One of the best tutorials on YT - - clear, direct, and no distracting music or effects. I was going to destroy my tablet once it stopped charging, but using this vid, 20 minutes, and an $8 part, it's back up and charging again. Thanks!
Me here in 2024 on the same tablet
I just completed replacing the charge port on mine. Followed these great instructions and I am back in business. Cheers!
This video help me get the life of my Note 10.1 2014 back. Thank you.

Successfully swapped my charging port by following this video! Thank you!!!
This video was very helpful, thank you.
Just followed your instructions and now have a working note 10.1, thanks! Bought the required part for just under £4 on ebay, so very cheap fix!
@Virga Tigra yes, thats sufficient - sorry for delayed reply!
Much appreciated. Was going to get rid of the tablet until I saw the awesome video 👌👌
This video saved me at work today, papa bless
My tablet wasn't charging more. I replaced the charging port using this video for guidance, and it is now charging. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
followed it to a tee and just saved myself ££ . Thanks!
That's great, glad it helped!
Helpful indeed. hope this channel grows. good work and thanks
Thanks man! It was super helpful, I saved a lot of money thanks to you!
bought charging flex cable from EBay and delivered to my Thailand address took a few weeks but installed perfectly and my 10.1 Note is charging perfectly
Could you please share "What is the part number?"
I'm subscribing right now..
Thanks for the concise instructions. This worked great for me.
You make it look so easy, many tks! Forgive my ignorance is there any way to tell if it's the battery or charging port that needs replacing pls?
Yes, though it depends on the initial issue. If it's just charging slow, you'd want to replace the battery. If it's not charging at all, it could be either, but 19/20 times it's the charge port itself. If you have an issue separate from these, let me know and I'll see if I can't help diagnose it. Best of luck!
JacksonTechRepairs appreciate yr response, many tks.
Very helpful, thanks
Is there a type C replacement option?
Thanks for the video, when I took off the back 2 pieces and the volume button came out. I'm not sure where the 2 pieces go. Can you help please ?
Thank you for the video :)
Thank for respond that a start I can go from there
Many thanks. One question. Why do you have to unplug the battery before replacement?
It's not a necessary step, but a safe one. With the battery plugged in, whether or not the device is on, there is a constant flow of electricity throughout the device. Bridging a connection (which can happen just from something as simple as removing screws) can short out either the battery itself, the entire device(rendering it unusable), or both. It's happened a few times to me while repairing devices, so I unplug any power source before beginning to repair a device.
thank you so much
very good
Where did you buy the charging port?
I had to purchase it on eBay, as most major parts sellers no longer carry this part
Can buy from EBay and Amazon
How much does it cost
where did u buy that usb port? i cant find it to buy
I broke the connector where the ribbon connects to it. The black flap and the white piece on the back came off along with some metal pins too. Do you have a product number to that connector? I've looked online and can't find one with the same number of pins.
Honestly, I would recommend sending it to a professional at this point, as replacing that connector requires detailed micro-soldering to be performed, which is something that I am even unable to do. I have some information on a few people you could send it to if that would help? Best of luck to you!
Hi I have changed while changing the clip got broken.. how to fix that black pin clip..@1:15. That clip broken.
So I just placed that cable on the pin. And put tape for temporary working . But do we able to fix that clip?
I do not have enough soldering experience to fix something like that, though there are a few places that may be able to help you out. Here are links to contact them:
iPad Rehab (They are the most likely to be able to fix this particular issue out of the three): mendonipadrehab.com/contact-us
STS Telecom: www.ststele.com/
Rossmann Repair Group: www.rossmanngroup.com/contact/
Hope this helps, and good luck!
I'm having trouble putting the lid back the charging end won't close right there's a small gap but it's charging fine now? If everythings fine why won't it close right?
Try removing the back and putting it back on, but thread the charge port through the hole in the back cover before clipping any of the other sides on. Essentially put the side with the charge port on before any of the others
where can I order the replacement charging part? How do I check to make sure I am ordering the right one?
You'll have to check the rev. number on the part itself before ordering to make sure you're ordering the correct one. You'll wanna make sure that when searching for the part you include the model # (SM-P605 for example) and the revision # (REV 0.8 for example). As long as those two things are exact, you should be good. Though, none of the places I usually order my parts from sell this anymore, so Ebay honestly may be your best shot. Good luck!
JacksonTechRepairs would you mind explaining a bit more about rev no? like where do i find this no?
The white text located on the top of the charge port flex at 1:02 will contain the rev number that you would need. It should be in relatively the same spot on your tablet as well
Can I ask If can battery affect slow charging with red x icon showing. I just got my tablet battery replaced and before it charges fine but since my battery capacity nearly already reached its limit after replacement the charging becomes slow w/ red x icon? I am not sure if its the battery is original since the techinician is the one who ordered battery and replace himself
It's likely not original, as they are nearly impossible to get directly from Samsung. If you're not using the OEM charging cable that came with the tablet, you'll want to get one, as that can be causing an issue. If you are using an OEM cable however, you might try taking your tablet back to the repair shop and having them warranty the battery.
My opening tool broke. Any advice on what to use?
A couple of credit card or guitar pick and a few plastic floss picks
My unit is having trouble charging. I'm not sure if it's the battery or the port. What's strange is that sometimes the battery will charge up but more often than not the charging will stop if I power off the device or restart it. And I usually have to switch out USB cables before it starts charging. Does this sound more like an issue with the port itself?
It does sound a little more like the port itself over the battery causing the issue. I would see if you can't get the charge port from a seller that allows returns, just in case you try the port and it isn't the cause of the issue
Thanks! I changed out the port and it seems to have resolved the charging issue... I'm still not sure about the battery though - I noticed that when I leave the tablet out unused and not charging, it seems to discharge somewhat quickly. I haven't tracked at what rate the battery depletes but it's at 76% currently and dropped from probably over 90% which it was at yesterday. And this is all while the tablet is sitting unused with the screen off.
For a tablet this old, that's actually a very good discharge rate. While it's possible that both the battery and charge port went out at relatively the same time, I don't really think replacing the battery would result in much improvement in your case.
Mine just making blue
Dammit, the butterfly clip broke!!
It's OK still you can fix it.. Just place it exactly across and fix with celotape over it and it's working fine for me
