If watching your channel has taught me anything, it is that I need more friends like yours!!!
It’s a great group! Only downfall is how spread out we all are
Dave - so happy for another episode. Can hardly wait until you and Fred can film together again! Thanks for all your hard work 🙂
Thank you. Me too
lol .. almost put the band back together ..
My favorite thing about you, the Butter Jeep, and the Dirt Head Shed in general is I feel like this is something that me and some buddies would build in our garages. Not a 100k bolt on build list, just a self fabricated or stock upgrade build.
Thanks: that’s the way to do it
Hey Dave, I’m sure these long episodes are a pain to film and edit but they are awesome! Keep them coming if you can! Thank you
They are kind of a pain. But if people like them it’s worth the extra work
@@thedirtheadshed We LOVE them. Keep them coming!
The Jack stands welded to the table for an axle stand is totally rad!
It’s great! Hadn’t seen that trick yet
So glad Marks bicep muscle healed so he could help you that guy is tough.
Totally. He has hurt both of them now
Love your mentality Dave, always realistic and positive, inspiring, hope your buddy is okay! 🤘🇨🇦
Much appreciated. He is out of the hospital and on the mend.
Well that escalated quickly. Glad you were able to get it out back together. Poor Marks floor 😥🤣
It was so nice before I showed up
Ty for picking up trash. But damn people need to pick there own crap up. Pack ot in and pack it out.
True that
I feel like if I could name my videos in a thumbnail as good as you, my channel would really take off.
Thanks for flying Southwest, BTW.
Thanks! I’m trying to figure out how to crack that code too!
That's so funny, when you pulled up, before you said it I totally recognized Eric's house. I have long time friends that live two doors down from him.
Nice . Seems like a fun neighborhood
Sounds like it was a good time overall I'm glad butter jeep made it home!
It’s had a hard life!
You kinda, almost, sorta reinvented a road kill show 🤘💯🏁
Shoot.. with my budget I’d say I smoked em
Dave if u need help ,Paul from fab rats ,he would love to help a hero ,keep up the good work ,u r a legend, blessings for Scotland
Thank you. I talk to Paul pretty regularly
Oh yeah I totally agree. Everyone should have a lift in Civic. However, the UA-cam channel could definitely use some improvement on the video editing part however, fantastic job glad you have sponsors. Wish I could be in your position.
Thank you. I appreciate it. I’m working through the film and edit side. It’s never been something I was into, so it’s a steep learning curve.
Man! That was a ton of work in a months time and some good fun in the sand and rocks.
It was! I need to fix and enjoy it again
At 22:10 that lifted civic is the bomb! In Wisconsin, those kinds of toys are the most fun in my opinion. The big jeeps are so overbuilt for the wheeling we have, it’s not that fun. A stock jeep or modified civic/subaru/toyota is more fun on the little forest roads we have.
Agreed. Thanks
What an episode. Dude, you hashed it out hard. Had to be an exhausting week. But a fun one. Glad to see the good ol 4.0 make it all the way home. It obviously wasn't happy just by seeing that oil in the pan. Doors dented, oil pan smash, axle broke, what a great trip. Thanks for the video, get some rest..lol
Thanks for watching. I really trashed it. I needed to redeem myself
WHOA Dave, righteous fix it video "Breaking stuff is dumb"
Love it man, stay safe, and Awesome Karma out to you 🤘😁
Thanks for watching
@@thedirtheadshed Of course, I'm proud to say I'm a big fan since way back Dave 🤘😁
For paper gaskets I use High Tack. Never had a paper gasket leak when using it. It never fully hardens, so its somewhat self healing. But also, Lube Locker gaskets are amazing, so if they make a gasket for the application that I need, I use them.
I need to order up some lube lockers. They are great
Jeep had a brown in that color of your oil for the YJ. Its sweet. Big mocha Mettalic guy
Sounds like a cool color
Dave, I’ve been loving all the welding and custom fabrication in these last two posts. Was awesome watching you fabricate and build the suspension on that thing and now the welding and work on this rear end! Keep it up brother! By the way, probably IS a good idea to sped time with your family… we will still be here!
Much appreciated. Thanks for the feedback
Cool ! A 46 minute video ! Enjoyed every minute, thanks Dave for taking us along too. 👍🏽😎
Thanks for watching!
I love the content, love watching the struggles and solutions. easier to relate to then to channels with big budgets that just show the fun. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. This was a fun project
i found a random shovel from 1920 one time in the desert. it was in excellent shape
Always cool finding stuff like that
I see Mark around my hometown area (can't miss that awesome red civic of his!). I've wanted to say "hi" before, but thought it would be weird to just interrupt a guys day like that... Anyways, if Mark is watch, "Hi" nice Civic! It's bummer the Jeep broke, but this is great content. Entertaining and I'm learning stuff too.
Thanks, say hi anytime 👍🏼
@@4x4_mark Hey awesome! Will do
Can’t miss Mark. He’s a pillar of the community
Great episode, I know it takes a LOT of work to produce a 45 minute video, but really enjoyed it! Keep showing the actual welding building, and so forth, and the damage that happens! Also the fades between shots make it look professional and the filming quality and storytelling has gotten much improved overall!
Thank you. It’s getting easier.
You’re a rad dude, Dave. Work hard and play hard, and you see the upside of every situation. Thanks for being awesome!
Thanks for the kind words!
Dave, you have some awesome friends ! 👍
I do. Wouldn’t trade em for nothing
The jack stand parts on the table is brilliant.
It’s really cool. Might have to borrow that idea
awesome trip. take me next time. lol
The Jeep is pretty small. Maybe if I get a camp trailer
DirtHead Roadkill, Love It!!!!
It’s a lifestyle
Great video. Fantastic and ballsy
Thank you. I was getting worried for a minute
What an insane adventure! Thx for bringing us along.
Thanks for watching. It was fun
A: It's good to have friends (with shops) in far away places! B: I feel your pain - I drove a dying 4.0 in a severe wind storm. Going against the wind I had it floored and was doing 45MPH on the flats. Good times.
You get it.
I drive a 2.5L it does 45 against the wind on a good day.
@@Billy28376 This 4.0 was 110% worn out. Had 170K on it, and after I rebuilt and installed its replacement, I tore it down. Every single component - pistons, cam, head, valves, bearing, you name it, was completely worn out. But, it still got me home!
I'm about to swap axles and I really like the jig idea for the control arm mounts, I'll totally do that.
Right on. It. Definitely simplifies things
@@thedirtheadshed don't know why I didn't think of it. So simple but so smart. I would have been killing myself trying to measure everything and just reproduce the setup through measurements and angles. This is soooo much better since I already went through the trouble of setting it up on my old axle. You rock!
You and Fred rule! so happy to have your guys you tube channels to watch! Thanks for making these Dave!
Thank you. I think it’s just the beginning for us
Nice work Dave
Thanks!
Glad to see you back in the hometown! Shoutout to Mark for helping you out. Miss you guys - Cookie J
It’s good to be back. I miss east county
I knew you were in my town from the airport lol That ain't even traffic!!
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks for watching
Mark is a lucky man. OBS crew cab long box? Lifted hatchback civic?! Honeys a good girl !?! That is what winning looks like.
Yeah. He’s livin large
Dave, we live out side of Caldwell, exit 17 on I 84, Sandhollow if you ever need help, we have full shop with lift. I enjoy your videos. I'm in the process of doing a spring under on my samurai. I install prius electric steering on samurais.
Nice. I need to look more into that mod
Hey Dave, what an adventure, hey? You stuck with it! "Got er Done" Thanks for bringing me along Dude!!!
Thanks for watching. I was sweating it for a minute
I think I've commented before about that lifter tick you have, but my 4.0l has the same tick every now and again. Oil pressure is fine, oils full, and I'm using a good filter. My brother's 4.0l does the same thing too. Honestly, I think it's inherent to the design of the motor.
It seems to be
That was one heck of an adventure.
It was. Gotta get out and do dumb stuff now and then
I have a 4.0 and some yj doors they’re all yours if you need them to help keep up the great content. I’m a 2 hrs north of Spokane
I totally do. Shoot me a message on Instagram
Thank you
Thanks for watching
Best yet!!
Thanks. It was a lot of work. And fun
Glad you made it home safely after that eventful trip, the butter jeep just wants to stay in the limelight.
It definitely requires attention!
Damn when you said it was at Fred’s I thought it was a dirt head reunion
Sorry. That will happen later this year
This is the kind of content I like to see out of you, Dave. Me likey
Thank you. That was a whole lot of hustle
With that much carnage, it must have been a heck of a good party!
Yeah. I was going for the win
Build - Break - Repeat!! Keep up the awesome content!
Thanks dude. We may need to talk engines
Best effort so far Dave. Keep rollin on.
Much appreciated
Reminds me of my youth drving across America in my old MG. Keep up the videos. I am enjoying them all.
Got to cherish those trips
When you’re used to drinking 12oz beers but every time you reach in the cooler. There’s only tall boys ..watch out!
The new normal
butta jeep. da jeep wit da butta
It’s finding it’s way ..
Dude I love these Jeep Vids
Thanks! I may park it for a while…
@@thedirtheadshed as a Fellow Jeeper in a TJ I understand lmao ahaha
Great video Dave! I’m surprised that you didn’t put a truss on the new housing. Love your channel, cool content and it’s never boring.
Thanks!! No space . The gas tank is right against it
Hope your buddy is ok!! Great video as always.
He is gonna be alright. I think he got released from the hospital yesterday
Great video Dave! Man when you break something you break it. That axle housing looked like a boomerang. Ha Ha . That looked like a fun trip outside of the carnage , but that's part of the adventure right . I hope your friend that rolled his Jeep over is going to be ok, I wish him a speedy recovery. Looking forward to your next video , take care sir .
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed. All is good with Dana as last I heard
THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAMMER IT
Yep! So dumb. I payed for it
That's why harnesses in lifted trucks are a great idea, unless you don't wear them. Hope he's on the mend soon
He seems to be doing well
Great episode Dave and crew, hate the Butter Jeep broke on you but glad you were able to get it fixed up to get you home thanks for sharing and bringing us along on this journey.
That’s all part of it. I got it out of my system, hopefully I can keep it together for more trips
Very enjoyable. I kinda wanted to see your Dad. You're obviously cut from some pretty awesome cloth, but I understand if he's not into being on camera. Thanks for sharing.
He is a great guy.
3 seconds in, and inside I shout "Welcome to San Diego!" but man you made a West Coast loop!
Border to border just about
Awesome video Dave! Missing you and Fred together though. Y’all should shoot some “specials” with each other
We will work on some stuff this summer
Cool video it always sucks breakdown. Didn't know there was other stuff can do at koh. Did happen see Max Anthony he in black and silver Roxor. He racing on Friday. Keep up good work and you on TV again soon. Ever wv we ran some trails.
I saw Max get off the line, but never saw him come back around to main pit after lap 1
@@thedirtheadshed had trans problems
Wish I would have caught up with you out there! Me and the wife pulled a bunch of trash out of the dunes after the TTs ran thru there
Nice. Thanks for helping keep it clean out there
Quite the filled adventure week there. Fun to see the “make it happen,” happen. Cheers!
It was a lot to tackle! Thanks
Great episode man !! Keep ‘em coming!
Will do. Thanks for watching
You done broke that jeep real good
I sure did….
Love this YJ Dave! reminds me of me haha, cant wait to see more videos of it! Its nice to see rigs that the average guy can build in the driveway 🤟
It’s definitely a relatable rig. I dig it
It was cool to see you out there and grab some trash with you! You looked exhausted lol and after watching this I definitely see why!
I was wiped out
You drove through Reno 🥲, that’s my area. You gotta hit Moon Rocks out here sometime.
I’ve been out there . Cool spot
Hey Dave! Huge fan man. I know you are own a budget. Being a family man and a off-road guy is tough on the wallet. Have you considered getting a cheap gopro and something like a rode wireless mic for it? I think it would help your videos a lot. I’ll watch either way but I have this setup and it was cheap and easy to use
I’ve got a GoPro and media mod kit. Just working on getting a laptop to edit on . That’s been my hurdle
@@thedirtheadshed heck yeah! I use Final Cut Pro. Super easy and intuitive
Well that housing didn’t last long at least you got it back home
Yeah. I really lucked out on it staying together for the return trip
Great times!!! Enjoyed another great episode!!!!
Thank you. It was a push, but fun
Wish I could have saw more wheeling
I wish I got to do more wheeling
I wannabe a Dirt Head when I grow up ...
Thanks Dave !
Thanks for watching. Join the Dirt Side
What I thought was lifter tick in my 4.0 ended up being #5 piston skirt laying in the oil pan. Everything was fine except for the tick, good oil pressure, temp, ect.
Yeah. Mine are rocking but not broken yet
@@thedirtheadshed hopefully it stays that way!
What an awesome adventure. 👌
So many memories
Love the content and the information and fabrication work you do
Thanks for watching
Maaaaark 🤙🏽 always a good dude!!
My bud
Great episode Dave, glad you had some help from good friends
Thank you. Can’t make all this happen on my own
That was a true adventure!
It was a trip!
Nice views love it!
It was beautiful everywhere we went. So stoked
Killer road trip!
Fun times
Great video!
Thank you. It was a ton of work, and fun
Prefect video Dave great job!
Thank you. Can’t be perfect..
Great episode can’t wait to see more of the butter Jeep
Thanks! It may be parked for a bit as I figure out what is up with the engine
Loving the content. Keen to see some progress on the hardbody .
Me too. Hopefully this weekend
I’m glad you have this channel. It reminds me why I quit building 4x4’s And wrecking it the next day lol. Pavement is so much cleaner too lol. I do miss koh though. Thanks Dave
Yeah. I’m ready for another street cruiser. Way less maintenance
Liking these longer vids!
Thank you
🦅🇺🇸💪😁👍 looks like you had a great adventure
It was a great time
Quite the adventure Dave, enjoyed it.
Glad you dug it. It was pretty fun
Glad to see you made it home safely! I was surprised to see that you didn’t put a backbone brace on that housing. I’ll give you my Artec dealer discount if you want to keep this one from bending! 👍
No space with the gas tank right against it
@@thedirtheadshed Bummer! I replaced a 9” recently for the same reasons in a TJ. That thing bent in 2 directions. We were at least able to use that backbone brace on that one.
Dam that was awesome what a marathon
I’m exhausted
It’s cool how your brain works. I Like how you lined it all up with the old setup. Marks stuff is pretty nice too.
Thanks. Hopefully you got some usable information out of there
@@thedirtheadshed I definitely did. I tend to go straight to measurements and angles but that is definitely far faster and more accurate. A jig or template doesn’t care if you don’t carry the 1 lol.
