This is why a lot of fighters duck and cherry pick as much as they do. 1 wrong fight and it's all over. Cerrone and Vick also never won a fight again after fighting Gaethje.
The moment after the Chandler KO when Liddel embraced Tony still has me in tears. That's when I started saying he should retire. Even know learning that Tony doesn't remember that moment is so sad
The Gaethje fight was devastating. Without a crowd, every punch echoed the punishment Tony was enduring. His corner should’ve stopped it, but Tony’s relentless, stubborn mentality wouldn’t have allowed it. Sadly, that same mindset likely kept him from retiring while he still had something left. Heartbreaking to see a legend fall like that.
The things he was taking damage in all he’s fights but in Justin fight he took more damage then all ufc fight put together so you can only run a car in wall so many time till it destroyed
I think Kevin Lee at this point would defeat Tony soon or later. They both fucked up their knee but Kevin is overall stronger. He gave Tony a hard fight.
I think the Gaethje fight is SOMEWHAT a red herring, Tony was 36, clearly losing speed and reactions already and was never the same after he tore his knee apart. His decline was going to happen anyway, it’s just a shame the Gaethje fight did so much head trauma on top of Tony’s already declining athleticism.
Tonys a tough guy! People dont understand whats been going on from the octagon. Tonys been fighting alcohol & drug abuse for quite some time, hes gone off rails many times. Evening beating his wife & kidnapping his son. Guys lost his marbles, may whats left off his legacy gets left in peace 🙏
Could have quit in the early rounds, there was no point to go the distance after the swelling under his eye, the cut in his face and the difference of shots landed between Justin and Tony. If the fight wouldn't have been stopped, Justin had won by points.
I hope Tony made plenty of money for all his amazing fights. However the fact that he didn’t get that title probably kept a lot of money off the table he could and should have made. Knowing Tony, he probably spent a lot of his money on his training. It’s such a tragedy that those khabib fights never happened, it could have changed his life forever!
I think some fighters have a bad management and try to solve some issues make themselves in danger it’s important to protect the fighter and maybe block some payment till a solution found but declined of Ferguson was bad like Gegar Moussassi too hope the best for them and a back in mma universe but not as fighter but high profile figure maybe as found some new generation
Tony needs to be appreciated for what he gave the MMA world. Simply incredible but unfortunately we all get older and slow down. Personally I think he should have walked away a long time ago but that's only a decision he can make. Only positive thoughts for Tony and his healthy life in front of him.
Everyone just F---- it let the man die on his own shield. Toney won't have it any other way so shut up and just let it happen. Toney your a true legionnaire bad ass fighter and that's facts whether you stop or never win again.
Honestly, getting older sucks. Father Time is undefeated. Still, I have never had such clarity of thought...life is a transition from strong to wise. Rarely do we have both at once. Ferguson is still a warrior though, much respect.
Well we all like to act like we are in control of a fight but reality we are passengers. If you took a beating like non other and then you fight again and it starts to happen again, your brain will be like nope nope we ain’t going there again. And you see fighters just turn away and like almost subconsciously give up.
@@drdoom5516 yea man the second he gets hit he’s gona turn away and not fight . His style never ages well. You need a simple hands up style to last you late in your career
Tony made so many mistakes all by himself since he fought Justin. Not only the two weightcuts and fighting a striker like Justin on short notice, but going the distance after it was clear he will lose by points and having a all over swelling face. He should have quit after round 3. Then it's unwise how less he recovers and how fast he fights again. Sometimes only 4 months between two fights, that isn't enough time to recover and prepare. And I think the opponents he had after Justin were all better than his opponents he had in his prime. Chandler, Oliverira, Paddy and Diaz and Justin without a doubt, but also Bobby Green, Dariush and Chiesa. When he declined, the UFC gave him his best opponents. At no point in his career he was ever able to beat Charles Oliveira, but maybe Justin if he actually had a gameplan. Justin fought his smartest fight with Tony, he stopped brawling and fought more tactical.
I was actually looking forward to Justin winning but after seeing him lose over and over and over again, I started feeling a little sorry for him! But only a little 😂
No one hates dagestani But when dagestanian says that he is russian, of course we Georgians hate that Because ones russia had occupied Georgia for 70 years From 1921-1991 So luckily we get back indipendente If things would go wrong What we need to say We Georgians are Russias?? Never guys never We would never say that That is big, huge difference with Georgians and Dagestanians!!! Now you understand???
I myself have beaten 3 former Wrld Champions. My childhood heros. But that was in off road motorcycling. CERTAINLY NOT combative. Proving they all go over the hill.
Tony was the elite he beat the top guys of his era, he was 6 years older than the current light weight elite. He was past his prime. The elite of Tony’s era was RDA, Barboza, Alvarez and Conor.

Gaethje was a glorified bum
@@glennmahoney3911 is poirier a bum too for losing to gaetjhe?
Yes Perrier is a bum. Always a bridesmaid never a bride

Gaethje broke Tony's orbital bone, and he hasn't been the same.
Father Time remains undefeated

Totally agree, wish we could get over the supposed shame of throwing the towel in. In the long run it cost Tony his health and finances. Sad.
The real reason he lost was he stupidly did two weight cuts in two weeks, remember he made weight for the cancelled khabib fight, which was pointless
The things he was taking damage in all he’s fights but in Justin fight he took more damage then all ufc fight put together so you can only run a car in wall so many time till it destroyed
Yeah man, that fight against Justin was more like a plane crash honestly. It makes me sick Watching that back
Man i watched that Gaethje fight live....it still breaks my heart😢that was soooo hard to watch as a Tony fan
Tony: The type of guy to read 'KO' the other way round to make it: 'OK'✌El CuCuy forever✌
Tony signed to GFL 2 days ago.
Tony vs. Kevin 2
I refuse to believe that's true. How is Carla Esparza gonna have a retirement video but not Tony?
@@Dmichoacankevin acting like beating tony at this stage is redemption is tito chuck energy

If Tony continues, his next loss will be against CTE.
He lost that fight years ago
It's disturbing that you think ANY fighter on the UFC doesn't have CTE yet, let alone Tony!
Such a sad story... he was one of the best
Gaethje fight KILLED his career. Chandler fight BURIED it.

Tony Ferguson is the type of guy to self deport from the UFC
And now GFL is gonna let him take more unnecessary damage
GrandFather League
Hard to see Tony💔
Its amazing at this point Tony can even string a sentence.

He never beat his wife don’t spread slander like that, he trashed the house but as far as we know he never harmed her
He could never imagine the brutal beating he was about to take.

Justin ended Tony's career. That fight took it out of him. Same thing is happening to Gajhie now.

One of my favorite fighters. I think it was sparring damage that lead him to that point
What sparring?
so sad this 😔😔bad by ref and Tonys corner ☹☹

That's it. He seems much more scared than before, can't take punches as good as early in his career and even runs away after a good shot on his face.

Does Makhachev have a reconstructed knee and is he 36?

Tony was always going to lose to the elite.
Tony was the elite he beat the top guys of his era, he was 6 years older than the current light weight elite. He was past his prime. The elite of Tony’s era was RDA, Barboza, Alvarez and Conor.
It wasnt the fight itself. It was the 2 weight cuts that he did.
Tony Ferguson was very arrogant back in the days, but i'm glad he got humbled by Gaethje
Dana White beat Tony Ferguson. He treated this American like a second class citizen. What did he do wrong? This is the stain on the UFC.
that was then this is now guy lost many fights since gathie beat him
