I hate to be a buzz kill, but do you think this was set up? Wouldn't the sound people on the show know what was on the background music or whether there was a voice coming from her microphone? I think the whole thing was set up to add a little drama. She is a wonderful sister for sure.

There is an echo of her voice that sounds like it's being looped through some equipment. And I do think that they were 100% correct to ask her to sing it without the effects. I personally don't find anything wrong with the effects, but in a contest where it could give the wrong impression on her quality of singing, it makes sense to me. But yeah, once they dropped the backing effects, her voice is still fantastic. You can see them all just smirk like "ok yep, glad to be proven wrong on this one."

One of judges said: "we were thinking you were using voice effects" - to which she just smiled without opposing.
This performance is probably the single most video I have watched over and over again throughout the years on YT. It just randomly pops up here and there and I can't help but to watch it again and again.

It's just that... yeah, the whole set up is quite entertaining... what with the reveal that she's actually genuine and all... but... X factor would be playing a track without knowing what the track contains???? Really??? Wouldn't give much credibility to X-Factor's ability to offer a worthy winner to the world, would it? I'm guessing even the audience were hand-picked to be featured... they did not quite pull it off.

I have been watching this ever since I was in 7th grade, now I'm a 4th yr college student but I am still fascinated and felt goosebumps listening to aida, she sounds so ethereal like an angel coming down from heaven.
There's literally voice effect the first time like you can hear resound with the music and the second it doesn't. I guess it was planned to be ne entertaining
You give them the song your gonna sing whether it's a CD or a Bluetooth thing whatever they play it, you sing it. So someone could tell them to play a recording that is them lip syncing and the person playing it doesn't know.

What the judges are not seeing or hearing or understanding is that she’s using a microphone that has a reverb so it’s going to sound electronic because it is …sure she sang a cappella with the same microphone. Make her sing without the microphone so that you can hear her true voice.

What the judges are not seeing or hearing or understanding is that she’s using a microphone that has a reverb so it’s going to sound electronic because it is …sure she sang a cappella with the same microphone. Make her sing without the microphone so that you can hear her true voice.
