As an enby from Alabama, I feel the need to explain the dress. It's Alabama and Auburn football colors. One parent must be an Auburn fan and the other an Alabama fan. American football is taken so seriously in the south, especially in the bible belt area of the south. This rivalry is so intense that fights often broke out because of parents who disagreed, divorces were blamed on this and every elementary school student was scared of failing if their teacher rooted for the opposing team. (As far as I am aware, this never happened, but we still worried). Still an ugly dress tho.
Sounds like Adelaide vs Port Adelaide here in Australia. We got two teams from one city in the AFL and their supporters HATE each other. Meanwhile Sydney and Melbourne make up like half of the (I think) 16 teams, Western Australia has one team, Queensland has like two and Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory have none, although one of the Melbourne teams made Hobart their "second home ground" because they are the most popular team in the state.
I just realised that I’ve lived my life being conditioned by Boy/Girl names. Also, we really damage children by not letting them discover their identity.
I mean, letting children discover their identity is great! And people should always follow their heart. The only thing I'm against are life-altering, or permanent surgeries for kids. No child should ever get surgery at a young age, unless it's completely necessary for medical reasons. And besides, your brain stops growing at 18, and a child mentality just isn't suited to make such a massive decision.
@@That_Damn_Plaid_Ram The brain keeps developing into the 20s and only stops around 22-25. But otherwise I agree, as long as we can make trans healthcare more accessible and destigmatized for youths.
@@That_Damn_Plaid_Ram Children aren’t getting those surgeries though. You have to be 18 unless you NEED them to survive. And even then, it’s super hard to do.
Yeah, never heard of anyone getting surgery under 18. Not really a thing. And it’s still incredibly hard above 18. I would like to point out, though, that gender affirming surgery is completely necessary for medical reasons. I’m fact, it’s life-saving.

I was buying a hit flask the other day with my sister and we couldn't find where they were in the store so we asked an employee. They asked us "is it for a man or a woman" and my sister and I just stood there whilst staring blankly at the employee. They then brought us over to where the flasks were and pulled out a pink box which was the packaging for the flask aimed at female buyers. But the actual flask was literally gold. While I knew a Paris who was a girl way, WAY back in elementary school, I mostly think of it as a traditionally male name because one of the key characters in the Trojan War is a man named Paris. There are some names that started out as "male" names and are basically only "feminine" now, like Lindsay and Courtney, and I have NO IDEA why.
Shirley, Stacy, and Tracy are a few older examples. With very, very few exceptions, any name that is used for boys and then starts being used for girls too, subsequently stops being used for boys. This works on the misogynistic thought process that it's Ok for female people to want masculine things but not Ok for male people to want or have anything feminine.

I love your channel, Jammidodger. Your channel is a bright spot for me. I wish everyone a happy pride month. Just remember, you be you. Although I'm not satisfied with my body, I am happy with my chosen name; even though I'm an AFAB nonbinary person, my chosen name is Benjamin. I just really love the name, and kind of knew it was my true name. I remember one day the girls in elementary or middle school would say what name they wanted to be named if they were boys (this was some silly game the girls in my school did), and I recall saying my boy name would have been Benjamin. Many years later, I learned I'm nonbinary, and I used a gender neutral name until I grappled with if I perfered a masculine sounding name, or gender neutral. I recently made up my mind: Benjamin is my true name, and no one is going to stop me from using my chosen name or pronouns (they/them), even if I get deadnamed and my pronouns not respected 9/10 times by most of the immediate family. (P.S. I have friends and certain family members who do respect my name and pronouns, just most of the immediate family either don't attempt at trying, or are trying to adjust to who I truly am. All that really changed is I realized who I am.) I'm sorry for the long comment. I'll be in my little corner of UA-cam and just be quiet now.
Hi Benjamin!! I think that's an awesome name! I can relate to the struggle of not having a "neutral" name, while using they/them I kept my birth name, because it just sounds neutral to me, since it's my name, even though i know people will likely read it as aligned with my AGAB I hope you find even more people who will treat you with respect to use your name and pronouns, you deserve it! @@SmerkyRandomised, thanks. I have a few people who call me by the gender neutral option I used still, but I rather have that over deadnamed. I didn't have the heart or the courage to tell her that my legal name, one day, wouldn't include my deadname. It's bad enough my old newspaper articles I wrote in HS and this book I was published in a few years back has my deadname used. I don't want to keep my deadname in any way. "Why don't you buy (gender stereotypical colour)?"
"Because I want to hand them down to the next kid regardless of gender."
Lol, never had another kid!
birth rate is falling because people can't afford to have children. Self-preservation is more important than adding another human to a struggling family in a collapsing economy.

The Google search one is just Google reacting to the keyword "names." I just typed "names" into the search thing and it immediately suggested "for boys" and "for girls." I think someone was searching something like "city names in South Carolina" trying to remember where their Great Aunt Martha lived or something.
“Hello beautiful little spuddies” I love this line! My husband is a software engineer aka coder. He frequently says he wishes there were more women in the industry. The ones he's met have always been a great addition to the team. And no, it's not a 24-7 job. If it is, you work for a crappy company.
Hey! Mildly unrelated but I’m going to college for computer science and would love to hear what your day to day is like to get a feel for what I’d be in for. Go into as much detail as you’d like :)

Not unless you throw them hard enough.

All that really changed is I realized who I am.)
I'm sorry for the long comment. I'll be in my little corner of UA-cam and just be quiet now.
Hi Benjamin!!
I think that's an awesome name!
I can relate to the struggle of not having a "neutral" name, while using they/them

I hope you find even more people who will treat you with respect to use your name and pronouns, you deserve it!
