  • No luck this time. I had to walk to work in the cold and I was 30 minutes late :). Luckily I got a ride back. I got a new cable and the car is running again. I think these cars always have weak starters but I'm not sure if they should be this slow.. It cranks real slow even on summer on any battery.
I still hope you find some interest in this video. At least should be fun to watch in the summer when it's been +25C for a month in a row :).

I know that the video is a year old, but ....
First (as I was told) when starting the car whether it is winter or summer, people are wrong when starting the engine as soon as the glow plug light goes out - what you should do is wait for the relay to ("click") turn the heaters off. I know this, because I have done the same mistake couple of times-started the car before the "click" and destroyed the heaters. This is due to a cold oil being poured onto the hot heaters, they expand and crack. Correct procedure in winter should be 2 cycles of heating and on the 3 cycle starting the car , I hope this little tip helps someone

you can put a hair drier under the hood of the car and let it go for 2 hours in the morning, u can use a programmable timer plug thing

I have the same car, always thought that I had a bad starter, it cranks really slow even in summer and on a new battery. Once the starter motor failed and I fitted a good one, but never solved the problem. I also noticed that when the engine is warm (on operating temps) it gets way slower to re-start up, very weird.

Its not weird, the compression is bigger when the engine is warm. So its harder to crank.

You need to try and put glow plugs in it.
