I loved this street epistemology. Great claims and questions asked and answered. thank you for your insights and making sense in this crazy world we find ourselves in at the moment. Louise, Sydney, Australia
So homeless people travel through the country? But can't rent a house? Wow! Dave makes so much sense.
Don't ask Rubin where the mother of his children are.
This is the one thing that no one mentions about Reubin - using surrogacy to create motherless children. Don't care if you are gay, straight or Kardashian, surrogacy is fundamentally wrong.
why ? What do you mean ?
Looks like Candace sent all her groupies here to leave comments about Dave? All the hinting at his homosexuality make clear from what corner this stuff comes from... I'm surprised I'm not seeing comments about his ethnic background... Dave can be annoying, and easily disagreed with on many topics, but he sure isn't a grifter and all these commenters know that.
@@wjdeoliveira3809 - Nah - it's about the unnecessary use of invitro and creation of a non-family.
It's actually over 3000 homeless in Miami. Miami is #19 the homeless population list of cities.
At the Dissident Dialogues event this past weekend in Brooklyn, Michael Shellenberger did a presentation in which he cited the super high student truancy rate that has existed since Covid began and ended as one of the biggest challenges facing America. It was really eye-opening for me. Haven't heard anyone else talking about it, but it is so foundational. If parents and school administrators can't keep kids in school, the country is screwed, and schools are now encouraging walkouts for students who want to cheer on Hamas.
Wow. AIPAC are getting everywhere with their funding today. Nice combination two hypocritical justifiers of the killing and starving of thousands of women and children together. AIPAC are getting everywhere. Money well spent I say best sanctimonious, self righteous, hypocrisy I have seen in ages guys. X
On the plus side, the students that remained in class when their teachers walked out immediately gained 10 IQ points.
Homelessness is a complex issue. It has many reason and no solution is big enough to solve the entire problem. And it takes decades to solve homelessness.
Beautiful reference to the TV show Sliders. Amazing show.
My Secret Identity was better.
@@kahwigulum Negative. 😀
It's fascinating how Dave says people don't want to vote for Biden but can't bring themselves to endorse Trump. Here in the UK we have the same problem but politically the other way round: no one wants to vote conservative but can't bring themselves to endorse Starmer. It seems the voters in middle ground have become 'homeless' in both countries.
The political elites in both countries do not represent the views, values or aspirations of the ordinary, non progressive, culturally conservative majority. We don't need different candidates, we need a different system.
Legal pot here in Canada is not an issue. It didn't create new users, it just made current users not have to buy shit weed from shady dealers. The streets don't smell like pot, and there weren't any appreciable increases in crime. The detractors kept saying that people were going to start driving high (start? newsflash they already were) and there weren't any appreciable increases in pot-related traffic fatalities. Overall, life went on and was pretty much the same, except for potheads getting good shit and pot sellers getting paid legally, and the provinces gained a new revenue stream so that other taxes could be lowered or at least not raised.
If the streets in the US smell like pot all the time, maybe that's a cultural issue and not a legality/policy one, because I've never noticed that problem here, nor did I notice it other places in the world where pot is regularly consumed. I don't even smoke pot, but I'm glad it's easily available for those who do. If the smell of weed smoke is your biggest problem with pot, then perhaps pot isn't that big of an issue.
It is a cultural issue. People in Portland and Seattle are dirty and the streets and apartment hallways absolutely reek of it. I know because I fled from there to Texas. Not because of the pot, that was fine aside from the smell. But because of the cost of living, filth, homelessness, drugs, antifa, riots, employment opportunities, wages and liberal madness.
There aren't any big issues with legalized pot in the US, either. In Oregon, the biggest issue is that there's too much supply and people can't make enough money growing and selling it. Problems with marijuana use is just a conservative talking point. Dave Rubin has all of those talking points memorized and recites them at any available moment. He went from being a liberal shill to a conservative shill because he's a shill of a human being. 😁
Not a bad conversation. I think he spent a bit to much hitting the talking points of his position instead of being engaged in the conversation.
I hear it's a side effect of having Dennis Praeger's hand/arm up your ass
It's most likely because Dave Rubin has no thought out positions.
It’s probably hard to get out of grift mode.
This was spectacular.
Humanity has a map of the human genome, despite not understanding what half of it means.
The fact that we don't have a cohesive map of human understanding is telling.
So, this is why...this is why we have such a divided country right now, it's shysters like Dave here. Miami, of course, does not have 480 homeless people. Any city could have impressive stats like that if they simply changed the way that homeless people are counted, as Mayor Suarez has. That 480 figure was a current count of people that were literally on the streets. A few thousand more were actually homeless in Miami at that time, but in shelters. Every city's homeless count would likewise be radically reduced if they simply changed the way that homeless folks are counted. Now, perhaps Dave simply isn't aware of this sleight of hand, but he should be if he's going to repeat these claims to his very large audience. The truth is that Florida has the 3rd highest population of the 50 states, & it also has the 3rd highest homeless population. But those are just objective facts, so let's toss those aside & reframe it as to paint the picture we want painted....it is 2024, after all, a post-truth America.
Amen
>A few thousand more were actually homeless in Miami at that time, but in shelters
Imagine that.
I’ve only ever seen boghossian on destiny’s stream and he usually comes off as a moderate/center right kinda guy, I’m glad to see him let his guard down and be more himself in this interview
Wonderful conversation!!!
I would have gone mad talking to Dave Rubin. His ideas are so ridicoulus. I can't even list them all, because there are too many.
For example, he said homeless people have money to travel but not to rent homes. Or there are homeless people because they throw money at them? How does that make sense?
I appreciate the open dialog its much needes. Respect despite the differences of opinions.
Fantastic interview! Really enjoyed it, as a fellow "classical liberal" who wonders how we all went mad so quickly!
Florida education still a joke. Starting pay is still $40K for teachers.
They’re ranked #1 in the country. What does that say about education everywhere else?
That amount is still too high to pay literal demons.
@@desertrose0601 That says they are cooking the books lol
So? You have to start somewhere and work your way up. Pay your dues. Unless you are a band director these people work 9 months out a year and get their summers off. So give me a break. If they wish, they can work summer jobs and/or volunteer to work summer school hours to make extra cash. My father did that. At the time of his retirement after 41 years in the system dad made nearly a six digit compensation combined with great benefits. Just stop. Public sector is public sector. Private is private. One might argue the public sector is the better deal at this particular time in history. Until the debt bubble bursts.
The marijuana legalization is state wide in Washington. I live an hour or so North of Seattle and you can't tell marijuana legalization is an issue but you sure can tell liberal/leftist culture and policies are.
Vote for RFK! He’s the best candidate by a long shot
Somehow Rubin lived in California until the pandemic. He likes Hungary but he lives in the US. Nothing makes sense.
Interesting take on the marijuana situation. I was a marijuana grower for many years under prohibition, and you know how it worked then? Pretty much like an an underground farmers market. It was chill, decentralized, and existed outside the control of the government, and largely flourished without the sensationalize negative consequences portrayed by the media. For every violent drug dealer, there were dozens upon dozens of people who lead quiet lives just growing a plant they loved and distributing it with honor. It was largely self-regulating.
And to add on to that, I as a tradesman, could get a decent warehouse space at a reasonable price to store my tools and materials and have a place for my bookkeeper to work. Now warehouse space is more expensive than high end retail space.
Vote the third rail: Robert F. Kennedy Jr 💜💜💜💜
"Defending my liberal values has now become a conservative position" - What a great way to explain how so many of us are feeling today.
🇬🇧
Amen. Agree. It's exactly how I feel.
he's been saying this for almost a decade and it's not that profound
conservatism is just progressivism-lite
How is this a great way to explain something? What does it even mean?
@@capcaptainmycaptain4771 It mean's people who've upheld what they considered liberal values their whole lives are now being told that these values are now on a more conservative positioning. The left end of the spectrum is going so far left that it makes the center left appear more and more right.
What liberal values does Dave even have now? I'd love to hear them bc he has backtracked on every single one in the last 10 yrs.
So just throwing money at things created homelessness? How does that make sense? That's not how the government works. You can only throw money at programs. You need a solution first before you can throw money.
There is no perfect candidate but there are Better and Worse candidates.
For me it’s RFK all the way. I’ve listened to dozens of hours of interviews and it’s insane how a 30 second clip with no context will change someone’s opinion of a person. Such terrible reasoning abilities.

There are a lot of Homeless people in Gainesville. At least, there were last year.
You're right, on a % basis, Gainesville has a real homeless problem, & Florida has the 3rd most homeless people of the 50-states, about what you'd expect. The Miami homeless # that Dave cites here is simply smoke & mirrors. It's a # that focuses only on people who were currently (at the time of the count) literally on the streets, & ignores everyone currently in homeless shelters. I, for one, am shocked that Miami's Mayor is purposely misleading everyone this way...that simply isn't how politicians behave (dry humor alert).
@@scottsherman5262 So the homeless are sheltered. Isn't that one of the goals?
@@chadnine3432 But they're still homeless. San Francisco has thousands of homeless people who live in their RVs. They don't live on the streets, but their RVs are parked on the streets. They count as homeless.
If you can't vote with integrity (Vote for the duopoly), you shouldn't vote at all.
Homelessness is a huge problem here in Florida I don't know what this man is talking about. Local municipalities just constantly drive them off so that they're always on the move. This is a red State they know how to make things like that work... we don't like Social Services here. You don't have to treat people humanely that's why they get put on planes telling them they're going to be sent somewhere to work and they end up at Martha's vineyard. DeSantis didn't want to give up the records to that he wanted to hide it. Cuz he's a liar
Dave Rubin cracks me up, only because of the enormous variance between reality & his imagineered reality. Nearly all of his fellow conservatives hate him or certainly would hate him if they understood he was gay.

We dont watch the same shows or have the same culture though. Study after study after study shows that the red and blue teams watch mostly different shows. Rural versus Urban will change your expectations of civil service for practical reasons, not even ideological ones. This is why federalism is critical
Rogan asked on his episode if anyone in the room of all his friends if anyone wasn’t voting for Trump. Rogan is totally voting for Trump.
First of all, he's not. Second, why does it matter so much to you who a comedian voted for?
Nah. Trump fucked himself over abortion policy. Pro choice peeps are just as psycho and 2A single issue voter.
@@alibabaschultz352 I'd normally agree with this sentiment, but Rogan is not "a comedian" in this context, he's literally the biggest podcast out there with many millions of Americans influenced by what he & his guests say, & the topics are quite often political in nature.
@@scottsherman5262 That doesn't change my question. Its like getting hyped about Taylor Swift endorsing Biden. Its silly.
@alibabaschultz352 Well, sure...to well reasoned people, even THE most successful podcaster won't have much affect in terms of voting patterns, but I ask you, what on Earth does that have to do with the majority of JRE fans? We're in the hyper-partsan dire straights that we're in because we are so easily influenced. Rogan isn't "a comedian", he's the most watched/listened to podcaster going. He himself warns that he shouldn't have influence on people, but he simply does.
I'm afraid Biden might win but won't change my vote for RFK. Both of these parties need less power.

I think Dave missed the connection on the weed reference and those particular states going bad, it’s not the cannabis it’s the leaders. Those are democrat ran places, in nyc for instance it’s horrible but some upstate areas are not so I believe it’s the ppl and the leadership.
I am not a fan of Trump but I am voting for him. I would vote for RFK but I don’t want a situation where I vote for him and Biden “wins”. I would forever feel like my vote could have helped Trump win and avoid the MASSIVE civil “unrest” that will follow. Dark times ahead. End of empire.
I can assure you Biden doesn't win. We all have to vote for RFK seriously. Let's get back to normalcy. The country will fall apart under Trump or Biden

It’s the interviewers job to direct the conversation. Dave starts to explain that our states are a laboratory to figure out what ideas work best and then side tracks himself on the marijuana issue.
I know better than to watch this. I'm just here to read comments. Dave just parrots talking points, he's not a thinker.
I just have a hard time taking Dave Rubin as an expert on anything in particular. Peter can restate the arguments and they do tend to sound a little better. It’s not like they’re all terrible but they’re all general or borrowed as far as they make sense. I just don’t think Rubin knows anything in particular. His points of view on the subjects here are as good as his points of view on anything else: pedestrian, surface-level, etc. content is content though.
Voters lose every election ;-(
There is a good reason everyone sane questions Rubin's IQ.
And what is that reason?
Yet Chris Hayes, Maddow, Stewart, Lemon, Joe/Mika....all sheer geniuses. You get my point I'm sure.
No I don't.
Those are insane lunatic Dem partisans.
He wants Nikki Haley to win
HE told you to disconnect it from ideology and provide evidence. Jesus Christ, does Dave Rubin understand English?
'I smoke weed and totally understand it's way safer than alcohol, but I'm kinda against the rec legalization because of no good reason at all.' Just pandering to anti-weed members of his audience and (unnecessarily) using it as another point to criticize the Left on. No reasoning behind it at all. Disappointing as most of what he said otherwise was pretty good.
imo Dave is a very limited, narrow thinker. An example is at 42:18 where Peter is looking for strategic ways to frame issues that someone cares about in a non-partisan manner in order to try and help persuade people, to which Dave responds that he is unable to unless he connects it to "politics" (ie. tell people Republicans are better than Democrats).
Hundred bucks says Rubin has precisely zero original thoughts or even anything particularly thought-provoking to say at all. The tenacity to forge a career off the back of such vapidity is astounding!
