My understanding is that the veneers are assembled in successive cross-grain layers with the top layer having its grain longitudinal to the length of the guitar. The tops and backs are approximately 1/4" in thickness after layup.
These Gibson are incredibles, really. But I prefer the es 339.
335 is “warmer, rounder.” Both sound “bright.” I have this 339 & it can’t compare to the ‘69 335 I owned!

I’m thinking of getting the Gibson ES-335 iced tea. They are $6000 here in Canada.
