    Synology have added support for both the POE and WiFi versions of this camera (selectable in their dropdown list of Reolink models) under Surveillance Station version 9.1.4-10998 - Device Pack 6.1.4-6240 👍

    Helpful review. The thumbnail mentions Google home support but this isn't discussed in the video. Is there a follow-up video on its way?

    A good general overview of the camera but I would like to have a bit more detail.
    If using this with the Reolink software on the phone is it possible to have the camera to save video on the NAS via a FTP or network Share?
    If yes, would this solve the issue you talked about regarding if you have both Reolink phone app and Surveilance Station setup at the same time that it stops recording on the Surveilance Station?
    Also a bit more investigation on your part about this stopping recording if both Surveilance Station and Reolink apps used would have made this video great - the normal use case where the camera is connected to (a) Surveilance Station and using the App on the phone to be able to talk with the visitor (when at home or away from home) is the setup I think most of the audience of this channel are interested in. Perhaps a part 2 ?
    How does the Reolink app work when you are away from home, will you get notifications? And will you get them without having to open ports in your firewall - how well does this feature work overall? Do you need a paid subscription for this?
    I also think that it would have been nice to know how high you mounted the camera (meter/centimeter), this to know if it can be placed in the same place as the old one or if it needs to be mounted higher or lower.
    Also when you are showing the GUI of the camera you did not show all the screens. My suggestion is that even if you do not talk about all the features on all the screens you briefly click and show them on video. That way we can pause if we are interested (for example in this video if you showes the storage setup it might have answered my question above).

    The Amcrest AD110 doorbell works with Surveillance Station as well. It looks like this Reolink is more advanced then the Amcrest doorbell.

      One of the things that I've hated about my Google Nest WiFi Doorbell ( Battery) is the lag between when the person at the door presses the button (if they even bother!) and when I get notified by it. How's the notification time using POE?

    • @ppk80
      @ppk80 Рік тому

      @@yannduranx While I haven't timed it, I've found to be pretty much instantaneous. Just note that at this time need to use the Reolink app for the doorbell two-way communication.
      I have doorbell recording to my Synology NAS, but its not (yet) compatible with all functionality...so need Reolink for notification when doorbell is pressed and 2-way voice communication.
      No cost for this, just mentioning it.

      Any camera which uses a wired ethernet connection has a big leg up on achieving lower latency than a WIFI operated one (and in particular one which is operating on a battery). I only just installed mine so I haven't tested it but I'd expect it to be a huge advantage over Nest doorbell camera (which I have at another location).

    I'm in the process of adding a surveillance system to my home. Been looking at Reolink and a Reolink NVR. The one negative about this Reolink doorbell that many mention is if your home already has a wired doorbell chime this Reolink will not work with it and you have to use their wireless plugin chime. Seems shortsighted for a doorbell replacement to not work with ones current wired chime. Is it a showstopper? Depends!!

    My doorbell camera was immediately detected as an ONVIF camera without any setup. I know that specifying the specific make/model can often bring additional benefits to picture quality in Surveillance Station but specifying a non-doorbell camera as a work-around pretty much ensures that doorbell-specific events will not make it through. Also I'd be interested in understanding what the distinction between a "person" event is versus a "visitor" as the "visitor" event is not a standard feature I've seen on other Reolink cameras.

    • @yankee-in-london
      @yankee-in-london Рік тому

      As an ONVIF camera I get motion events but it appears no "advanced" events. I have Home Assistant connected to the doorbell as well and I see that the "visitor event" is a person pressing the bell.

    • @WackoX1337
      @WackoX1337 9 місяців тому

      A ''person'' is when the doorbell detects someone on camera, a ''visitor'' is someone who rings the doorbell.
      Also, in my case the Reolink doorbell wasn't ready out of the box. I had to visit the administrative webpage of the doorbell (Reolink App doesnt allow this), and manually enable ONVIF and RTSP.

    @TheSnowwraith Рік тому +1

    As much as the idea of a wireless doorbell - or any wireless camera system - is appealing for its convenience of installation, the issue that comes to my mind is the reason for the installation. Primarily it's for security reasons, and yet a simple (and easily obtained) wifi jammer can essentially nullify these products. It's therefore good that this doorbell has a PoE option, which should stop that kind of countermeasure.

    • @mindshelfpro
      @mindshelfpro Рік тому +2

      This Reolink Wifi Video Door bell needs a 12v-24volt physical power connection but can be connected to ethernet for a jammer free resilient network connection also.

  • @impy1980
    @impy1980 Рік тому +3

    I wish it came with WiFi and POE rather than 2 models, I bought the E1 Outdoor camera, not POE, it's currently motion detection recording to my QNAP nas via WiFi, my router is literally 4 foot lower on the other side of the thick external wall, I get up to 10 seconds delay some days compared to an indoor camera further away. In hindsight I wish I'd have got one of those power/Ethernet splitters and POE'd it for lower latency.I will either do that or buy the new POE version of the E1 Outdoor. I'm saying this as a complete novice with IP cameras at the time, and I think many who bought the WiFi version will end up wishing they got the POE version. Reolink are aiming at the new and causal user market, so it would be helpful to give initially clueless people an option to switch attached modes.
    I've not experienced any "struggling" when having a Reolink feed open and the QNAP QVR desktop app open with my E1 Pro and E1 Outdoor cameras, maybe Synology end.
    I'm in a flat so the doorbell currently isn't for me, but if it was I'd be buying this over let's say Ring, especially after the Amazon locking out a customer from his devices over false claims by a delivery driver. My sister has a Ring and when the time comes I'll be recommending the Reolink doorbell as replacement.

    • @souk-tv
      @souk-tv Рік тому +2

      The mad thing is that the WIFI version actually has an ethernet which doesn't support POE. Given the fact that has ethernet it seems almost a crime that they didn't simply include POE on the wireless version.

    • @impy1980
      @impy1980 Рік тому +1

      @@souk-tv couldn't agree more, shortsighted of Reolink in my opinion, I'd happily pay an extra pound or two if that's what it took, but crazy that there's an ethernet port but no POE. You'd have thought they'd have learned from the E1 Outdoor, the biggest complaint from users was it didn't have POE and being outdoors it's much more difficult to get power to the camera via the DC plug. They obviously now recognise that since the announcement of the E1 Outdoor POE, but clearly that thought went out of the window quickly! It's a shame coz I genuinely think Reolink do a lot of things right.

    I'm not fond of the straight "cloud cams." I need to be able to have more control over my devices and how the recordings are saved and accessed. So I decided against the Ring. I just got the Wifi model off AMZN for less than 100 bucks. Its easy to set up and It seems to be the best bang for the buck. The desktop and mobile apps are decent, remote live view is free via Reolink servers and the cams UID (which can be disabled), it has optional onboard SD card storage and it uses standard network video streaming protocols.

      Yes, I record both an E1 Pro and E1 Outdoor in fluent mode (highest quality) without any issues on my TS-464. The E1 Outdoor camera wasn't listed in QNAPs drop-down menu when I bought the camera a year ago so connected with ONVIF option, connected fine and records, so even if the doorbell isn't listed just select ONVIF, but it will work.

      @@yankee-in-london I still don't understand. If the doorbell is "inside" its useless as the person using it is already inside thee building, beyond the door. Maybe the UK is different but here in Aust the doorbell is on the outside. The person comes to the outside of the door and rings it, the occupant comes to the inside of the door and answers it.
