Demon Slayer is super fun, with a great cast of lovable characters such as Tanjiro, Inosuke, Nezuko, Rengoku, and the list goes on. One of my favorite characters is one that many think to be annoying, including me at one point. However, as I found out his story, I couldn't help but be inspired, by this young, jittery, eccentric young man, Zenitsu Agatsuma. This video is about how he inspired me and what I think the author's intent with his character was. Hope you enjoy!

Both Inosuke and Zenitsu never had anyone in their life. But Tanjiro being a big bro to them is really a great sight to watch.
But ironically zenitsu is the oldest among the three of them 😂😂

Zenititsu is a character I enjoy for the idea of growth, having a bad look for yourself is relatable and wanting someone to be there for you is also relatable to me as well but he begins to learns to go beyond his weaknesses and become not only a Strong Slayer, but a Stronger version of Himself, even if it will take time.

Craziest part about it is that Zenitsu is extremely relatable. I love how he “dreams” of being the hero while he fights when he’s literally the hero of the scenario. It’s actually kind of tragic to me, like he’s so close but just can’t reach where he wants to go. I can’t wait to see what happens after the Entertainment District Arc that just finished. Anime only 💯
Honestly, what endeared me to Zenitsu that episode was not his show of strength, but the scenes afterwards after he got out of the house. When Inosuke detects Nezuko inside the box, Inosuke attempted to kill Nezuko but Zenitsu stops him without hesiation. WHy? Because he knew something inside of that box was precious to Tanjiro and later on you learn that Zenitsu is a guy who desires to be loved and to love.
So for him to endure all those blows, just to protect someone else's treasure, with no thought of being rewarded, showed that he was a good guy at heart to me.
He even knew what was inside the box as well, he can hear demons just like Tanjiro can smell them. But he fully trusted Tanjiro and never even tried to pry about it. He is a coward. but somehow he didn't fear the demon right next to him as he traveled.
That is what made him one of my favorite characters.

To be perfectly honest I’ve never seen Zenitsu as annoying! Because as soon as he was introduced I just kept thinking, “you know what? If I was in his situation I’d be acting the exact same way!” I think that’s also why he clings and cherishes Inosuke and Tanjirou so much! They don’t care about whether he whines or clings to them or how “weak” he is. Cause they see him the same, just same ole Zenistu, their friend. Because they knew right from the beginning that he was strong! In their own way subconsciously. And because of this Zenistu’s further quirks comes out, as you can see when he bickers with Inosuke. It’s really wholesome to see his growth!
Same I've never seen him annoying at all and I overall just think he is funny and we got yo be honest if we saw a demon we'd probably do the exact same thing as him and run away or hide
I know this is an old comment/video but I just had to comment. I think a large part of the reason I don’t find zenitsu annoying is because when he was first introduced at final selection he was in shock, staring at the ground, telling himeself over and over “I’m going to die. I survived final selection but I’m going to be killed on my first mission”. It wasn’t a flamboyant over the top whining and crying like later in the season. And I think that very serious introduction grounded the character so I don’t see him as just a a pathetic whiny brat, but a character that is genuinely afraid for his life and feels like he can’t do anything to help himself.

Zenitsu is a similar character to Usopp from One Piece, both are cowards and run at the first sight of trouble. But when push comes to shove, they just plant themselves like a tree to protect their friends.
I think these types of characters represent us viewers, to show our weakness and to show that we can be brave and strong too if we need to.

I love the fact that he could be one of if not the strongest demon slayer. it’s shown in the entertainment arc that not only is he strong and tenacious but a great battle tactician. he talks about the battle. he reads and plans. He tells his ally’s what to do. he makes a great leader.
Tbh, I never thought much of Zenitsu. Didn't hate him nor did I like him either. But this video opened my eyes to him a little. Thunder breath seems like an overpowered and really difficult style to learn, so I don't blame him for knowing only one form.
This same quote from when Jigoro said to Zenitsu that also got me: you can cry, you can run away; but never give up.
That was the most important line and it applies to almost everything I do.
He can run away but never give up.. Implies that it's OK to give up, as running away is giving up. He should have said "It is OK to cry, to refocus and try again as long as you never give up".
6:35 you just covered up most of my childhood. Even I can relate zeintsu childhood life with mine. I had no remeberable friends in my life, my mother don't care me and father, he just don't know about parenting. But if i have to say about contribution as a parent, I would praise my father that at least my needs were fulfilled. But most of the time, I got many times accused as failure and coward, especially mother who just add fuels in flames.
I could be like zeintsu and plays his character accurately, but for some reason I am not like that now. Somehow three years earlier when I was 16, I got interested in stories and philosophies. I read many character's stories that helped me frame myself and guides my instinct. Even though I still don't hold friends and girlfriend, but I feel proud to do myself alone. Then I ended up being an incredible in academics. I also do some part time jobs that are labor intensive but everday when I wake up I got motivated just because of ther friction character's story. Not only zeintsu but tanjiro, rengoku, uzui, kratos from God of war and so on. Because of their story, I feel like someone would be writing about my story so that it motivated those who has or had the childhood like zeintsu and me
ZENITSU MY BABY IS DEFINITELY THE BEST. like every time I start an anime i criticize it. His character is the only one I could barely criticize. He reminded me of myself and whatever I would do if I were there

Woah, great video! Zenitsu is one of my favorite characters; he’s surprisingly complex and the themes that he shows are very special to me.
Damn you should make another video talking about the latest season. What zenitsu always meant for me is that you often don't even know what you are capable of. He had defeated so many demons and he doesn't even know he did. He doesn't know how amazing he is.

@@seawulf95 no cap before *that* point i'm totally sure if Zenitsu tried to practice the other 5 forms again he would be able to do it, but just as you said, he did something even better: he practiced his strongest technique to perfection, a *flaming* *thunder* perfection.
From the moment I layed my eyes on zenitsu i fell in love. I saw his whinning as a facade and his sleeping side as his true face, his act said so much but his eyes spoke volumes
he was my favorite from the very start and he'll ALWAYS be my fav. I found him sweet, annoying, and endearing. he possessed so much strength and was so unassuming. he was the most vulnerable and yet, so powerful. only Rengoku could compare in my eyes.
I also read something related to zenitsu that why he always clinging to girls is bcz he never have any parents( mother specially) so nobody loves him he just want to fill that gap with some love form a girl so he always try to get affections from them. ( unconsciously)
Agatsuma Zenitsu really is an Amazing Character🔥🔥 The way his Character Developed to an insane level even while carrying self doubt is really something... He reminds of another one of my favorite character Son Gohan... Even Son Gohan carried self doubt all along with himself and unlike Goku and Vegeta he wasn't Great... He had Greatness Thrust upon himself and saved the world... Agatsuma Zenitsu is just the same... he trained and thrusted himself, came up with his own Thunder Breathing 7th form in order to get revenge for his Gramps... And in the end He really became a Great character in Demon Slayer... I just love his Character... Thanks a lot for this video...❤️❤️
I really enjoy Zenitsu because there is so much depth to his character. I'm interested to see more of his past and see the depts of his self loathing to overcome them. Because accepting your flaws is difficult and hard. Harder when you see yourself as worthless and dealing with self hatred.
Too bad such an interesting character gets shafted in the series. His inner soul is literally a dark empty void in the Mugen Train. Sure would've been nice to see more development from that. Plus he gets passed his self hatred waaay too fast.

I have been related to zenitsu more than I want to be. My wife even say's hes "my" character. I think its because of the insane crippling anxiety, yet when put in positions that would quite litterally break most and would otherwise be deemed unfixable, I've always found a way through my extreme mental breakdowns to come through and come out on top. I don't understand how I have made it to where I have in life.
One of my absolute favorite aspects of Demon Slayer is how the characters grow on you so fast and so completely.
I'm starting freelancing full time today, and this video couldn't land at a better time.

It's really disheartening that people need a relatable backstory or a sakuga reel to quit hating on Zenitsu. You shouldn't sneer at him and call him pathetic, even if he hadn't mastered thunder breathing and killed a demon while asleep. Your response should be to want to hug him and tell him it's all going to be alright, you should want to support him and defend him and build him up. He is clearly giving his best despite being a nervous wreck, and the arrogance of being annoyed at him and comparing him calls into question the very light of the human spirit that shines within you
I love zenitsu. At first I thought he was hilarious, and then when he did his first thunder breathing I thought he was a secret badass. But what really solidified him as my favorite was after rengoku’s death. Despite the fact that he was asleep and didn’t even see the battle nor was aware he did anything, he was still greatly affected by his death just like tanjiro and inosuke. He stopped complaining about training, even when he’s afraid of going out alone, he does it still. When a demon is in front of him, he does not run away but fearfully faces them. Zenitsu is a coward, but a brave coward with a golden heart and I love him for it

One thing I don’t like about Zenitsu is how author they made him too a bit overpower and let him fight in sleep mode. For the first time, I like how he change in EP 17, but I didn’t like how author pace his whole backstory in one episode and I would like it much better if we can get little of his backstory like flashback, so we, the watcher can wonder about Zenitsu past. In Mugan train arc of course the author have to made him asleep, but gave it a pass. Then the entertainment arc, which made me hate author of making Zenitsu asleep and you can say that he was asleep in belt, but I would like better if he were to battle with open eyes.
The opening always had me thinking something big would happen for him since you see him preforming the technique there hinting at the season 1 episode. Like Rock Lee tenacity beats talent every time.

Love hashira is a push by love, Flame Hashira is a push by flame/passion.
Thunder hashira is a constant barrage of pushes, It might stop and go and push you the hardest. and after said and done,you'll be a quiet thunder. but then you'll soon become the storm.

This is a bit off topic, but I think it reinforces just how much effort Zenitsu really put into his training.
Personally, I always thought that Zenitsu was able to fight so well whilst unconscious due to a combination of being a sleepwalker and possessing Mushin, the ability to enter "the zone." It is something that most people *can* do but don't know how to, partially because direct effort will never work. It requires the *abolishment* of effort together with a high level of skill and strong muscle memory.
It's the ability for the body to make the optimal decisions on its own, without imput from the conciousness. Zenitsu has practiced so much and has so much raw talent, is at such a high level of skill, that he can execute Thunderclap and Flash without the need to think.
His sleepwalking is just a shortcut, not a requirement. At the end of the day, it is merely a substitute for a trance or a distraction that keeps his mind off the fight and the opponent.

Um, hi. I'm a degen trader, 50+ and clueless. I don't know how I stumbled across this anime (actually I do, but I'll keep my identity crisis out of it) Uhm... it's true. Learn one skill and within that one skill, learn one technique., and then more.
There was an old guy from the 70's who passed recently and who also taught me one thing in regards to trading: and I quote" There are 40,000 indicators to choose from. Pick one. Learn it inside and out. Understand everything about it."
So I did. I spent 7 or 8 years, mastering one weapon. That lead to more and more and more. The more that I learned about that weapon, the more I learned that I didn't need that weapon. I simplified. I got more efficient. Eventually, I mastered something that I wasn't prepared for and now my weapon is more sharp than it has ever been.
One weapon. Probability Distribution. Funny how life works.

For the first few episodes he was introduced, Zenitsu was annoying, there is no question about it; however, he quickly became my favorite character in all of Demon Slayer, because even though he’s frightened for his life, he still brings down his sword on demons as he should, and does it for himself and his friends no less
