If you're working your way North East around the coast, do make sure to stop in Cirali (approx 20 miles South of Kemer). The Chimera (at night) is an awe inspiring sight, the village is awesome too. Oh and don't forget to ask about the "English Wedding" in 2011 (I'm sure many will remember it) - ask at Azure Restaurant on the Beach, or at Aida Hotel 500m inland. Cirali has a history of it's own, worth reading about. (I may be biased, I got married there in 2011) :)
(Baz) Hi madengman, we did visit Cirali in episode 056 and we cooked sausages on the fires. It is a beautiful place, the ruins are amazing too. In my blog #66 on our website I write about the history/mythology of Cirali, it is a fascinating story. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Great video as always!! I love the way you both explain things. As armchair sailors we are learning right along with you! You both are so brave - sailing that big beautiful boat is quite an undertaking. Thanks for sharing the lessons and for all the effort you put into making the videos. They are top shelf!!
Hi Beth, we love your feedback. Sharing our experiences so that others can hopefully gain some knowledge or be inspired is one of our main objectives. We're glad to have you along with us on our journey.
(Baz) This is my prayer to the beer gods every morning. Our lager, which art in barrels, hallowed be thy drink, Thy will be drunk at home as I am in taverns. Give us this day our foamy head and forgive us our spillages, As we forgive those who spill against us. Lead us not to incarceration but deliver us from hangovers, for thine is the beer, the bitter and the lager, Forever and ever, Barmen.
A floppy chain is a happy windless...gotta love that snubber. 😎 Hassan's sly laugh and unassuming estimation of his cooking ability 👍 Background sound @ 1:18 is excellent. Beautifully done. Cheers 🥂
Thanks Steven (Aannsha here), it is one big holiday and a 40 hour editing week thrown together into a very interesting and absorbing mix. Sometimes it's easy to get so focused on computer work that when I go outside, I remember to stop and 'smell the roses'. And that's when I feel like I'm in holiday mode. 😀
Consumed a few EFES beers myself last Summer ! Good to hear you have changed your plans. It would have been quite a trip up there. Sure you will have a wonderful time exploring the Greek Islands :)
Sadly John today was not what you'd call a sail... lol We left the anchorage at 8.00am and the wind felt promising, but the wind gods were just playing with us. Wind up, sails out, wind gone x 3 had to motor eventually. Quite frustrating.
Hi good to see you back sailing You could make life so much better if you set you sails better so they don’t flog As we see often So many of these sites ails are not set correctly , off the wind cars foward on the wind cars back adjust ,to pull downward on the wind adjust foward reaching and brace down to suite you gain speed. Cold vid look foward to each keep going
Hi Gess, we are still very much in the learning phase of sail trim so we appreciate your suggestions. At the moment we're just happy to have enough wind to warrant getting the sails unfurled. Cheers.
The boat I was working on used to tie up to a rock near the cafes under the castle on the hill. Hardly any jetties then. No marineas then it was one of my favorite places in turkey. Sadly never got to explore it as I was a boat slave crew! Might see if I can dig out a photo or 2 from 40 years ago. No digital then. You had to make every pic count!
@@SailingABSea oh God they might be on slide film! Have to get a digitiser. Mind you I took lots on kodachrome 25. The digital equivalent of 10 mega pixels today. So might transfer OK.
Given the current southerlies I would go further up to roughly Izmir, check out there and head to Lesbos or Chios. That gives you the entire summer of ridding the Melthemi down through the Cyclades and Dodecanese.
What the wind gods tell the wind prediction websites and what the wind gods actually deliver on the sea are two very different things, we are not happy with the wind gods. 🙄
Sailing A B Sea in a couple of weeks it will be the normal northerlies until end of Sept. BTW am close to Didim right now, in a little inlet just south of it. Planning to head to Didim by end of week once major boat prep is done.
We have to be in Samos by May 17th. All will be revealed in a future video. After that date deadline we have vowed that there will be no more dates to meet. We will then be able to wait for the wind and go where it takes us. 😀
They install leech lines in sails for a reason :-) Find a good sailor, stock up with Efes and go for a couple of days of good pointing sailing. It takes only 20 minutes of trimming by an experienced hand to teach you that sailing upwind is great fun and not a way of wearing out sails. Plus, you'll leave the cats in your wake. Rapidly. If you're getting so wet there's something wrong with your foul weather gear (or the way you're wearing it), dodger, etc. It shouldn't be miserable. Honestly! Finally, why is the anchor locker hatch up all the time? It will clatter while running and keep you awake at anchor. Drop it (but don't lock it)!!! Keep on keeping on :-)
Hi Paul, I think the problem with the wet weather gear was I hadn't closed the neck properly. Anchor locker hatch is always locked when sailing but secured open when at anchor. Agreed on getting an experienced sailor on board to explain and teach us trimming. We're sure we'll find a few once it starts to get busy. We appreciate the constructive feedback. Cheers.
@@SailingABSea Efes god sorry to you. Anyway, one bottle out of one case with being thrown out to sea, who knows maybe you will find out somewhere in the sea.
Just bouncing around UA-cam and came across your channel and was not very much surprised to see a couple of rookies pretending to be sailors. Because if you sail or motor your boat with the fenders still attached you are not a sailor, but just someone who is pretending to be.
@@SailingABSea It is basic seamanship. Leaving a trip hazard on your path to the bow is bad seamanship and shows either a lack of knowledge and or just plain laziness. Being prepared on a boat means that you do everything to mitigate any and all hazards.

@@SailingABSea Thanks for that, just watched it, brings back some memories - the aching legs I'd rather forget though :)
AB Sea's crew overall boat handling (self)confidence has clearly grown a lot when compared to the early somewhat timid video postings.
