As a neutral country stuck between so many strong powers, how will Tommy navigate and survive?

and

Its not Meta they are just not as bad as e.g. the France player. But there should be a rule to balance out the Game, Germany against Soviets USA France and UK doesnt really seem fair.
To be fair, Tommy promised Portugal the Congo, accepted payment for it, and then immediately sold it to another faction. Is it really unfair and meta, for Spain to then betray Tommy? Tommy was the one who opened Pandora’s box when it came to that sort of thing.

A game master would be perfect, controlling the game to make it less meta but still fun for everyone. It will also allow you to remove some rules and leave it up to the game master instead of having 8 pages of rules as it is now

Question, I'm trying to get ok in hoi4, does anyone know a good country to play? I'm thinking of trying Germany for once since all the others I have tryed sucked
Germany,Japan,Soviets
Canada is a great starting nation, you can peacefully build up and create a small but elite tank force with a good focus tree. You’ll learn how to build and use tank divisions and it won’t be a headache like any major in Europe. After that i’d say go for Germany since they’re the easiest of the majors (due to how bad the ai is). It’s all trial and error and throwing yourself at it until you solve it though, good luck lad!
And make sure to not worry about Navy like at all. It’s too much of a headache to manage and understand when you should be learning the army and air parts of warfare. You could just steal your way into a navy in peace deals and this works as the ai tends to just not build good ships so a stolen navy even if outdated for the tech still fulfills the job it needs to.
depends what you want, if you want slow build up game i recommend soviets or usa, if you want fast game then germany, if you want mix of those japan, italy or uk
