Mike Winger, my husband says he is a agnostic. We were talking about God and we always seem to come to a point of disagreement at the topic of free will. He believes that our "wills" are based on brain chemistry and our total sum of our experiences... though I don't completely disagree with him... I explain original sin. We both enter into the Garden of Eden in thought with Eve and the Serpent making their exchange with one another with the rest of the scene set, and I ask him who sinned? Adam, Eve, or the Serpent? My husbands response, "God's". "God made Adam and Eve''s brain/mind, He even made Satan's brain/mind. He knows the beginning from the end.... He determines their experiences and therefore determines there decisions, hence it is God's sin". I have notice that my husband takes great offense if someone assumes he has ever sinned in his life which is what made me think of the Israelites which of course is an example of humanity, but is why I bring this up on this video. What can I study to understand this thinking. I have more understanding of the thinking of a Muslim, a Moron or even a Jehovah Witness then I do my own husband. Do you have any advice?
God created the whole planet and gave them only 1 thing that they can't do, he had to give them that option or their was never really free will. Their choice was to follow God or not, he never tempted them, he never guided their attention to it, He said don't eat it or you'll die. Pray for his eyes to be opened sister
I realize this comment is old, but for addressing the point raised: when people say they don't believe we have free will, I watch closely to see if they ever express how behavior should be different. For example, you said he takes offense if anyone suggests he has sinned. I find it illogical for someone who genuinely disbelieves free will to ever take offense at someone's words or actions. If that person truly didn't have free will they had no choice in saying/doing the offensive thing. With no free will there can be no right or wrong, no justice, law becomes a vain formality and the concept of "should" or "ought" becomes meaningless. There would be no such thing as a mistake - because you could never have done otherwise.
I really think.... Lol. Seems like people don't think critically. If they did, our society would value learning more. How many adults take classes after HS and college?
Why would mearly trying to follow God's law ever be enough on its own. You wouldnt stand in front of a judge and say "your honor, I really tried to not rob that bank but I gave into my temptations and robbed it anyway" and expect to not be held accountable for the crime you committed.
Acording to Webster 1828 COVET, v.t. 1. To desire or wish for, with eagerness; to desire earnestly to obtain or possess; in a good sense. Covet earnestly the best gifts. 1 Corinthians 12. 2. To desire inordinately; to desire that which it is unlawful to obtain or possess; in a bad sense. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors house, wife or servant. Exodus 20. COVET, v.i. To have an earnest desire. 1 Timothy 6.
Text, not teacher. Have you questioned the scripture and authenticity of text? Any videos I should watch? I agree that salvation is grace based. I don't understand your works denial. Your argument is not unreasonable. But why are there so many works and deed references? Often fruits references. Rest in Jesus is not 100% without works. Isn't that how Jesus explains it? The yoke still requires a burden. A light burden but if Jesus is doing the heavy lifting, an expectation of burden is still there. If that is not tied to works or deeds, what do you see as that burden? How often does Jesus say, go, sin no more? That seems very related and takes the concept of grace further than just grace. I'm interest in how those idea are rationalized.
@@dldenton3982 Obedience is the work, I can't oppose that. I assume that changing and altering how you live your life to align yourself with Jesus, with his teaching, is a form of obedience that is pleasing to God. As it says, faith without works is dead.
@@johnnyjohnson1370 Huh? /All works are a result of salvation./ The rest of your comments are accurate. Salvation is not deserved, it is not a merit based achievement. I'm not sure that percentage is relevant to salvation. Salvation just is because Jesus made it possible. Salvation is given freely, yet salvation is conditional. The question of conditions of salvation aren't imposed by Jesus, they are self imposed by the individual. The condition of salvation is more about if the gift is received or rejected. And it isn't a one time offer. That part /All works are a result of salvation./ doesn't seem coherent. Not all works are good. If /All works are a result of salvation./ bad works are a result of salvation. That doesn't seem a solid statement. I suppose I believe salvation is a result of works. Work is part of you accepting the gift of salvation. Maybe obedience is a better word for works. I find it amusing how people get tricked by invoking the importance of good works in salvation. Is belief enough? Legion believed and accepted Jesus as the son of God, is Legion saved? The devil believes in Jesus. He knows what and who Jesus is, does that save the Devil? The difference between belief and faith is works. Knowing that smoking is bad, no one disbelieves, we accept it as truth, as reality. Faith is doing something, often based on your belief, taking action (works) without a guarantee of the result. Like not smoking or stop smoking. That is faith. Works is how faith is different than belief. In my mind, there is too much textual evidence of this to ignore the concept. Fruits, works, deeds, yoke. Does Legion have faith in Jesus? Does the devil have faith in Jesus? That seems a rejection of salvation.
For the audience: Jesus said: "It is finished." Finished once and for all b/c we can never be perfect. Keep it simple. Judas Iscariot. Too profound. Left to God. The Jewish people. All Israel is saved. Israel is temporarily blinded; that is the scope of Romans. The Jewish people have a distinct ladder. See the word "chosen" is translated to "burden". The Jewish people have the burden of carrying forth the gospel. What it means to be human. They unknowingly do this everyday. The dilemma at the time too goes like this, had Christ not come for the Gentiles, then what would have been of the Gentiles.
Holy Lord, man! Romans 2 is NOT written to non-church people. I know you *want* it to be written to the unsaved but it's totally not. He is NOT teaching a "How to debate a lost person" class. He's talking to church people about their salvation. Quit removing his doctrine from that context.
The sacred secret of the judgement for Christians is hidden in Mathew 7: 21 the bit that sais just as you have judged you will be judged do you not keep judging JW's when Jesus was called such in the bible? Have you not adopted the pagan Trinity just as the apostate Popes did at the council of Nicea? Matthew 23:8-12 But you, do not you be called Rabbi, for one is your Teacher, and all of you are brothers. Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly One. Neither be called leaders, for your Leader is one, the Christ. But the greatest one among you must be your minister. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Zechariah 14:9 In that day Jehovah will be one, and his name one. John 14:20, 21 In that day you will know that I am in union with my Father and you are in union with me and I am in union with you. Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. In turn, whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will clearly show myself to him.” Even though Jesus always says that his Father is greater than he are you not still deaf to what he is saying?
Scientism (a religion that sounds like it's scientific) still teaches that life springs from non-life. Listen to any popular program on space exploration. Listen to the pseudo-scientists who talk about "the building blocks of life". Did you discover water on Titan? Well, water is one of the building blocks of life, therefore, there might be life on Titan. That is the current state of the spontaneous life generation "art" (myth).
Prager is great. Judaism has such a larger tradition in works, not beleif that I can understand why he'd try to push toward works as a justification. Saying they are earning heaven, seems dishonest. True that they work based, maybe I need to reread the ot looking for grace teachings.
Paul's not talking to Jews, he's talking to church people who happen to be Jews. Rome's CHRISTIAN church was as Judaized as much as every other church in the first century. Never think for a moment that Paul is addressing his teaching to people outside the church - to garden variety Jews or Gentiles. He's talking to church folk.
Not true at all. You say that but you have no evidence. How can you say that when Jesus is the door, no one enters heaven but through him. Jews deny Christ, therefore are damned. You are false.
@@AR15andGOD - Let me get this clear. Are you saying that if a person believes in living by the Mosaic Law that he cannot be a member of the church? Rom. 1:7 - To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. It looks to me like he is addressing the saints (the holy ones, the called out). He is not addressing his comments to the garden variety Jew. In fact, what ordinary Jew would even hear his epistle? I think it's pretty clear that Paul is taking to baptized believers in the risen Lord. Romans 6 is specifically addressed to those who were baptized into Christ. I've heard the teaching that Romans 2 was telling how a person could be saved apart from Jesus. They taught that exact message at a church of Christ I was a part of in the early 2000s. I was taken aback because I'd never heard such a thing before. "You can be save as long as you follow the rules of your religion." That was the preachers exact message. That's completely messed up.
@@AR15andGOD - Furthermore, if you're referring to Romans 1:16-17, "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ..." Just keep reading. Paul's talking about the gospel of justification by faith. He goes into detail on it in subsequent chapters. This is the same "gospel" he wanted to teach to the church in Jerusalem (but they wouldn't have any of it). Acts 20-22-24 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. Did you catch that? He's going to Jerusalem to teach the CHURCH the gospel he had received from Jesus. He wasn't going to talk to Jews in the wild, he was going to the church. And sure enough, when he gets to Jerusalem, who does he visit? James, the brother of Jesus. James and the elders tell Paul that the CHURCH was zealous of the Law and instead of asking them, "How did you let that happen?", he fell into their trap and then spent the final years of his ministry in prison. The gospel of salvation by grace through faith is NOT something that the original church was teaching that much. It was there but no one had caught it until Paul. Paul was to Christianity as Einstein was to physics. He saw something nobody else had seen heretofore. Read Romans with that floating around in your head and I promise you that it will transform your life. Justification by faith is a huge departure from that old time religion.
A perfect example for the 14:00 minute mark, is heliocentrism. Literally, its the best example in history. Heliocentrism is just modern sun worship. For real. Its common sense, its in the Bible, and its the historical tradition of the Jews . Heliocentrism is idolatry.
The G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was very clear of our ability to achieve his commandments. **Deuteronomy 30:11-15 "For this commandment which I command you this day, is not concealed from you, nor is it far away. 12: It is not in heaven, that you should say, "Who will go up to heaven for us and fetch it for us, to tell [it] to us, so that we can fulfill it?" 13: Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, "Who will cross to the other side of the sea for us and fetch it for us, to tell [it] to us, so that we can fulfill it?" 14: Rather,[this] thing is very close to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can fulfill it." **Psalm 119 is an entire love anthem about G-ds commandments. I don't know where the thought of ALL or Nothing (as you present at around 35 minutes in) has come into play considering that there are commandments that are for men and not women and vice versa. Therefore, I can't fulfill all the commandments by the very nature that I'm not a man. Women don't get circumcised, so now what??? Learn the commandments, before you are so quickly to dismiss them. G-d is my creator and he gave me all the tools for GOOD and by doing these commandments I get the see the ripple effects right now, not just in the world to come. Sin in Hebrew translates to "Missing the mark." G-d is in control of Satan as we learn in the book of Job. How do we achieve the mark? By following G-d's commandments. Will he test us? Of course and he himself says this. If we weren't presented with an adversary than how would we grow as people? You don't gain muscles by just believing they will magically appear one day. No matter how much I pray to G-d for muscles, they won't magically appear by Grace alone. I have to physically take the steps he laid out to make them grow. I invite those searching for the G-d of Israel to check out Rabbi Tovia Singer.
There is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. You break the Laws of Moses daily and heap up sin, but there is no blood sacrifice to atone for you, no priesthood to intercede for you, no ark of the covenant and mercy seat to sprinkle the atoning blood on, and no temple to house the ark. Judaism is a shell of its former self, repentance and fasting on Yom Kippur isn't sufficient. A generation after Jesus died as "the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world" and rose from the grave, the former way of dealing with sin was done away with in the destruction of the Temple in AD70 because a New Covenant has been instituted and the Old is now obsolete. Be reconciled to God thru Jesus the Messiah.
I think it's ironic that just because this guy has a "knowledge " of the Bible or so he thinks that just because he has read it and studied it that he has the moral authority to preach the " truth" according to his interpretation of the Bible. I would like to know first off which of the over 75 different versions of the Bible does he get his knowledge from. Because it's easy to make claims against other religions or cults as he calls them the one's that don't share his philosophy of the word of God. Before he goes and shares his limited views on the " word of God " does he consider other sources of doctrine from other points of view and then objectivly consider the truths found in them. What makes this guy and expert on anything in order for him to have the authority to say what he teaches is truth. I could prove him wrong and every Christian denomination wrong just by using the Bible KJV version but what would that accomplish. Why not just let people believe what they chose to believe and you live your life the way you want to and not by this guys philosophy. Who's to say that what he's teaching you is true when he claims others aren't. Find out for yourself read study then pray and ask God for the answers he won't ever decieve you.

Show him inspiringphilosophy's video on whether the brain is the source of consciousness. It's pretty enlightening.
Obedience is the “work”..... seems like that is what Jesus says... those who believe and obey.
@@dldenton3982 Obedience is the work, I can't oppose that. I assume that changing and altering how you live your life to align yourself with Jesus, with his teaching, is a form of obedience that is pleasing to God. As it says, faith without works is dead.
@@chriscockrell9495 I certainly agree:)
Salvation is 100 percent grace NOT OF WORKS So no one can boast That’s Bible. All works are a result of Salvation. Not the reverse
@@johnnyjohnson1370 Huh? /All works are a result of salvation./
The rest of your comments are accurate.
I love Mike Winger, but this didn’t age well when applying this knowledge to the jab! 😬
Matthew 23:8-12
But you, do not you be called Rabbi, for one is your Teacher, and all of you are brothers. Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly One. Neither be called leaders, for your Leader is one, the Christ. But the greatest one among you must be your minister. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Zechariah 14:9
In that day Jehovah will be one, and his name one.
John 14:20, 21
In that day you will know that I am in union with my Father and you are in union with me and I am in union with you. Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. In turn, whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will clearly show myself to him.”
Even though Jesus always says that his Father is greater than he are you not still deaf to what he is saying?
Scientism (a religion that sounds like it's scientific) still teaches that life springs from non-life. Listen to any popular program on space exploration. Listen to the pseudo-scientists who talk about "the building blocks of life". Did you discover water on Titan? Well, water is one of the building blocks of life, therefore, there might be life on Titan. That is the current state of the spontaneous life generation "art" (myth).
Hey
Also you prove yourself wrong by saying he was talking to the church, because the church already accepts Christ yet the subject of his talking did not
@@AR15andGOD - Let me get this clear.
Acts 20-22-24 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
Jesus is God. Everyone who refuses to bow will burn to death and be permanently erased.
Mike you should grow the beard again
Judges....the YoYo….book...
I like this guy but he is clueless when he says that the "Law" was not for non-Jews....his paradigm is wrong.
It wasn't
Your comment is ironic because he said to read the bible for yourself, not to just blindly follow any teacher so...
