      a yamaha wr450 is the most street reliable sm if you go PURE dirtbike on street. This was a while ago, my 250r got stolen and now i have a ktm duke 690 (love the 690 motor, couldn't find a supermoto version but i got the duke). Doing my second track day next saturday!!

    I say throw in a few speed bumps and a few jumps along with some trails and see how well the sportbikes do. That would be fun to watch.

    At around 1:31 says it all. supermotot's can keep up in (most) corners but on the straights forget it. There is no comparison thus why, there is such a thing as a supersport. Super sports will take moto's any day on the track whereas moto's will take sport's any day on their tracks. This of course is why we have both breed of bikes. If moto's were that good on the track Rossi and Marquez would be riding them. And of course, they're not just like nobody is riding them at the Isle of Man TT.

    so just fyi, when you get 80mph+ the "supermoto" aerodynamics are no good. The front finder starts wobbling all over and the bike becomes unstable..

I absolutely love my tl1000s, I love my drz400e and I laugh all day when I ride my 50cc 2-stroke scooter. My xr650r Honda Supermotard was an awesome monster machine but it also made me very naughty lol in the end it had to go lol.

    I've wrecked my Sportbike due to a FedEx truck pulling out in front of my right of way.. Thinking about purchasing a hypermotard instead of another sportbike. I'd use it on the daily throughout the city (Los Angeles), and weekend canyon runs.. the longest commute i do, perhaps once every month or so is about 90 miles..
    What's your guyses take? should I pull the trigger on the hypermotard? (after i heal up / insurance goes through) or will i miss the sportbike life too much?
    I hear the hypermotard is also way more comfortable for the passenger in comparison to a sportbike which is an upside..

    • @mtube620
      @mtube620 9 років тому +1

      Danny7930 more and more experienced riders want to switch to supermoto of less cc than their +600cc crotch rocket.. The problem is manufacturers are so out of touch with the market demand. Hardly any offering of dual-pupose / supermoto bike in the 350-600cc range. Husqvarna has the 2015 FS450 but it's 12000 USD before tax and other fees and not sold in north America. DRZ400sm is so f'kin old technology and heavy. There is a big void in the 350-600cc motard class and Japanese makers are so busy on making crotch rocket sport bike and pure dirt bikes.

      I keep up fairly well with 600's on my 450 until about 90mph and then they just leave me. Now if I slap a turbo on my 540 Yamaha, they are screwed!

    • @HenskiB

      CrazyDuck Turbo kits are like 5 grand... With that you could just buy a R1 and to be honest a dirt bike above 90mph gets a little sketchy.

    ive raced both and hands down there is not a single track ive been on where my motard is anywhere near as fast, its just not, 110kg 56hp, vs 140kg 160hp... even tight tracks its just slower. but a lot of fun on the streets for sure...

    • @Clegg7
      @Clegg7 6 років тому

      Drew John i don't what kind of supermoto races or championship you "raced", but you've never been to a proper supermoto track i guess, i.e. a go kart track with a dirt section and where a supersport or superbike couldn't even click 2nd gear.

    • @drewjohn6847
      @drewjohn6847 6 років тому

      lol, clutching at straws there knuckle head...lol, when was dirt ever mentioned ???, and a gokart track is hardly what you would call practical in any way, it does not represent any rd or track on the planet except for another tiny gokart track, 10yrs of racing motard has shown me that...., I'm only a b grade road racer but well suited to say without doubt, barring "tiny gokart tracks" the same rider on both motard and a proper race bike, the motard will always be slower, iff you think any different you are dumber than I first thought, I LOVE my motard but its just slow in comparison...peace out plebb7...I mean clegg7.....lol...

    • @Clegg7
      @Clegg7 6 років тому

      When was dirt ever mentioned? Unless you've been living a rock these past 20 years, you should be aware that supermoto is raced on small tracks (mostly gokart tracks) with a dirt section, not on bigger sportbike/sportcar racetracks. World championship, european, french, italian, german championships (those that matter) are raced mostly on gokart tracks. Whether you find this practical or not is irrelevant, that's the type of track these bikes are designed for. Of course a sportbike will outperform a supermoto on a bigger racetrack, just like a sportbike has no business on a supermoto track. I was just pointing out that each bike is fastest on its own ground and that your first statement is incorrect. Btw I often ride on the racetrack shown in this video with both sportbikes and supermotos, the best lap time on this track is 59.9 (david checa on a full SBK works R1), while the best supermoto laptimes are in the low 1.04s, which is not so far behind

    • @JinKazama92

      If were gonna talk about practicality.... Then ditch your sport bike. On a supermoto you can cover nearly every freakin terrain known to man so how can you say a sport bike is better on a practical road? lol. you should try adventure touring.

    Funny to look at all these rooks argue about what bikes faster. If you dont know, you are mental.
    Small short tracks like gocart tracks with tight corners, a sport bike wouldnt have a chance. Nothing corners like a supermoto.
    Sport bikes would beat a supermoto EVERYWHERE els.
    The reason the supermoto's are passing sportbikes on a full track is skill level

    • @user-fe5bi7ul4t
      @user-fe5bi7ul4t 2 роки тому

      I know my response is 3 years late but thanks so much for pointing out the obvious. I really thought that a supermoto could go faster than a supersport. Just delete this man 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ and no, supermoto can corner much faster obviously just not as good on the straight. Who tf builds a supermoto for the straights.

  • @KevKelly48

    Slow bike+fast rider= relatively quick lap times
    Fast bike+slow rider= relatively slow lap times
    In real life, on twisty mountain roads I wouldn't say that I'm very much faster on a super sport than I am on a dual sport. Both riding styles are incredibly fun and riding a dual sport can improve your abilities on a street bike and vice versa.

    • @qj877
      @qj877 8 років тому

      Supermoto are better on the street than dual sports. But yeah, I like the saying "it's better to ride a slow bike fast than ride a fast bike slow". Most supersport really have more power than most people can, or should, use on the street.

  • @joshua3113

    On a GP track sports bikes kill SM because when they are going 320+ kph down the straight the SM's are doing 180-200 and almost blowing up.
    On a tight track SM owns any bike.

    • @singleturbosupra7951

      Single cylinder engines have more low end torque and are much more lightweight. Of course their top speed isn't anywhere close to multi cylinders, but on lower speed corners they are equal or better

    • @singleturbosupra7951
      @singleturbosupra7951 9 років тому +1

      Well to be honest haven't ridden supermoto either (yet). Only bike I've ridden is NSR125 :l
      So I wasn't talking out of experience, only based my comment on what I've heard and read on internet.
      Anyways even if supermotos aren't as fast they definitely seem a lot more fun so I'm going to get one of those anyways

    • @CafeineCrewOfficial
      @CafeineCrewOfficial  9 років тому +29

      Doc Moiz Supermotos turn and brake better than superbikes, superbikes are better in top speed and fast curves, that's it, there is not one better than the other they are made for different purposes. On a supermoto track a superbike would never keep up, yet on a superbike track like this one supermotos are able to clock decent lap times despite being at a disadvantage.
      If you feel like you are having a tiny dick on a supermoto i doubt that riding a 4banger can change that...

    • @doc666rossi
      @doc666rossi 9 років тому

      CafeineCrewOfficial I am not saying supermotos are bad. They are obviously more fun to ride. The best part is going sideways. But challenging a superbike on its own domain is pushing it too far.

      You can't compare a 400-650cc bike to a 1000.
      And trust me on tight corners or on shitty pavement and definitely if there was any sign of dirt, the cbr would have a long day.
