderer and there's detective who investigate her case. Later on in 80's, dario argento include supernatural stuff in giulio genre. James wan who grew up with 80's horror movie obviously watch it and he also admit he is fans of basket case which parasitic brother idea came from
If I'm not wrong dario argento did direct phenomena starring Jennifer connelly as her first debut movie. It's small budget movie though so it's focused more on plot over action
Everybody saw this plot twist coming James wan underrated masterpiece 🖤 👏👏👏
"Sydney, I'm adopted" is at 10:53
