I actually seen a documentary that he done in Ireland on Irish history as part of his series why does everyone hate the English and I couldn't believe the difference infact I wasn't shure it was him for a minute
@KevinFinch0101 You're right dude, I am a Yank in Southern California and I love Al Murray. I have been listening to all the other UA-cam videos of his and the accent part is not as difficult as the fact he speaks so fast! Some of the words/terms used are unfamiliar to me as well but thats not really an issue either. I would LOVE to go to England.
If you come over to an Al Murray show, if you are in the front row and Al asks where you come from, what ever you do, don't say you are American. Al will milk the living daylights out of you and have the audience in fits.
@@Rog5446 NOBODY---should actually CHOOSE, to sit even NEAR the front rows. Unless you are a tough skinned person, who knows and loves what he does. I have seen him scare the crap out of people, who were struck dumb and wouldn't respond at all. I'm convinced, he actually has already consulted some of his ''victims'', just an impression.
His image, and popularity, took a tumble, when he tried to enter into politics, and stood against Nigel Farage in a election, and some say, he grabbed enough votes, to virtually prevent Farage, ( in a tight local seat) from entering Parliament. That was the rumour anyway. SHOW BIZ types, should keep out of that subject, they are bound to upset some of their support, and have it rebound on them, and for what ?
@orenco Heavy British accent? Are you kidding? You should hear Geordies... and you should hear Al Murray when he's not doing the Pub Landlord, he's really well spoken.
The f1 Red Bull racing team was not the jokes focus, only the name. His rejection and comedic value of the name was because its a drink that is not beer, therefore bad. If you see more of his "The Pub Landlord" standup elsewhere on utube you get a better idea of his quick and clever humour. Look for his wonderful sitcom "Time, Gentlemen Please". Classic and classy.
Well, I did, and it was worth it. I worked in computing at the time around the year 2000, when the fuss around millennium bug was in full swing, the Y2K one. He picked on me as the stooge when he said, "so you agree that you built computers, and computers are the machines of the future. So what you're telling me is that you built the machines of the future, without taking into account....the future"
Only today I've met Al Murray and to say the truth I couldn't understand a word of his heavy British accent. Watched aprox 50 minutes of his fine shows and got to not only crack my ass off but to learn to understand the British accent, cheers.
orenco the english dont have an accent. Everywhere else that speaks english has an accent. Thats like saying a spaniard speaking spanish has an spanish accent. Nooo thats how it SOUNDS.
yeah he may use terms that u dont understand but that doesnt spoil the jokes which is a very good trait of his, if u want i could explain some if u want
No, it's not fixed at all, I've been picked on when he's been trying out new material at a small venue, he is just super-sharp. Watch his interview with Rob Brydon, he talks more about the 'bottomless pit of material' from the attitude of that character. Plus also, he's been doing that a while and has got more skilled at it, as well as having some 'template' responses to different types of job and situation that he's worked out, that just need to be varied according to the specifics of the people he's talking to.
@okukok I don't think laughing at people in the audience or taking the piss out of every other european country takes much rehersal. :P I think it's all on the spot comedy, because the audience wouldn't be laughing as much if they'd set it all up. :D
His accent is not strong, but definitely South. He's from Bedfordshire, which is just North of London. A lot of what he says quickly are sort of catch-phrases, he uses them all the time, which is part of the humour.
I'm not sure about al murray. his act is mostly just juvenile abuse ofvthe audience. I'm surprised he hasn't been smacked as some of it is very personal.
I don't know if you have realised this yet, but comedians tell jokes, and even if the joke is true or not about the person, who cares? It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what.
+Gary-Paul Rigley the point I was making is mainly that his humour is just not very witty or interesting, its just taking the mick out of the front row of the audience a la jim davidson. also some of it is personal, some people may enjoy being ridiclued in public, good for them. i don't so i'd thump him.
bobst657 Yeah, thats what you would do, "thump him" lmao Your action (which I highly suggest you wouldn't do) would just make you look like an embarrassment. Refer to the second part of me previous comment child.
+Gary-Paul he isn't funny, abusing people in the audience is just lazy and pathetic and some of it is personal and offensive. if you can't understand other peoples points of view then you probably would be better of not commenting, you're just wasting everyone's time time.
Total star. What a legend. All hail ti Al Murray.
A very gentle and intelligent bloke too, offstage.
Cheers Al.
I actually seen a documentary that he done in Ireland on Irish history as part of his series why does everyone hate the English and I couldn't believe the difference infact I wasn't shure it was him for a minute
Have to say, ending the video at “your time’s up fcuk-off” is genius.
@KevinFinch0101

that fire fighter hahahaa!, if he goes back to the station after this show lol..he will never hear the end of it. lol
Al Murray! Beautiful British name!
Never known anyone so quick with their humour
Faster than that teacher away. Is she on sleeping pills?
Lee Mack is quicker, but I prefer Al’s subjects.
Robin Williams, but not now
it's scripted with the audience member before hand, sorry
@@DF59821 no it aint 🙄
Watched Al Murray back in the 90's at the Comedy Cafe in Newcastle city centre. Hilarious then. Still a class act now.
His image, and popularity, took a tumble, when he tried to enter into politics, and stood against Nigel Farage in a election, and some say, he grabbed enough votes, to virtually prevent Farage, ( in a tight local seat) from entering Parliament. TheBaconWizard this is a character though. The real Al Murray sounds a bit different
Shame about the piped on laughter.
Rog5446 it's a live performance in a theatre, not some shite sitcom on channel 5
There's no need to pipe on laughter when you're at one of his gigs, he's just funny

Funny is subjective, but you are in a very small minority there.
Who do you think is funny?
