I’m blown away by this amp. It’s essentially my dream amp. Even just the fact Fender was willing to do harmonic trem for the first time in over 60 years, props to them. If only I didn’t have to sell everything I own to buy it lol.
@@jamescassidy4045 The big Fender brown face amps between 1960 and 1963 had harmonic trem, as well as some Supro amps. But Fender hadn’t had that kind of tremolo on their amps since 1963. All Fender amps that had tremolo post-1963 had the most common trem. The common type of tremolo modulates volume, like on a Deluxe Reverb. Harmonic tremolo still modulates volume, but the signal is split so that the higher frequencies and the low frequencies are modulating separately. And the way the two frequencies modulate between each other, it creates phase relationship that makes it sound like a cross between tremolo and phaser. Very cool. It actually sounds 90% similar to Uni-Vibe.
When I heard this amp was coming out I thought it would be kind of corny. Man I was wrong. This is one of the most unique apps I’ve seen and heard I love it. 3k is pretty steep though!
It's def steep, but as long as Fender's kept stuff high quality, I'd be willing to pay for a high quality PCB Amp, but that said, for this kind of money though, I'm more likely to buy a boutique hand built point to point amp. That said, hopefully Fender hasn't, and wont go the way of Marshall by penny pinching, and putting in shit transformers, and shit like that. Also, look at Gibson, and what they are charging for a single ended PCB low watt tube amp(I'm referring to those reissue vintage one's or whatever they are claiming it is. Not only that, but you could get the real thing for like $500-1000, and the day that amp came out people were asking $2000-3500 for aN OG one. I just plainly wont support company's that do shit this way anymore, and will either look for a vintage one, but I'll never panic buy, and pay insane prices, which is a whole other topic. I'm not saying I won't pay good money for a good amp, but I don't play the picker/flipper game when it comes to buying, or selling. People just make up prices, hoping people will panic buy it, or get FOMO, and that perpetuates the next dude to make up some new ridiculous unheard of price. So yeah, I'll either pay a realistic price for an OG amp, before company's started getting cheap as fk, or I'll pay a boutique amp maker for a quality amp, or a legit vintage replica. My last point was it seems like Fender all in all is keeping quality good, and prices pretty fair. I haven't researched the actual build of this Amp yet, but I assume they have kept on using quality parts/components/transformers etc, and the guy's in suits haven't gotten to greedy like some other company's seem to be doing, instead of making their profits by giving people what they want/deserve, and charging for it vs cutting quality, and keeping costs down to look good, or whatever the case. Like what is it? I think it goes, most people would rather spend a bit more for quality, than say, Fender taking this AMp, putting shit transformers in it, and saying oh look, it's $2700 now instead of $3000 type thing.
@@bmoneybby Yah, sounds pretty sweet from what I've heard. That's about all I know, but like I said, I doubt Fender has started cutting corners anywhere, or at least any big one's to save on apparent cost. Seems like a pretty fair deal. I'd like to see an inspection video of the board/circuit/parts by someone though before Id be able to spend that.
I agree, it’s incredible. I’ve been dying for Fender to make a modern amp with harmonic tremolo. I just hoped there would be a model with it that isn’t 3k. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll make a smaller, made in Mexico version. Probably not though.
This is maybe my favorite demo I’ve ever seen on UA-cam, for my taste anyway. No widdly diddly. Actual realistic chord changes, with beautiful arpeggios. If I could afford it, this demo is such high quality that they’ve sold me on it!
Very exciting amp. Love the looks and the tones. And really appreciated your demoing the different stereo and mono sounds by isolating left and right mics and both in combo.
I’ve been playing with these design ideas in my head for years. It’s really cool to see this executed - apparently very well at that - and in a new product. Very cool.
I wish they had an input for each side of the amp so you could run pedals into just one of the speakers. Even without that I still would absolutely love one of these bad boys
This thing sounds great. Wish it had a stereo effects loop… which blows my mind as to why it doesn’t. I’m sure the onboard effects are awesome, but I want the ability to craft my own sounds using this speaker combo. Really no excuse not to have it at $3000.
First good demo I've heard with this amp. You seem to be the only one that gets how to use this amp the way it was meant to be used. Too bad it is so expensive! Not to mention heavy has hell.
Wow I love it! google says 2.698 CHF in Switzerland. My wife has been promising to kick me out of the house if I keep spending money on guitars/componenets. Hopefully this amp would get me that ticket. WIN WIN as far I can see!
It's a sweet amp. Hopefully they hold up well for the price. Should be a good amp to gig with as it has a MV but I'm sure its 70 lbs. +. A head would not be the same unless they sold a matching cabinet with it.
Yeah, we need more info, open her up man and show us the guts, on secind thoughts don't bother. If it was that well made they would show off the nerdy bits. Too big , too x pensive, too much to go wrong with all those gizmos in it .
My granddad owned a 1953 telecaster and a Gibson 59 LP with money from his newspaper route. But he used to comment that he had always dreamt of owning a Gibson hollowbody. He died in 2013, and Gibson still hasn't come out with a hollowbody. Do you think other guitar players watching this video also have the same dream?
How is this thing on lower volumes? Like any tube amp, I assume the tubes won’t sound great very quiet, but is it reasonable to play at volumes fit for a house of apartment?
The built in boost helps a lot to get the tubes cooking while the master lowers the volume, I'd say it's reasonable because the stereo features work well while the amp is quiet too.
Oh how I wish they made a Made in Mexico version of this, like the ‘65 reissues. I understand that an amp with all these features is surely way too labor-intensive to be MIM and under $2k. Maybe if they made a single 12”, Deluxe Reverb-sized version, it could be possible. All I know is that I would give anything to have this amp, but I would need to sell much of my gear to even begin to afford it.
Came for the licks stayed for Jack White, and sadly, he never showed... jk, I love your channel. I'm just a little disappointed in myself, thinking JW was gonna show up at some point, lol 😅😂
I bet a pair of 68 deluxes would be a better stereo settup. This new combo sounds like it's got a colony of gnatts buzzing around inside. Harsh brutal treble. Can't judge by video but an oversized biscuit tin with 20 cheapo hifi speakers may get you a similar result...wheres the paracetamol?
I agree. I'm not digging the driven sounds as much as the cleans. Lots of crispy fizzy noise. Can that just be a pedal or something? Some parts near the end are pretty cool though.
It’s 61 lbs (27.66 kg)…that is a heavy sucker. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have the amp, but that amp deserves its own roadie. I still really, really, really, really want one.
I have to say, I see this getting a ton of praise everywhere but I'm pretty underwhelmed? Acknowledging upfront that this is YT and not the same as being in the room, I just don't think it sounds that great. Unlike another poster, when I first saw this I was stoked - very cool concept chock-full of features and functionality as a Frankenstein of some of JW's personal favorite amps which happen to be some of my personal favorite amps and I'm just not that impressed somehow. Again, it's cool - but as someone who owns a Vibroverb, a Vibro King, a Super Reverb and 2 different Deluxe Reverbs, I'm left thinking I don't like this "hybrid" any more than I like any of the ones I own, individually. Maybe I'm alone here but despite really wanting to love this I just don't think it sounds as good as it should. A scenario where the sum doesn't seem to equal its parts somehow. Neat nonetheless but not for me.
Sounds cool but... $3k for an amp that weights 28kg in an era where everybody is debating whether an amp is necessary anymore. If you want to kill your back in a cheaper way, Reverb is flooded with twin reverbs that you can get for nothing these days.
The greatest amp ever is always the CLEANEST ONE. OK with the 15 and 10 inch speakers. All OK but you can get great clean tones with those simple 212 or 112 configurations,. So great design for this amp but no thanks! 3000 euros? No way!
Agreed, guve me a princeton 68 reissue and a Deluxe reissue on stands at ear level with a Y lead and it should' be 20 times more versatile and easier to lug about. Silly yellow highlighting says " oooh look at my amp , I am a fashion victim from the late 90s"!
