Why did they have to downgrade the popsocket technology so if it comes off you feel like you got to buy a new one

This was smooth. I was fighting it with a pick while the small dime sized disc was still attached to the base. Taking that off was the key and stretching the “rubber” with needle nosed pliers did the trick. Thanks.

Okay so I had none of the tools you did, however I was still able to use this video to figure out how to fix it with the common tools I had! I used a nail clipper, tweezers and a crochet hook with a thick handle. I used the nail clippers to pull the connector piece out of the sticky piece. Then I used the tweezers to spread the hole open and the fat end of the crochet hook to keep it propped open. Then I just pushed the connector piece down towards myself into the hole, not letting go till the hole was fully over the lip! Thankfully the sticky piece was still on my phone so I didn't have to worry about getting more sticky stuff!

you are the fcking man! You just saved me $30 on my stupid Magsafe popsocket! My dumb ahh was playing around with it and sticking it to things and i stuck it on a metal tray because it is so satisfying hearing the snap when it attaches to metal objects and it was on so tight that when I tried pulling it off the magsafe part stayed on the tray and the other part ripped off lmao. I thought it was done for and I was so pissed until I searched up vid and clicked on yours. At first I couldn't get the damn little circle piece inside the rubber part because the pliers were in the way so I just did it half way like you did and got the rest of the lip around it with a plastic spudger pry tool. Thank you for your service my good sir!!

It was way harder for me than it was for gou in your video. Mine didnt pop out like it was supposed to and i almost broke it. Then i didnt have needle nose pliers so opening the hole was way harder. Then i dropped the plastic pieve inside and tboughh it was a lose but finallt got the rubber all the way around it after 30 minutes of trying to fix it. But now my pop socket is fixed thanks to your video, so thank you!

Thanks, it worked. I didn't have those pliers so the second part was a struggle but then I pushed the plastick bit into the rubber button and to my surprise it was much easier to fish out the narrower part that connects to the base.

Alternative if you don't wanna take the black hard plastic off is (You still need the plyers to stretch it)
    1. Stretch it most you can-
    2. While it is still stretched slide it so it is halfway on-
    3. With a kinda thick needle stab it into the plastic
    4. Move the remaining bit into place
Now you WILL be stabbing the plastic- but this was how i did it AND you won't have to buy a new backing. And the puncture will be small and you won't notice it really.
