I am impressed by the Neural Filters, especially the exceptional Blur effect. While I possess a camera system equipped with wide-opening, high-quality lenses, it's not always convenient to carry it around. However, my trusty iPhone is always by my side. With the latest 48-megapixel camera on my iPhone, I've started treating it as a professional-grade camera. I have it configured to capture raw images, and I exclusively use the 1x camera mode to obtain 48-megapixel raw photos. Although the Portrait mode offers some fantastic features, the resulting file is limited to 12 megapixels. Thankfully, with the help of Photoshop's Depth Blur feature, I can now capture sharp, front-to-back 48-megapixel shots and add depth blur during post-processing. As someone who has been engaged in photography since the mid-70s, I find myself enjoying this art form more with each passing day. 😎🤙

Thanks for this introduction. I've been using the Depth Blur for a month or so and I have two "wishes". First, I wish it had a "go" button. If you make an adjustment to blur strength or haze, the adjustment starts as soon as you lift your finger from the mouse button. If you want to increase blur and at the same time decrease haze, it has to be done in two steps. Normally, this would not be a major problem, but on my computer, the processing on my device seems to be a bit slow and can take some time. The computer you are using for this video seems to make instantaneous adjustments but I never have that with this tool.
The second wish is for the other sliders in the tool to act like the blur and haze slider. Decreasing saturation decreases the saturation on the entire image and not just the parts that are out of the "focal" plane. Same with tint, temp and brightness. I can take the image out of the neural filters to accomplish this without a problem. But since I'm dealing with a depth issue, I would like the other sliders to act on the depth planes as blur and haze do.

Thanks, Dave. Easy to follow. However, I'm trying to apply a depth blur to an image that has a smart object in it. The smart object is a flat fabric pattern to be used to display different fabrics on a table runner. The original image is a table with a runner on it that already has the shallow depth of field so that the back end of the table and dinnerware is out of focus. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get that smart object to have a depth of field blur that matches the table. I can use the depth blur on the original background image, and I can even use the depth blur on the smart object pattern, but because the pattern itself is flat, photoshop AI wants to analyze the pattern and focus on the pattern elements (i.e. focus on flowers on the pattern and blurring the background of the pattern) instead of a depth blur that extends from the front of the pattern to the back, if that makes sense. Is there a way to combine a gradient with the depth blur to instruct photoshop to use the gradient to inform the blur ?

I also use luminar neo, but to process lumix Raw2 files the Al in Topaz studio 2 is much better.
