One cannot help but be moved to tears by this amazing young man; Sung-bong Choi.
When Sung-bong decided to sing on the Talent Show "Korea's Got Talent" he had no idea that he would win the hearts of millions all over the world!
His story of his childhood is so moving that even the judges had a hard time keeping their composure.
He told the judges that even though he didn't think he could sing very well, he sang because it made him happy.
They couldn't have been more surprised.

Holy shit. So the dude can sing "Nella Fantasia" like that with no training?! To all of you who aren't familiar, this song is VERY HARD TO SING. Wow. I hope he is doing well for himself now. I also hope he has singing coaches who will help him refine his skills.
+stoneman472 I read a bit and it seems the story is a bit different from how thy show it on tv (strangely I'm not surprised). It seems he was going to an art high school and graduated there. I'm not saying he had an easy life, but probably not as bad as they present it here.
Anyways, he learnt how to sing for at least 3 years.

They said very clearly he was helped for free by a vocal instructor when he was around 14 (I have to find the article again to be sure) who actually helped him enter an art school
it wasn't a regular high school, but an art one, so I suspect there were vocal courses. But I think he said that because of money issues he couldn't attend most of the vocal courses... strange part number 1.
He graduated out of pity and not because he was actually good at art (including songs, maybe)... strange part number 2
According to me, the way he sings prooves in itself he had a solid training. Especially because it's in italian. I'm also pretty sure he couldn't go to an art school and have noone notice his abilities...
I think he was really in the streets but he got helped at some point (at 14, if I remember well; but maybe even before). The article I read also said he wasn't in the street after high school, but he entered university, had money trouble, and end up as a worker in the building business... (where he said he was beaten...)
Sounds to me he exagerated a bit the miserable part of his life... He was probably right because ppl like feeling empathy. And this video and comments are proof it works :)

His story made me remember 3 years ago when I had no one, no accommodation, and I was sick. my clothes and properties were outside for months under the rain and sun, the only person who accommodated me for one night ask me for sex, I refused and he chased me out. Today am a final year student and have a roof over my head, no more sleeping in lecture rooms and uncompleted building struggling to fight cold. thank you lord, thank you Jesus. My eyes are so filled with tears that am suffering from headache ryt now.

I have lost count of how many times I must have seen this video. Atleast 70-80 times for sure. This boy is a legend, a god's gift to music lovers. I do not know Korean language. I never understood a word of the lyrics of the song, but he has delivered the emotion of the song perfectly well. Public reaction to the song speaks for itself. Tears welled up in my eyes and I really felt like giving him a hug. A jewel that he is, his parents were really unfortunate to have to leave him in an orphanage.
I am sorry to know that he is fighting cancer. May god do the best for him.
I’ve been listening this for years and here I am again. I rarely can feel artists emotions while they are singing , but he has an aura that makes me feel and understand his music and feelings.. he is such a talented and powerful man. I only wish the best for him every time

TheNobleScoundrel Most of the time these shows (The "Got Talent" franchise) don't. it's all up to the individual or group to introduce themselves as they wish. I've watched many seasons of Britain's Got Talent, and everyone's story is different. Some performers don't have a sob story but they suck anyway, some do and they're amazing. Some have an inspiring and maybe cheeky introduction. This guy just happened to have a sad circumstance and an amazing talent.
Yet I'm sure if it was the other way around and the judges simply ran through people without a care for their introduction or their stories people would still be upset. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying he wasn't forced to give a response, he has a choice in how he chooses to introduce himself, and he chose to tell his story.
Why do idiots have to give thumbs down for such great performances? My guess is jealousy because there's not other reason I can think of to do that.

What they do, is they give it a thumbs down because they can and no one can stop them so they think they have a right to be rude, but in reality, no one should do that because all it does is make people feel unaccomplished. I'm not trying to be rude, but it really irks my nerves.
It's ones like Bob Mag that do stupid things feeling they have power to upset others but if in real life they would be hiding like little babies. Being ignorant makes them feel like someone but actually proves they are nobody at all.

I came here after a lecture from a pastor. He made us watch this and I had a goosebumps by his singing voice. Having that talent and courage to enter such stage is just amazing. Its just making me emotional that there was no one to celebrate his steps with him. I wonder where he is at this moment.
