I'm 37 and have been dealing with tinnitus for over 10 years. I think it's a result of listening to music too loud for too long: first my Walkman, then my Discman, then my iPod, in my car, concerts... The only thing I've found that works to cope is noise. Noise all the time. I love music, I love podcasts. It's very rare that I don't have music or a podcast playing. UA-cam is also good background noise. Night time is worse because the world is quiet, so I listen to ASMR and sleep with an air purifier running, so that adds white noise. It sucks but it is what it is 🤷🏻♀️ I'm just grateful that I love music and that there are so many entertaining podcasts to choose from these days. Not sure how well I would cope back in the days before this modern technology.
I'm so glad you've found your coping strategy as 10 years is a long time to live with this. I totally understand the noise distraction and I think you've got a very inspiring approach that will help lots of people looking for ideas from those in the same position. Thanks for sharing!
Take a look at the SCM muscle for tinnitus. Learned a release technique decades ago as a clinical massage therapist and it's been my go-to since. It's never not worked, on myself or others. It can't help with damage to the ear, but most tinnitus isn't down to damage.
That's amazing information thanks! Interesting that its not been discussed by any medical contacts in my experiences - I wonder why? I'll definitely be taking a look and hope others will benefit from your knowledge x
I occasionally suffer with tinnitus but I also have Visual Snow Syndrome which is almost like a visual form of tinnitus - my vision has always had what looks like it has interference as if it's an old analogue TV that's not quite tuned in properly, so even when I close my eyes I see flashing dots and shapes and lines. My eyes are fine, I have regular eye checkups, it's just my brain that interprets the signals incorrectly. Fortunately I don't have it as badly as some other sufferers so it's more of a distraction and annoyance than anything that gets in the way, but I wonder if things like Indian Head Massage might have an effect on VSS too?
I feel for you - I’ve never heard of this condition & you’d think there would be more information about it considering how it affects you! I’m glad to hear you have a coping strategy & that you’ve got it under control. If your Dr hasn’t said otherwise then trying head massage and/or a targeted facial massage could bring about relaxation & relief. I’d love to know how you get on if you try them 🙏🏻

Interesting. I'll tell my mum: she suffers from tinnitus.
I hope there's something here she can try!
Я ничего не понял, но мне понравилось)
I'll take that! 😀
Привет!😊
