- I love the "King For A Day..." album by Faith No More. Great songs, great production... and more than anything AWESOME bass tone and riffs by non-other than Billy Gould. I remember reading that most of the album was composed on bass and you can tell most songs revolve around it.
This is my first time doing a cover with my recently acquired Zon Sonus bass. That bass is a beast! For us bass geeks, this is a Sonus Classic 4. Ash body with custom-wound, made for ZON pickups by Seymour Duncan. The bass was made in November 2003.

First time I met Billy Gould out in San Francisco I told him "I have thousands of dollars worth of Zons at home, and it's your fault!".
He smiled and told me that Joe Zon lived only a couple of blocks away from the venue we were at.
I went on to tell him how King For A Day was one of the biggest influences on me as a bassist. Definitely one of the most criminally underappreciated albums of the 90's.

Great cover from a really underrated bass player : Billy Gould. Its Bass lines are always groovy, sometimes quite "simple" but always very powerful and efficient, with a phenomnal sound !

Billy Gould is a brilliant bassist, excellent tone and delivery.
Without him, FNM wouldn't be FNM!

Possibly my favorite song by them. Even though its one of their lesser known songs. They really killed it live when I saw them back in the 90's.

Great to see that you have a Zon Sonus in your quiver, it sounds terrific. I had two Zon's in the 1990's (Sonus 5 & Sonus Special 4). I wish I still had them. Awesome song you chose by FNM as well, cheers!

It starts with "YOU DID ONE THING WRONG" (in a little higher key like A)
When he says "YOU WOKE UP" the bass drops down a step (or a fret or two to E or D)
Then back up a step
Then he says "When the headache is gone" when he says (and it drops) "The Sun's Not"... the same thing.
Then it does a quick walk down and back up to A or whatever)
It's not open the whole time. It still sounds good though.
YOUR INTONATION IS GREAT... there's just a couple of notes that are getting away. Don't let them get away.

I love your tone, style and pedals. Can you cover "To live is to die" from Metallica? Originally there is no bass line in the song even though cliff wrote it. There is also a secret line in the middle of the song. I'm humming but sadly u can't hear it. I hope u know it. Can you also add it too?

Imagine what it must be like having Mike Bordin playing with you. Sitting at the set and looking right at each other working this song out.
I heard them doing just that in a South San Francisco practice facility one evening in the 90's. Our room was on the same floor, a few doors down, and they were LOUD AS F.

We opened for FNM back in their 2009 reunion when they played Guadalajara. Great bunch of guys and as you pointed out very solid and aggressive players. Best of the best. 👊🏻
