Fitting an Ri years ago, the guy talked to me all day long. Lost focus and connected the flow to the gas. I noticed as soon as I started filling, but the water was already in. Next day I pulled the meter, emptied it out, vacced the gas pipe at the meter, repiped it and it fired straight up 😅😅😅😅

Fixed an upstairs boiler last year, boiler had terrible problems running ,gas pressure all over the place, went down to the meter to hear it making unusual noises, contacted Transco who came to replace it , they found it was partially full of water. Transco spent two months digging up the road outside causing traffic mayhem while they replaced rotten infrastructure.

Got a call out to a private new build extension years ago. Customer reported a water leak. Builder was nowhere to be found. Thinking a tap / rad ….
    Arrived at property….
    Water coming out of hob!!!!!
How it held the pressure when turned off I’ll never know.
Turn hob control on… water hits the ceiling.. turn off water stops!!
Turn off at meter, cap it and report it (Corgi then), notification to water provider!
    Massive issues
