People don't even realize how hard it is to be a cornerback, i play wide receiver and i give theses defensive backs mad respect
+Justin Ashman it is hard thats why i dont really play it anymore im better at free safety
I feel you and respect that. It's very humbling to play DB. I remember the first time I matched up against a guy who was 6'8 and I'm 5'11....he wasn't thick, but very lean, quick, fast, and could catch. Bro when you're matched up against a guy like that inside the 20 where the field shrinks and then you realized that shit just got real and that the next play might escalate real quick lol. Richard Sherman to me, is a freakish athlete.
Tall receivers usually always win.
MrWalkwaySc2 for the most part, yes. But it's all about position with playing DB. That's why defenses have different packages with and without safety help. Football is broken down to a science/math ect.
Justin Ashman Ya I play wr and db and db is much harder
its hard as hell to be a DB
Not really... What you see here is wrong. No basic defending that's why they are getting smoked...plus those WRs are superhuman
+Riddick Barnes then again it's one on one....no Safety or Linebacker help. It's very hard to cover a guy who's quick, fast and tall....with no help what so ever. But then again if you the CB are very quick with your feet, hands and trust what you're looking at you'll be fine. Don't think to much, over analyze or try to over power the WR at the initial point and just read and react, you'll be fine. Being in position is key.
+Kevin Brown your so right
+Nizzy S CB is the hardest position to in my unbiased opinion.....outside of QB and MLB. You the CB have to understand route trees and alignments. If the WR lines up here what "might " he run...oh shit you got twins now, and a RB coming out the backfield.....you have to see it and know it....YOU CAN'T THINK JUST REACT! Oowee bro lol.
+Riddick Barnes it is actually. DB is the hardest spot on the field and im dead these WRs are superhuman
some of y'all don't understand how hard it is for a DB to cover a WR one on one. receivers have the advantage because they can break off a route. y'all calling these kids "sorry" and "ass" but yet a lot of these kids are probably going to college for football. stop hating so much and just enjoy the matchups
I agree
yes. same with me I play linebacker
Shit. DB is one of the toughest positions to play in football
When curry start playing wide out?
I'm sayin lmao
I thought I was the only one who thought Tre look like Curry 😂😂😂😂
+greatest599 He eating though....
7:07 his recovery speed is crazy!
i feel like a scout whenever i watch these vids i love em
I never saw the skill in beating a DB 1 on 1 when there is no one else on the field. I've always seen this as completely unfair for DBs lol even shitty receiver can break off the defender with all that space out there.
I don't think it's unfair at all the, DB's just need to stick to technique and really focus on the receiver to be quick enough to track his cuts. Another thing why I think these dbs get beat is because they let the receiver off to easy. They need to jam them or try to slow them down when playing up or close them IMO this is the biggest factor.
that the whole point it's a skill drill. If you can hold your own then you have adequate enough skills to play alone on a side with one receiver (displaying the technique of man-on-man defense) which happens often if a defense suspects a db might be weak or the wide receiver is good enough to still catch it
dang 5 years later...
AJ Brown, Freddie Swain (going up against his future teammate too), Amari Rodgers, Forristall, LeCounte, Saivion Smith, Brad Stewart, all making it big today
4:14 dk Metcalf in the league now
Same as aj brown
I seen D.K metcalf😳
gabriel adame and AJ Brown
Damn DK Metcalf was as big 3 years ago as now
Genetics
2:41. That move, doe.
Soccer move
Icy af
D.K and A.J great to see them in the league now
WHO’s here after Aj Brown Got drafted?
Game_Oliver what about dk. He’s in the vid
@@oj6996 ohhhhh
Game_Oliver 4:16
@@oj6996 yeah thats right i didnt spot him at all
Tre Nixon, kyle Davis, & tavares chase are legit ! but Tre Nixon explosiveness is unreal !
5:08 good effort from db
At 2:40 197 got great footwork
helll yeahh he crossed my eyes
Wait till he puts the pads on hell have no balance with that dumb backstep
Josh Henry he had 12 offers buy sophomore year and is going d1 to Georgia dumb ass
I'm a high school player and I am starting corner 1 and can confirm it is hard as hell to be a DB wide receivers have it easy I had 3 picks last year in 12 games and a good bit of Pass deflections but I also let up like hundreds of catches
Hundreds in 12 games?
Jake G 😂
Tre Nixon got wheels
So many of these corners are ballers
Bro if your a DB go to 2:52 that’s a great play
1) DB is the hardest position in football:
A) it requires the reaction times of a cat, the speed of a cheetah and a football IQ of 200, miss any of these and you'll get burned everytime against a competent receiver
B) who was the QB, because damn he was making some tough throws 👏
I'm a db and it's really not the hardest position because in actual football you only have to guard someone for about 5 seconds and there's plenty of help in the inside.
But in a 1 on 1 it's almost impossible to guard someone
@@takodafreeman5253 Yeah DB isn't THAT hard when it's in a real game because I play free safety I'm usually there to help out the DB
@@ayylmao4464 exactly. But in a 1v1 it's damn near impossible 😂
@@takodafreeman5253 Yeah, the other day in practice one of our linemen wanted to do a one on one against one of our DBs and he actually got the ball
@@ayylmao4464 lmao
Dang there goes A.J Brown and D.K Metcalf
2:09 Fight on, Imatorbhebhe✌️️
the best fucking route running ever seen by me.
DB, most difficult position in football.
197 tho is a monster
+Darius Ruckers look up his vertical
+Darius Ruckers best size and best route running. he was niceeee
BrWithFMJ hes at usc now
Landon Upton name?
BrWithFMJ josh imatorbhebhe
It’s not easy playing DB none of the dbs are “ass”
This drill is tough for DB's, the players I like on here by position:
DBs
- John Broussard, Isaiah Pryor - best dbs, Broussard is the top one. He has good form, is very competitive, and attacks the ball.
WR
- Tre Nixon, Ricci Nuckles - Route running, Nixon is the most polished receiver of the group.
- Kyle Davis, AJ Brown - Big guys that project well. Davis is very competitive and once he learns the nuances of route running, squaring up dibs, and positioning, he'll be ridiculous.
The best receiver here was Josh Imortehbebe.
Jonathan Brown I agree, this drill is(at least should) being used primarily to evaluate WRs. This is the second 1 on 1 video I've watched and I said the same thing in the last. This drill, while necessary, is unfair for DBs.
AJVersatility19 You're 100% right. I coached Wide Receivers at the college level for some years, and really you're trying to evaluate technique. It's assumed that you can beat a DB 1-on-1 without having to read coverage, have more than 5 seconds, and your QB having no pass rush.
The reason I picked the receivers I did, is because they show the best skills to translate well. I see that Julian Hicks believes Josh Imortehbebe was the best receiver. He was the best athlete at receiver, and will get picked up based upon his size. However, when you think of receivers that make it long term, they play a lot more like Tre Nixon. Imortehbebe is what we are conditioned to like, the truth is though, his route running needs a lot of work, and against good Defenses, he might win jump balls and all of that, but, he hasn't mastered the route tree. He's limited in what he can do as a receiver. That said, there's a lot you can do with him as an athlete.
I like guys that present more options. Tre Nixon is the only one that sets up his routes so nothing looks hard. I'd take him all day. Football is about timing, and trusting your receiver will be where he is supposed to be on time. Nixon will do that.
what
Aj brown poppin off this year for the titans
Alot of big names n dis vid... Congrats
Tre Nixon and Dillon Mitchell were pretty cold!
The best receivers come from the south.
No shit sherlock
Evan Monast Just stating the facts
That the entire population already knew making this post irrelevant
Evan Monast what?
Everybody already knows that. Whicg makes commenting about it irrelevant. And the best football players period come from the south, not just recievers
I broke my ankles laying in bed when 197 ran his routes. Tre Nixon also looks great.
This is at the Buford high school field I live 10 min away from there
Crazy seeing where these guys ended up
4:45 thats how you do it gs
Keep in mind the dbs are gonna have a free safety or strong safety on the deep pass and on shallow routes they will have linebackers help out. They aren't gonna be alone
These guys have incredible skills for their ages. Number 197 stands out.
This Tre Nixon guy got some fine ball skills y’all
Josh Immartortabe had a mad one handed back in high school
Best one so far
DaTorontoStar Nah, LA
Miami
The should make boundaries since the DB has no over the top help.
these were 10/10 for the most part
8:18 good coverage
West coast Football strong and mighty ... you got to throw it ~ no floatin gentlemen .
Don't get me wrong, being a Db is hard but these Atlanta DB's out here looking silly
509 is a solid route runner. No wasted motion
Dk metcalf always been a beast
Even the best DBs get burned. And everyone sees it. It is mentally tough position to play too. Need amnesia too. Now in my mid-forties... I still remember plays from when I was a teen.
Who’s here to see D.K. Metcalf (DeKaylin Metcalf)
crazy dillon mitchell went on to be a starter at oregon and is now NFL
Some of these Wide Receivers are doing way too much. Half of these routes wouldn't work in the real league.
1 on 1 offense have an advantage it's a big Field where you can cut and change the route if your locked up
5:31
really this is helpful
That guy in the back had me dying @4:40
Most definitely
4:16 Holy shit that's DK Metcalf!
197 on O and 559 on D...they are going to be great
Tre Nixon is that dude
so nice to see AJ Brown
Good group!! 💪💪
Aj brown almost rookie of the year for titans
Tre Nixon on fire boi
111 looks and runs his routes like deondre Hopkins.
it's quite tough for dbs.
but the player who has good skill allows only the limited area to receivers.
I’m 6’ 160 lbs sophomore in HS. I got good hands, should I continue to pursue DB? I can lock up majority of the kids in my school. 40 yard (unofficial)- 5 seconds
Aight Tennessee Titans AJ BROWN 0:10.
man i wish they had a memphis wr vs db 1 on 1 video...
DK Metcalf and AJ Brown, jeez who would’ve known they’d be star nfl targets
These Dbs don't suck. It's rare a db is bigger than a wideout. these wideouts are big af and fast.... You guard them,
I like the acting at 5:46 to signal as if he wanted the QB to throw the deep ball and then cut back in...too bad it didn't really do much to the DB.
Sum bout playing in the rain so fun
They should make 2 DBs
1 vs. 2
Is that AJ Brown who plays for the Titans ? 😅
Sick video!!
Can somebody please tell me what happened to Ricky knuckles? I’ve looked everywhere for him and I can’t find him
its always raining every time i've played on that field
197 is going to be running routes on Sundays
Just now realizing DK Metcalf, AJ Brown and Josh Imatorbhebhe was in this vid
damn some of these boys were good. a few footwork issues, a few holds, but overall that was some great db work. ppl who never played have no idea how shitty an example these drills are compared to real game. my coach called this blind cover. its a true test.
all them DB's was sorry asf lmaoo
Defensive back is the hardest position in football and this is unfair because the wide receivers have more space on the field in a real game the Defensive back would have help the safety or linebacker would make the wide receiver feel squished.
2:40 ah! Ah! 😲😂😂
most of these corners were looking at the face of the receiver that's another reason why they get there ankles broken you have to look at the hips... also get your heads around dang
Tre is so good
Does anyone know what one could do to get invited to this other than doin a damn well job on the field?
hi
You have to be ranked and scouted by more than 1 college
3812murda8 vet false i attended the nj regionals and am not ranked
No
I never played db before but alot of coach's always want meto play that spot but I just never know how to play db
Oh we got some ballers in Atlanta too now.
what's the point in a 1 on 1 to run a 5 yard comeback? you're not even close to the db so stopping and catching the ball way before they have a chance to intercept or tip the ball seems pointless
Who is the QB throwing these late passes like they don’t know the route
Jai Sand it’s because they don’t know the route.
I know playing DB is tough but damn lol.
Anyone else see DK and AJ brown
Yeah
Most of these players are in the NFL or playing college ball right now
la and miami's wideouts had more moves, this was just a bunch of foot races
See ya there
When people say "speed kills" they ain't lying there should also be a saying "height kills" too because I know guys who will catch anything thrown to them but it don't matter cause the don't run a 4.2 and aren't 6'5" whatever tho
don't understand how hard it is to be a DB
A single wrong move on man coverage, the WR will make you pay and you have to stay atleast 1ft away from him during the play to shut the play down
you step wrong for a moment, you better pray that the receiver drops the ball
The WR just has to perform the route. Dbs have to stay close and predict where they going
if I had these boys speed with my hands then damn! ... who knows how to get faster quick???
heey Donte Vaughn went to Whitehaven in Memphis
