FLOCK Review - The Final Verdict

Flock is a relaxing game where you collect a host of unique creatures and explore a painterly landscape. Throughout the game, you’ll fly atop a bird and fill out your Aunt Jane’s Creature Guide. Exploring the environments as you listen for the hems and haws of these creatures is a delight thanks to the excellent sound design, but the process of documenting them could be better.
However, that isn’t all you do in Flock, you must locate the species-specific whistles in order to collect them. The guidance and flow of the environments is wonderful, though the ‘charm’ minigame gets repetitive pretty fast. With a wonderfully atmospheric soundtrack and colorful art style, Flock is a delight for the senses. It’s easy to pick and play and has full co-op functionality to boot. I’d especially recommend Flock to those who really enjoy Pokemon Snap or similar games where you fulfill the role of a zoologist.

If the foliage and grass moved in the wind this game would have really popped...and perhaps even become something special. As it is, the graphical style is pretty, but a bit stagnant. They really should have spent a little more time developing movement and life in the world. Thanks for the review!

@@SadalDay ??? I'm not seeing it. If it does it is too subtle. I'm talking something along the lines of Ghost of Tsushima levels of movement in the grass and trees. Perhaps some particle physics. It would be a bit more work for the developers but would have really set this game apart.

The absence of a verticality control was a terrible decision, birds fly, don't hover

high key disagree, i think that the game handles verticality on its own super well and making the player control it would just add frustration
