    Absolutely correct.
    I discovered in my desire to overcome alcohol that motivation also requires BOTH types to ultimately be effective.
    Not just one; Push or Pull. It usually begins with Push, you have to make yourself do it and be determined. Then if that is applied long enough you begin to reap rewards and it eventually becomes Pull motivation. I think when someone waits on motivation what they are actually doing is avoiding the Push part first and trying to skip to Pull. That's why the simplistic modern advice of "just find your passion and everything will be natural after that" is a form of skipping the pain. Find what you enjoy doing, no doubt, but be determined to do the things you don't like to do, to reach that point. You can't skip the line.
    Sorry; I could go on all day on this subject :)
    And it is funny how Newton's "discovered" laws of God's laws in nature apply even in situations like this. Energy to overcome inertia, "desire", then momentum "more difficult to stop the energy in that direction".

    Thanks a ton for such amazing and helpful videos sir! 😇
    Lately, after studying for an hour or two, the gratification goes so crazy that i end up taking a break longer than my studying time. Despite it bothering me a lot, i still go on like that. I have been good at academics and have never been this callous. I am clueless why this has started happening now.
    Can you kindly give some tips so that I can improve and not continue with this weird habit of sorts?

    Another great video Uncle Matt.
    I'm not that much into self-talk. But what I do is watch movie clips of people studying. There's plenty of them out there, even Hary Potter studying at Hogwarts. I feel like: YEAH! I can do that. Also if it's something physical I watch a how to video. Although I need to set a timer.

    • @BeSmarterFaster
      @BeSmarterFaster  Місяць тому

      Hi there TBT... setting a timer is a great productivity hack. It makes a person more accountable to themselves, and you can even make a game of it.

    2:25: I know it was just an analogy, but the energy of a moving object increases by the square of velocity. To move something twice as fast, you need four times the energy. That means to accelerate an object such that the final velocity is twice that of the initial velocity, you need to add three times more energy than the object already holds.
    You teach me, I teach you!
