I've seen MO several times, but was honored to meet and talk with Bones when he was touring with Tim Carroll & Midnight Orange. What a gracious man. RIP
Bravo again ! Beyond words, there are feelings that are going through generations. If we can acknowledge that, then there’s a path to our common human future. ❤
Thank you ... beautiful song and lyrics... saw live Diesel and Dust Tour... in Chicago 1988 Aragon ballroom... great on stage presence. Meaningful songs! Thoughtful and rockin' 🖖⚖️❤️🕊️
Nice song and beautiful voice. Could we have the lyrics to understand it better? (for not English speakers 😉) RIP Bones, wherever you are, we will never forget you 🖤💔
Another beautiful masterpiece! Thank you. I was just reading the news & saw you are getting a human rights award. I don't do social media so here I am. Congrats, well deserved & I wish your brother saw this but I think he either knew it would happen or can hear that it's happening. I have participated in a few BLM either zooms or online surveys. I always say I haven't seen any movement like this in Australia since Diesel & Dust & Kathy Freeman. Your record made me understand our fate & realise that a better suburb, city, state, territory, country & world can only happen when we have the courage to stand up & speak up. Thank you for giving me that courage. I'm 48 & never plan on stopping ❤🦘🐨
Merci Bones Hilman. Toi et midnight oil est mon band favori depuis plus de 30 ans. Je vous avez vu en show à Montréal pour Capricornia. Personne vous égale. Rip Bones. Sincères condoléances â toute la famille et aux membres des oil.
"You can't TALK about the FUTURE, if you're running from the past... Ignorance and wealth combine to crush the fruit upon the vine" This track (that feature's Alice Skye) is from Midnight Oil "The Makarrata Project" (2020). To me it is both sad and beautiful, it tells tales of that which threatens Australia's future, it was written beautifully. and as Alice's wonderful instrument accompanied by a melancholy , but peaceful piano score rings in my ear, I can't help but think that the World, and certainly we in the United States face similar Terrors, but my heart tells me it is true that, Terror can become Hope, if we "stop running from the past"
I'm just a nobody from the Deep South (America) but this song, like so many other Oils songs, touches me to tears at the universal place that cries out for God to come and erase all of this with fire. Just how much more of our own stupidity can we stand? Jesus, have mercy.
The way indigenous people group's throughout the world have been treated by colonisation is that their will never be peace until the colonizers take action and build bridges to reconcile the harm we have caused
Please let me know: who was Bones Hillman? This is a beautiful song. Love the melancholy in it. Midnight Oil is still making music, I am surprised about that and I like that. Their topics of Native's affairs deserve to be heard still today, such a long time after "Beds are burning". (Listener and fan from Germany)
Big loss for the music world and for Midnight Oil fans. It will be sorely missed for all of us. Rest in peace. Ricardo from Brazil.
Thank God for allowing me to say goodbye to Bones Hillman on stage in 2017 Sao Paulo Brazil.
She sings like if light is coming from ages to us. Thank you !
Great voice, great band. Beds are burning was my first single that i bought with my first paper round money. Stu, England.
Money well spent... did you shout out "READ ABOUT IT" when delivering the papers?
Brings tears to my eyes every time. Right on the first chord. Something very special.
Beautiful song co written by Bones.
Beautiful and well said. We'll miss you, Bones.
I will never forget the chilling yet Angelic vocals on One Country. Rip Bones xx

So moving. So sad.
I’m so angry that our elders were lied to and abused. Looking at the world today, what hope is there that justice will arise ?
