    Loved this video, a great watch as always. I have a question on the Calving Pen… that was a fierce wind blowing directly into the pen, which probably unsettled the heifer and chilled the calf, would you ever be tempted to replace the bar gate with a solid one in order to break the gusts blowing in?

  • @georgiaannbicknell6129
    @georgiaannbicknell6129 3 роки тому

    Amazing! I had to turn my collar up after hearing that wind. You're amazing, Adrian. We are learning about KISS-"keep it simple stupid, " today. I am so glad you got the new post driver. Keeping fence tight is so important when you put it up. Loose fence is an accident waiting to happen. Barbed wire cuts are brutal. Having it stretched out without having to move your quad to change your tension on the fence will save you a lot of time. Little Nicole is a gem! She is a quick thinker. Good work, Nicole.

    As a vet I have got a lot of false alarm call outs because of moo calls. They have been out by as much as 6 days. A lot of farmers become over reliant on them and don't look or handle their cows.

    • @IFarmWeFarm
      @IFarmWeFarm  3 роки тому

      Can i ask seeing you said you are a vet, why are you getting calls outs because of the MooCall?? The MooCall on for 6 days!! the battery wouldn't last that length. also its there to tell you when your cow is calving so the farmer and tend to the animal, you would only call the vet out if you were having trouble.

    • @AgriSpec4370
      @AgriSpec4370 3 роки тому

      @@IFarmWeFarm a lot of times the moo call would be repeatedly giving the farmer an alert to say the cow is calving. A lot of farmers don't handle their cows to check and just call the vet as they assume something is wrong. When you go out to look at the cow she is usually not dilated yet. I seen one moo call telling the farmer the cow was going to calve and it was 6 days before she did.

    • @IFarmWeFarm
      @IFarmWeFarm  3 роки тому +1

      @@AgriSpec4370 but the MooCall is an aid, the farmer has to help the cow if needed, a farmer should know if his cow is in labour or close to calving 🤷🏻‍♂️. It’s the same with the camera system we have, it’s an aid too, it’s a very unusual and expensive thing not to handle a cow before calling a vet, we’d be out of business if we did it. Very surprised at that. Thanks for the comment though, I’m just a bit puzzled by it I guess.

    Lovely heifer👌 Why do you put your heifers in calf to Angus when they’re your best genetics?

      For easy calving, best genetics will still be there on there second calving, good question though 👏

      @@IFarmWeFarm Very good point 👍 I’d you pick the right Friesian you’ll have no bother either especially if you use a variety of bulls. Whatever works for you though 😃
