When she said "1 tendril = 3 mini twists." I was like "no." EDIT: So, I bit the bullet and tried them. Y'all. It was pure bliss! My hair didn't tangle or knot, I was able to go on a road trip from one coast to another for almost two weeks and they were still nice and neat and moisturized! Yes, it takes anywhere from 4-8 hours to complete, but set aside a weekend and do it over the course of two days! Or if you're like me, do it all in one go and binge watch your fav tv show lol, highly recommend the style, and you get a bomb twist out in the end, so 2 in 1!
9 mini twist in each square inch! Thank you for giving numbers. I have watch lots of videos on how to do this technique, this is absolutely the best one I have seen! You make it look so easy. Now I definitely am going to try this method for the first time. Thanks for sharing! Your hair looks great!
I have watched so many tutorials my eyes were starting to get crossed, until I watch your video super easy step by step instructions.I am embracing my natural hair Whoo! it's a lot of work however, you made it so worth watching. Many thanks!
I know this sound crazy... but... I love the braid at the start of the video!! Im gonna so THAT!! So easy and hanging beautifully. Never thought of doing that!!
I just did my first semi mini twist. I never thought I would do one but with my 4c hair and winter time I thought I'd do it for a protective style. Next time I will use the braiding method which was a great idea. I won't do 9 twist for each braid but 3 for each braid. It still insures that for the most part your twist will be the same size. Thanks so much for the information. I can't wait until I do the next one. I'll let you know how it goes. Keep up the good work.
This is very inspirational ...thank you. My last relaxer was July 2012 and am using braids to transition, having lots of fun in between braids ...getting aquatinted with my natural hair and doing lots of listening to young persons like yourself who share unselfishly. Words cannot express my deep gratitude. Blessings on your journey.
thnxs so much! i was dreading having to do mini twists on my almost-bra-strap-length hair but you gave me a great tip on how to ease the process. thnxs again
Hello Courtney! I AM WAY LATE to this viewing party, my goodness! Great video/tutorial and technique! 2 thumbs up! I usually install my micro mini twists in 5 large sections, 2 in the front, 1 in the middle and 2 at the back! I too saw mini twists for the 1st time through Naptural85 and I was like "WOW, that is cool!" It's such a simple concept but I would have never thought to do it! I was about 9 months into my journey when I gathered up the courage to try them! I've been on my journey for 2.5 years and this a style I'll do 1-2 a year around the holidays and I keep them in for 4-6 weeks! Girl I love the hang time, it's the only time I get to see it since I don't use heat! Your mini twists are FABULOUS...and 1 tendril equals 3 twists, oh yeah you like em micro like me! I can't wait until my bangs are as long as yours, that will make my styles look so much better and fuller! I might sound crazy but I like to finish my twists all in one day! Thanks for sharing and take!
I have been wanting mini twists for the longest time now. Thank you sooo much for posting this method. Once I take my yarn braids out I'm going to try this method.
This is great! My plan is to wash and deep condition tonight and do mini twist starting tomorrow. I will definitely try this method! Love the idea of having the hair stretched and knowing about how much hair I have left to twist.
I'm so glad I found this video again. I saw it last year, but lost it. This time I will save it in my favorites so when my hair is long enough again I can try it. Thanks for sharing this method.
I am impressed of your patience to do this style! I have one tried mini twists (someone else did it on my hair), it took my sister, my neighbor, my mom and I 2 days to undo them! Even though I will never have the patience to do mini twists I will use this idea for making medium sized twists ( I normally make chunky twists). Thanks for sharing!
so happy i came up on your page. I just tried semi-minitwists for the first time, but they are not as small as the ones you did. I like the method you used. It makes it seem less hectic.
I tried your technique for "small twists". I only split each tendril into 2( I had 26 braids, 78tendrils and now have 156 twists, exactly. It was a breeze compared to my usual losing clips, missing tiny curls etc. Thanks!
Oh my goodness..Thank you Thank you. I am about 3/4 way done with installing mini twist and found your method ( I am going a little crazy at this point) Your a total lifesaver!!!! So using your method to finish and will be doing it next time. Be blessed. All is well.
You just made this so much easier for me! I've tried doing mini twists for so long, and yours is one of the few videos that makes it look doable. Thank you so much! The stretching part was the most difficult for me; I don't use heat, and I couldn't afford Curlformers or flexirods. And my hair is so curly that when I tried to remoisturise it after being stretched, it started clumping into curls and wouldn't stay twisted. You've given me hope again! Lol.
For those with comments about the take down being a pain, Naptural85 has a video on the take down which makes it look really easy. But thank you so much, Courtney, for the "braid out' method; it seems like it will make trying this so much easier!
Awesome! You are so very clear and concise. You have beautiful hair. I've been natural going on 5 years now and this is a style that I will try. THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you for this method. I have done mini twists in the past, but they used to take me all day. Today, I put mini twists in my 10 year old's head (in lieu or extensions) in about 3.5 hours. A FULL HEAD of mini twists on 14 inch hair in 3.5 hours. I am so happy. Now if only the take down could be so easy.
You are one brave chica!!! When I saw that you were going to create NINE twist from one braid all I could say was wow!! I will be doing this method for my August twist but I think I'll do three per braid, to save my sanity! thanks for the vid very helpful
I've got to echo everyone else here. This is a brilliant technique. I never gave mini twists serious consideration bc the installation looked so daunting. When I get more length I'll definitely try this method!
I've been wanting to do mini twists for a while now. I didn't know how to start nor do I have the patience to do it. I'm soooo gonna try this method since it won't drive me crazy!!
Great alternative for natural hair. I have mine done professionally as I don't have the patience, but I do like the style. Your hair looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
That was very helpful. I tried mini twists after watching Naptural85's video a few months ago, loved them but ended up only doing the front of my hair and never finishing the back because it took so long. Next time I try it I will definitely use this method. Thank you for sharing!
I really LOVE your one braid at a time idea!! I have incredibly thick hair but I LOVE LOVE LOVE mini twists! Now the task doesn't seem so intimidating! Thanks for sharing!
I love this idea. I have yarn braids in right now and I am wanting to do another protective style and I've done mini twists in the past. Before the time drove me crazy! Thanks!
Ok... with regards my comment below. I take it all back! My hair is dry and I've separated the plait and it makes complete sense to divide each section into another 3. It makes a good size twist! Thanks for sharing!!!
Wonderful job, will definitely try doing them this way next weekend when I start my protective styles challenge from Nov. 1 - Dec. 31. This was right on time, thank you and Be Blessed and I'll keep you posted on how it turns out!
Thanks so much for this! I too wanted to try mini twists when I first saw Naptural85 video, but knew I would struggle doing it. I will try your method as this definitely seems to be more manageable.
So I saw this and starting doing my mini twists on Monday! I was so excited. This is a great method, but I was a fool in thinking that I didn't have to detangle my hair fully or part it properly. I ended up having to undo other plaits from surrounding areas, just to get hair for my mini twists... So next time I'll certainly detangle properly first!
Thanks for this tip! I'm definitely using this method. It makes it seem like it's not going to take as long. I tried mini twists a couple of weeks ago and quit after doing the second row. LOL. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I was planning to do nap85s method, so I really appreciate your ideas. This will be my 1st time doing it. Here's hoping that all goes well.
Excellent video. This tutorial helped me so much in understanding how to properly do twists in the future. Even though my hair texture is different, I can still apply the methodology. The end result looked so nice and cute. Thank you so much for taking the time to upload this.
I think that is EXACTLY what I am going to do with my hair. It looks absolutley adorable and your method is greatly appreciated! I think i'll film myself doing them then post it as a video response, that is if I don't go crazy first! LOL LOL
i love your method i just unlovked my sons dreads and i have been looking for a way for him to wear his hair and this works out great for him thank you fdor posting this video
This is a really good idea. I like that you can adjust the size of the twists, like say you don't want them as small, just don't split the hair as much. Cool :)
Girl u rock! I been wanting to do mini twists but I tried one time and took the few I did do down because it was taking a long time. This method is so great! Thanks I'm going to try them again! P.s. yours came out so good!!
I absolutely LOVE THIS! I saw Naptural85's and thought "Easy, but a little hectic with the sectioning" so this is SO SO HELPFUL and very clever. Thank yoooooou! :D And p.s, you are gorgeous.
This video is the one I have been looking for. I can't seem to get it. Your method is awesome. Each twist can't help but be close to equal side and I can't possibly get tired and "go big" to finish and get different size braids. Do all the math you want u made it "click"! thanx!
AWESOME!. Now THAT is the true genius of UA-cam: People creating an idea and someone coming along and sayin," I have an easier way of doing this! Try it!"
I do the same thing but I do it with twists making each twist 4-8 depending on how small I want them and I'm so addicted to twisting my hair that it only takes me one day lol ....love it
I’m watching in 2023. It’s interesting to see where you started. This video popped up in my feed.
When she said "1 tendril = 3 mini twists." I was like "no."
EDIT:
So, I bit the bullet and tried them. Y'all. It was pure bliss! Miranda Black i did 1 tendril=1 mini twist. Perfect size for me lol not trying to get loc’d
Beautiful!
Miranda Black Was it difficult to take down ?
9 mini twist in each square inch! Thank you for giving numbers. I have watch lots of videos on how to do this technique, this is absolutely the best one I have seen! You make it look so easy. Now I definitely am going to try this method for the first time. Thanks for sharing! Your hair looks great!
I used this method for when I did my mini-twists it made things soooo muchh easier 👏🏽 👏🏽🏽👍 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
Those are SUPER mini! Lol. I applaud your patience.
Thanks for sharing...it's not confusing at all...it's just simple math; DIVISION and MULTIPLICATION...!!!.Lovely.
I just did my first semi mini twist. I never thought I would do one but with my 4c hair and winter time I thought I'd do it for a protective style. i like it but not sure about the take down.
Ok 3 things:
1. Loved this tutorial and will be trying these soon.
2. You are very pretty
3. Eyebrows on fleek

I have watched quite a few videos on mini twist and its safe to say that this is the best one on how to install them... Thanks

You and Naptural85 hv the best mini twist tutorials on the Tube that i've found. Peace*Love*Smiles

Thanks I been natural for over eight years and I love every minute of it.

With the combination of some samba, this video is so relaxing.
I've got to echo everyone else here. This is a brilliant technique. I never gave mini twists serious consideration bc the installation looked so daunting. When I get more length I'll definitely try this method!
Love it! It really does help to be able to see how much hair you have left and know you are getting close to the finish line.
Great method for doing mini twist outs! May have to try this : )
They turned out fabulous! Shout out to you and Naptural85 for my continuous summer look!
I've been wanting to do mini twists for a while now. I didn't know how to start nor do I have the patience to do it. I'm soooo gonna try this method since it won't drive me crazy!!
Utterly brilliant. No stress. Also, this is a lesson in fractals, i think.
Great alternative for natural hair. I have mine done professionally as I don't have the patience, but I do like the style. Your hair looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I am going to try this method tonight when I do my hair. It looks great!
Love this...I'm about to install some mini-twists, and I definitely needed an organized method to do so...thanks!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I was planning to do nap85s method, so I really appreciate your ideas. This will be my 1st time doing it. Here's hoping that all goes well.

I love mini twist, I want some for my vacation, but I don't have the patience to do them myself. Yours look great.
Girl u rock! I been wanting to do mini twists but I tried one time and took the few I did do down because it was taking a long time. This method is so great! Thanks I'm going to try them again! P.s. yours came out so good!!

Great method, I haven't tried mini twist yet since my hair is short with 75% shrinkage, but I may try it, great video!
Awesome! Maybe I'll give min-twists a try again using this method. What really drives me nuts though is taking them out!

Nice results and method.
I have to figure out how to do this without effort.
